Jim, Although you do not actually say so, I assume that your images are not showing in you personal or event screens/reports etc. If you moved your image files to Genealogy Data (I assume that you mean folder rather than file) and then could not find them, then this could well be because you haven't told Legacy you have moved them. Is this Location in the mulimedia paths, if not then that is likely to be you problem. --- Ron Ferguson http://www.fergys.co.uk/ GOONS #5307 James Gallagher gallagher.jame...@yahoo.com wrote: I will start from beginning:-When I click OPTIONS , then CUSTOMISE, I GO TO THE CUSTOMISE SCREEN I then click LOCATIONS, then Test all Multimedia Paths, then Check all Pictures [etc] comes up, I click on Proceed, Then I get the Error Master Source Not Found I click OK and then I get the MESSAGE one or More Multimedia files are Missing, when I view the Multimedia List every one in my files is on it so it seems. Assuming your files aren't actually 'missing' but are in the folder where you say you put them called Genealogy Data, you simply need to browse to that location (from the window you are/were at called Master Picture/Sound/Video/File Path List using the Add button and then click OK. That will set the file-path and everything should link up again. - JL Beeken JLog - simple computer technology for genealogists http://jlog.jgen.ws/ On 2/6/2013 3:34 PM, James Gallagher wrote: Sherry:-I did as you asked, I done it two times as the program suggested, the second time I seem to have got rid of the Error but the Missing Files Message still comes up with my entire family in it. Re: [LegacyUG] Missing Multimedia file
Hi Chuck, Have you gone to person #108 and taken a look at him/her? I've just been moving some folders around, so have some missing pictures myself at the moment that I haven't caught up yet, so now is a good time to do it... Running Options Customise Locations Test All Multimedia Paths produces a text file (Missing.txt) listing what it finds. In my report, run just now, the entry says: Picture: Catherine CARROLL [251] C:\Users\wendy\Dropbox\Family Documents\Photos\Photos - Schlager\CARROLL Catherine.jpg The Picture Gallery is the first place I would look. Click on the picture frame icon for that person, and (in my case, at least) a window comes up saying filename was not found within the picture/sound/video/file folders. There are four buttons provided to remedy the situation, and in my case I'm going to select the one Browse for the File Yourself (since I know where the file is now kept, having just moved it recently). A Load Picture File window opens, where you can navigate to where the file is located. Double-click on the right file to select it, then continue to save/close windows to complete the action. If this doesn't solve your problem, try checking any events for that person that have images attached (in case the test didn't catch those), and any sources that might have images attached. Hope this helps. :-) Kind Regards, Wendy Chuck Schober said the following on 7/02/2013 5:39 p.m.: The error message tells me that individual 108 is missing a file called abc. Re: [LegacyUG] Missing Multimedia file
108 refers to either the RIN or the MRIN, but probably the RIN. Record Identification Number. Those numbers in the bottom right of most screens; H, M, and W are the husband's RIN, the MRIN and the wife's RIN. Click in one the RIN boxes, a small window will come up. Type in 108, hit Enter and see where it takes you. Then click around through your picture galleries and you should see the missing file represented by a question mark. It may be in the individual's gallery or it may be attached (in this case, not attached) as a source document in one of the other picture galleries. - JL Beeken JLog - simple computer technology for genealogists http://jlog.jgen.ws/ On 2/6/2013 8:39 PM, Chuck Schober wrote: The error message tells me that individual 108 is missing a file called abc. RE: [LegacyUG] Missing File
Jim One other item you might check. Go to OptionsCustomizeLocations tab. Then click on the View Current List of Multimedia Files. This will display all paths that Legacy uses to find pictures from. Verify first, if your pathname ‘C:/Genealogy Data’ is listed, and listed correctly. If not you can click on the Add buton on the right to browse to that folder and add it to the list. This will allow Legacy to relink to those missing pics If this is the problem. Hope it helps.
