Jane, May I suggest that you take a look at my tutorial at: http://www.fergys.co.uk/Blogs/Y-DNA_Search.php Whilst this is mainly aimed at those requiring trees for DNA comparisons, I think it may be close to what you are looking for, if not it may be adaptable. Perhaps you could let us know. Go to File/Open, navigate to the folder where LEG8PAT.fdb can be found, click on the file, and click on Open. RE: [LegacyUG] Copy Role Sentences
It works between roles in the same event as well as between events. When you create the new role of wife, the default sentences are displayed. Click the Reset/Load button. You can then choose which event (can choose the same event as your current or another one) and which role in that event that you want to copy the sentences from. All 8 sentence definitions are copied from the selected role to your new role. Only difference from what you are asking is that instead of copying the old role and then renaming, you create the new role and then copy the sentences from an existing role. RE: [LegacyUG] One Direct Line Report
I'm not sure which report you want or how much detail, but try using tagging to mark just the individuals you want included and then create the report you want for just the tagged individuals. On the Relationship Calculator, under Options, you can tag the individuals in the displayed relationship chain. You can also tag using Advanced Tagging. You can do a Descendants tag from your ancestor, and then do an Ancestor Report of your tagged ancestors. There have been some previous discussions of similar cases that required exporting tagged individuals to a separate database in order to get the report exactly as desired. -Original Message- From: Jane Sarles [mailto:sarlesinsi...@gmail.com] Sent: Sunday, February 09, 2014 11:08 PM To: legacyusergroup@LegacyUsers.com Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] One Direct Line Report Thank you Brian. Re: [LegacyUG] File ID in source citation
If you go to Report menu Other Source Citations you can set up what you want from the Include and Options tabs. One of the options is to Include the source detail File ID. is that what you are looking for? As a matter of interest the Help File for Source Labels points to a Source Labels report, which does not appear to exist. What is probably intended is to point to the Source Citations report which is one of the Other reports. Either the whole Help item and its index should refer to Source Citations Report, or the report title should be changed to Source Labels report. Considering the content of that report, it would make more sense to amend the Help file (8-0545) Boyd On 11/02/2014 2:31 a.m., Jenny M Benson wrote: On 08/02/2014 14:13, Ellen Hilborn wrote: Can anyone tell me why my File ID numbers no longer display in the output preview or in the source labels? Re: [LegacyUG] One Direct Line Report
The problem there is - I get all my ancestor lines. I just want the line from me to my 7th great Eippy grandfather. I need it to show all those people inbetween - spouses, siblings of the direct ancestor, but only ones descended from the 7 ggfather down to me (and their spouses siblings) , not the other ancestor lines (of which I have more than 70. thanks for the idea. Jane On 2/10/2014 10:58 AM, singhals wrote: I'm confused then. Are you saying you need the siblings of everyone on your direct line? Re: [LegacyUG] One Direct Line Report
That sounds like an interesting project, but I am not sure I am at the level of expertise that I can accomplish it. I will try, but I have tried to work with the Relationship Calculator and haven't quite figured it out. I am unable to find a way to clear it and start over, for example. I wonder if tagging may be the answer, however. If it is possible to do an ancestor report and select only tagged people, that might do it. I will check on that. Jane On 2/10/2014 11:37 AM, Kurt Kneeland wrote: I'm not sure which report you want or how much detail, but try using tagging to mark just the individuals you want included and then create the report you want for just the tagged individuals. [LegacyUG] Search/Replace feature?
I need to search on a blank field and replace it with ZZZ so those names will sort to the END of the list instead of the top. I can't make it do it. When I leave the SURNAME field in the FIND box blank, it promptly erases whatever I put in the REPLACE field, whips through them and reports 0 replacements made. What am I doing wrong? Re: [LegacyUG] Search/Replace feature?
Never mind -- turned out I had a space in the field, and once I deleted that, it worked nicely. Spent nearly an hour playing with it before I asked; nice to know the magic still works. :] Cheryl singhals wrote: I need to search on a blank field and replace it with ZZZ so those names will sort to the END of the list instead of the top. Re: [LegacyUG] File ID in source citation
Neither Legacy 7.5 nor my Legacy 8 Build 385 or Build 397 has a Report titled Source Labels but all three have a Source Citations report. I can't find any reference to the term Source Labels in the L7.5 Help file. What version are you using? Re: [LegacyUG] File ID in source citation
My apologies, you're so right. I rarely use the Report tab to get to reports, rather I use the Report Menu icon on My Toolbar, which leads to the screen Select a Report. This list does not include Source Labels - wonder why not, and what else is missing? Curious then that there is no way I can find to get from Help files to the Source Citations report , which may be the answer to the original query on this subject.
