into the group. Things are moving much slower then we like.
I just went to the group page and found some 5 people pending approval to the
group. (I was not notified that they were waiting.)  NOW for those who have
access to the group but have not been given approval to post, Please do so
SOON, It may take time before either Tim K. or I grant the access to post
messages to the group, (Again notice is no longer being sent to us, stating

I'm going to add this onto this up-date posting of  mine, A question that was
asked to me, on My personal e-mail.  which is curt.geo...@yahoo.com  Side
note:For any reason, Anyone can ask me (or Tim Krause) Questions at our e-mail

OUR GOAL is to "Help All", So the questions asked, Can help others who may have
the same question in the future.

The question.On/about, my roping of the button pattern.
When making a row of pearls/buttons, you need to remember that its not only the
pitch of the rope cut , that you need to think about , but the Acme screw pitch
as well. (Which is 5/8"-4)  There are 4 threads per inch. so when I made my
roping of beads, I used my crank handle as a indicator for me. ONE full
rotation of the handle is 1/4", If my button is under a 1/4" (I used a 6mm last
week, which is smaller...)  I plunged the router bit down, to make the bead,
then lifted up and rotated the handle one turn, advancing the spindle and
carriage 1/4". then plunging down again, over and over until I get to the end,
or where I plan to stop cutting. For the others beads, I used the same concept,
2 rotations would be 1/2", 3 would be 3/4".
Now what looks very neat, Is to cut a rope with the spacing between the rope
(tops upper edge.) that is the same as one of your button cutters. (Magnate
cutters all have a flats on the sides of the button. By using this flat you can
undercut part of your bead, leaving a flat and the button pronounced ( above
the wood) vs like I did with the bead cutters last week, where the beads were
under the surface.  If I can find some time today I plan to show this process
in my detail. (with photo's.)
But at this time, I have a lot of work that needs to be done today. (Work
first, then play time, after.) ;-)
Have a good day everyone.More to come. ;-)

So I guess you and Tim K will just have to check once or twice a week for new

Hello Bill

We can only hope that they will see the note and keep on trying.

We have had 25 new people request membership this month, but only a few of
those people who have posted to the group at this time.

I figure that they are just checking out the waters (so to speak.) For what
ever reasons of there own, They have decided to either skip the group forum all
together, and or just want to stay lurkers, until they run into a problem that
they can not find the answers in, our archives.

Google really is not helping matters either, I no longer get any notice of
requests and or anything form none-members, before they become actives members
in the group.

The process works like this.

A person has to request membership, Tim or I have to approve the persons
request.

(NOTE: to all, by just putting an e-mail address is not enough. A short note
must be added, To many Spam/Malware out there is just approve a none person or
virus to the group.)

Once approved, the person needs to post to the group. at least twice (and We
need to also approve that messages.) Once the approval has been granted, More
than once, the person then will have full access to the group page, and then
they can post as much as they want.

Hopefully We will be able to help as many Legacy users out there? the Legacy
is a very good machine, but it has a learning curve to it.

I think of the Legacy more like a good woman, Learn what she likes, treat her
well, and she will come through for you every time. If you don't, Big problems
will happen, Most likely ruining you hole day. (or worse!)

;-p

Have a good night.

RE: DynaGlide suppliers

2022-01-23 Thread bulkeley
As for someone who can never get dyna-glide I find any dry lubricant will work
on the legacy ok,

You only have to be carful with a dry lube when whatever your lubricating comes
in direct contact with your wood saw blades table tops ect in case they leave a
wax or oily residue on the timber making gluing or finish coating the wood a
possible problem. on the legacy all the places you lubricate don’t so it is not
a problem and I never get any build up of anything so as long as it’s a dry
lube I use it but after saying that dyna-glide is the best and lasts the
longest so I’m told. just my opinion on it all just in case the supply of dyna
stops for any reason difficult times we live in right now. Ps of course wet
lubricants is a no no because all the wood dust builds up bogging every thing
up but you all already know that right,

Good morning Everyone, Tim.

I spent appx. 2 years trying to find a better or homemade product to replace
Dyna-Glide. some work for a short time, but So far nothing that I've found can
replace Dyna-Glide.

https://woodworker.com/dynaglide-plus-lube-spray-cleaner-14-oz-mssu-171-203.asp
also carry's it. Perhaps you could try them?

In a pinch
https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/hornady-one-shot-with-dynaglide-plus-gun-cleaner-and-dry-lube
Hornady ONE SHOT has Dyna-Glide in it. And it works pretty good on the
Legacy. ONE Advantage of using ONE SHOT, is you can buy it in the liquid by the
1/2 gal. and put that in a spray bottle your self. This ONE Shot works, but
dose not seem to me to last as long as Dyna-Glide its self.

A third option that did worked for me, WAS a home made version. Lamp oil (
Liquid Paraffin) and Japanese dryer in a spray bottle . (NOTE this did work
well, but it also made a film that needed to be remove after a short time of
using it.

Products that work for a very short time ARE.

Plegde https://www.pledge.com/en-us It's Dirt CHEAP! and you can buy it
anyway, Sold in grocery stores, hardware stores... If used daily on the Legacy,
This could be a good product, It only lasted a few hours of use before it needs
to be used again. So there is a trade off with going cheap. BUT IT DOES WORK
WELL.

Now products like T-9 and Top coat ( sold at both Rockler and Wood Craft.) only
lasted (a little longer than Pledge) but did work OK ,But for the price
difference, I just do not think its worth it.

In short Nothing that I've found works better then Dyna-Glide for use on the
Legacy. This is one (of many) reason why I went to Linear rail on my machine.

I hope this help?

Good morning all,

Checking to see where others are getting "Dynaglide".

I have tried some different substitutes for this but have

never really found one that works quite as well.

Bostik Glidecoat being one I currently use as well as Dynaglide.

I have used a couple other's from misc. suppliers but to no

avail.

So besides through Legacy I have found 2 other suppliers

that carry it. One is out of stock with the promise is "more on it's way"

Promised for at least 2 months now.

The other store actually has it on hand. StewMac

So Stores:

LOM--- Price??? last I got was like $18.00

StewMac-- instock for $20.99

WoodWorker's Supply out of stock $23.59

I ordered 2 cans last night through StewMac.

2022-01-23 Thread 'Curt George' via Legacy Ornamental Mills
Hello Everyone.
ONE quick note to all.   Google is no longer sponsoring "Groups" So many things
are not working as they were. Its nothing to alarm anyone, but For our New
members, and others who, Watch the group but have not been fullyintergraded
into the group. Things are moving much slower then we like.
I just went to the group page and found some 5 people pending approval to the
group. (I was not notified that they were waiting.)  NOW for those who have
access to the group but have not been given approval to post, Please do so
SOON, It may take time before either Tim K. or I grant the access to post
messages to the group, (Again notice is no longer being sent to us, stating
that you are waiting.)   I'm sorry for any delays you may receive.

I'm going to add this onto this up-date posting of  mine, A question that was
asked to me, on My personal e-mail.  which is curt.geo...@yahoo.com  Side
note:For any reason, Anyone can ask me (or Tim Krause) Questions at our e-mail
addresses, that you may not want the group to know that you asked.  (there is
no such thing as a dumb question.)I can and will post those questions under my
name, to the group, if need be. So no one needs to worry about not knowing the
answer, or feeling the imbursements or looking bad for not knowing.

(Work
first, then play time, after.) ;-)
Have a good day everyone.More to come. ;-)

Thanks for the additional suggestions Tim.

With the way the supply chain is right now, other sources are helpful. 

Thanks to those too who offered other substitutes. I may try one or two.
