Hi everyone!

I'm a new member here, thanks for letting me join the group.

I'm a woodworking hobbyist in Atlanta, GA. I bought my LOM 15 years ago, set it
up and moved to Europe before ever milling a single piece! I've just got it out
of storage a few weeks ago and am anxious to get to work!

I have the 1000EX version (I think!?!) - no motor, just hand cranks.

Apparently, I only partially finished setting it up and I have bags of parts
for the horizontal and vertical clamps but no instructions on how to install
them.

I'm also interested in setting things up for contour following- I understand
the premise of a pin following a template but can't seem to find any specifics
on the setup or mounting systems.

I'm a visual learner, so any images of your setups would be incredibly helpful.

I'm looking forward to learning from you all and hope to have something to
share soon.

Thanks!

Re: legacy for sale dallas texas

2018-04-17 Thread Dexter Bland
I have purchased tools from this auction site before. Bidding does get
crazy sometimes like any auction. You do have to consider the 15% they are
going to add to your winning bid in what you are willing to pay. Have the
money ready to send if you are the winner. They want payment sent right
away.
Although it is not an issue on this sale, Some places charge a
non-negotiable loading fee. Sometimes the loading fee is as much as the
item is worth. You really don't want to pay $50 to load something you won
on a $120 bid and something you can bring a dolly and get all by yourself.

Do you have the manual?  That should cover assembly of the horizontal and
vertical clamps.

Are you planning on using the templates to turn something or for doing some
flat work?

Hi Tim-

Cannot find the manual. Is it available online somewhere you could point me?

For templates, my thought was to do round work like a copy lathe. A few of the
posts I’ve read here lead me to believe that isn’t something the LOM is
designed for.

Re: Need help with Clamping systems and contour following setup

Hello TekinThe key words here are designed for... The Legacy can do a lot, but
there are somethings that is dose better then others. making your Legacy into a
copy lathe of sorts would not be my first choice of projects, I would try
starting a new.And starting with some basics first.
Bill's video "Profile following" is a very good example of some of the
possibility's that are open to you. but ... you will have to make and or modify
your machine a little to do it.  Wait until you see the video for your self.
If you need any help putting your machine together, Just ask, I also own a
1000ex. I know your model pretty well.
Have a good night.C.A.G.

Can you take a photo of your mill so I can get you the correct manual.
Template turning does work, it just take practice.  There is very little
documentation on the technique.  The video bill pointed out is a very good
