Re: [LegacyUG] Screen Shots
I experimented with this today. It will work in Paint which is a free software on Windows and also in Word. For Paint go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>Paint. When the Paint screen opens go to Edit>Paste and it should be there. Don't expect any recognition when you hit Print Screen (prt sc) and on a laptop you may need to hit a function key if the prt sc so indicates. In Word after hitting prt sc open Word then Edit>paste and you're off and running. Along the upper right row of keys on your keyboard is a button that says Print Scr (or something similar)Hitting this key will take a snapshot of your screen. Open MS Excel (or the Word Perfect or Open Office equivalent) You should see an icon that looks like a clipboard - click on this to paste your snapshot. If using MS Excel, click on file-> page setup. Re: [LegacyUG] Screen Shots
A couple of years ago I decided to develop a tool for uniform source entry. The first method tried was screen shots of the sources that were to be "the standard." The problem with them was that not all text showed on the screen (without scrolling to the right) in some of the boxes; i.e., the Source List Name and the Source Detail Information. Hence, the screen shots did not capture all of the text. I then resorted to templates developed in MS Word -- more work initially but they work well for me. There are examples of each type of source - US Census, State Census, Canadian Census, Vital Record, Vital Records from a Book, and so on. Question: Do you have a method for capturing all of the text without making more than one screen shot of a given source?
