If you go to the individual's box as if to enter birth, death and other info, you will notice a box to check at the bottom left for never married and never had any children. Re: [LegacyUG] Indiv "never married" option unavailable
Did you check the spouse icon to see if it is lit up? Did you go into that icon to see if an spouse Unknown is listed there? It is possible that you clicked on the spouse's box at some point and closed it without entering info. Or you might have opened a box to enter a child accidentally which could have put a default possible husband in the icon area without listing the person in the spouse box. Either way, by going into the spouse icon, you can see if someone is there and delete that spouse to light up the box you want to check. Re: [LegacyUG] Source List Name?
Yes, I do by type also, but I only have two. Maybe I'll do something like "GEN DATA - MISC - FAMGRPSHEETS . . ." As far as searching, I create a new .pdf of all my sources every few days & search that --much faster than searching Legacy. RE: [LegacyUG] Indiv "never married" option unavailable
Hello Pat, In the main window of Legacy, check the status bar where you should see the RIN and MRIN for that individual. The 'H:' and the 'M:' should have blank entries leaving only the 'W: ' with a number. If 'M:' has a number next ot it, it means there is a marriage created for your female. To remove it, press 'CTRL+M' or select 'Marriage List' from the view menu. A new window containing a marriage list should appear and the offending marriage should be selected in blue. Check to see if the MRIN number on the left corresponds with the number next to the 'M:' on the status bar. If they do you can delete this marriage link by selecting the 'Options' at the bottom of the marriage list and then selecting 'Remove the marriage link'. Once this has been done you can open the individuals editing screen and the never married option should be available. Remember however, should you in the future ever choose any of the icons on the marriage info bar, like say the 'marriage notes', 'marriage sources' or 'marriage pictures, sounds and video', a new marriage link is created and the 'never married, had no children' option will once again be grayed and non-selectable even though no husband was added. Even if you did not save or add anything, a new marriage link WILL be created. So be careful to not add a marriage note for example to explain that she was never married. Re: [LegacyUG] Indiv "never married" option unavailable
OK, That was the problem. However, one thing, Ron. Viewing the Marriage list, I found no option to delete "Unknown," but I could unlink him and that took care of the problem! I thought the spouse icon lighted up with an Unknown spouse, but apparently not. Thanks, all!! RE: [LegacyUG] (n.p., n.d.)
Switch your citation from using a SourceWriter template to a Basic one. With a little comparison between the two, you can duplicate the same exact output less the n.p. and n.d. That is one of the minor drawbacks to using Legacy's SourceWriter pre-canned templates in that they are not directly editable. I've had the same problem and followed these instructions. While it does remove the 'unknown' spouse when I try to note in the marriage info that this individual never married it puts a spouse back as unknown! Where/how do you reflect the marriage information to reflect "Never Married"? gc On Sun, 09 Dec 2012 21:24:11 + Ron Ferguson writes: > Pat, > > Try View>Marriage List, and see if she has an unknown husband, if so > delete the marriage (Options>Delete) > --- > Ron Ferguson > http://www.fergys.co.uk/ > GOONS #5307 > > "Pat Hickin" wrote: > > >I have an individual (female) who was "never married" & had no > known > >children. Re: [LegacyUG] Indiv "never married" option unavailable
Pat, somehow an unknown spouse must be in there. Go to the spouse icon for the individual. You will probably find "Unknown" as a spouse. Click on that spouse and then Delete on the right side of the spouse listing screen. You will then find the option lit up to select never married and never had any children. MJ, if what you want to print (when you figure out the duplication and multiple color issues) doesn't have a PDF option, download a free PDF app--I used PDFCreator, which loads and "looks like" another print to your system... just select it as your "printer" and a PDF will be generated. --Paula in Texas Researching: Adair Baker Beasley Benson Betz Bigley Blagrave Burton Chapman Clement Clough Coppernoll Costine Daulton Dinwiddie Doody Ellis Exline Field Floran Floyd Gates Goodale Gordon Gump Hale Harbaugh Hind Hopkins Hughes Hurdle Jones Klein Koyle Laswell McDonald Misner Passwaters Pelton Roberts Roche Ryburn Sanford Short Singer Sullivan Weller Williams Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Help.asp Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). Re: [LegacyUG] Webinar_ Irish Ancestors
I want to say AMEN to Tessa's comments! And I want to say what a good job Geoff has done with these webinars. I've been "attending" the Legacy webinars since almost the beginning. The results have improved and set an example and standard. In my opinion Geoff has been the pioneer and trailblazer for genealogy webinars. I have no complaints. If I had one wish - I wish the content on the CDs was available to be downloaded instead of only on CD. Or maybe the "handout" could be available as a downloadable PDF for a fee like $5.00.
