Hey Guys!

Bill I have a way to make this chatter wave 100% every time. but it involves
another jig to make it work. What I did the first time is supper Kool, but Its
not easy to get the results prefect every time.

I called this cut a chatter cut, mainly due to that is exactly what is
happening, the route bit chatters/bounces over the wood as it is cutting.

There are a number of variables that are needed to make the Chatter cut work on
the Legacy at this time it is not an exact science . (those variables are,
speed of cut/RPM of the bit, depth of cut from the side/Y axis , and Speed of
the motor drive/carriage movement. all have to be the same, to get the good
results. If one is off the cut will not be consistent.)

Hello Bill

The chatter wave was cut form the side of the work piece, I used the clime
cutting method, (the router bit is spinning like a car tire on wet pavement)
Sadly I do not remember the pitch or speed I used at this time.

What I do remember is the chatter happened on the first cut, I liked the look,
so I repeated all the cut the exact way to repeat this process.

Here are some more Wave' y cuts that I have made.

Hello Everyone. (just got home form work.)

Thank you all for the kind words.

Using and Making the Wave attachment is not all that hard to do.

I too enjoy the look of the waves, in wood as well as in my bone turnings.

If anyone would like to know more, We can open a posting on the process of
making

one. With Tim K. Bill, and my self,(who have all made our own versions.) as
well as a few

others in the group who own the wave attachment, I'm sure anyone in the group

own. The concept of how they work, as well as the simple construction it takes
to

make a attachment. Is pretty easy.

Just let me know what you all think?

Here are a few photo's of both, works and attachment.

for some reason taking photo's of these bone handles, just don't quite look the

as a piece of paper) the wave off-set is 1/8" with a 3" pitch.

I hope this helps?

Re: Feb 5 bone turnings

2024-02-29 Thread Tim Ziegler
Hey Curt,

Those are some extremely nice looking bone handles.
Thanks for sharing them. You are truely the Bone turning Master.
Can you take a close up of the one you used the wave attachment
on? I would like to zoom in on the pattern a little bit closer.
Great work as always.

Kind Regards,
