I tried numerous times again and still crashes. The media file is with the
data file in the Legacy folder. Not sure what to do. I also did the disk
clean ups.
Thanks for trying to help me,

Ruth,
You are likely running into this issue
BUT first check Options - Customise 6.2 and make sure that it is set to your
media folder. It's OK for it to have sub-folders. You set it to the top/parent
folder for media.

Otherwise see this re the Media Relinker crash:
This refers to the Media Relinker but the freeze can also happen with the File
Open option Have Legacy create a list of files. The solution is the same.

I just got a new computer and I am trying to relink my media to my tree.  I am
using the relink button.  It tells me I have over 4000 missing media files.
The program starts searching and runs for a bit and then Legacy shuts down.  I
have tried numerous times with the same results.  I have even copied the media
file from the Legacy folder (last try) and put it on my desktop.  There is no
way I am going to be able to relink all that media piece by piece.

Help please,
Ruth Frank

I use the user ID to easily tell when and where a person was born and
died. My ID could be 1918GE-2011WI for my mother. This says she was born
in 1918 in Germany and died in 2011 in Wisconsin. Also, an easy way to
tell people apart.

I had success getting rid of the messages coming to my inbox. What you need
to do is copy the address sending the email and then create a filter that
sends their email directly to the trash. As to the person that complained
about the complaints, I guess your complaint doesn’t count as a complaint.

Everyone on the list is getting this message. The only thing that will stop
it is if the list owner boots them. I would think they would have done it

I do and have used Find A Grave. How I use it. At the far right of the
burial line is a down arrow. Click on it and you will get 3 options,
address, photo and notes. In address I enter the cemetery address and any
information, in notes I place the plot location and photo a picture of the
grave. I also add any miscellaneous information in the notes section. My

Carrie,
I for one appreciate the comments about My Heritage since Legacy is now
directly linked to that site We all get the "hints" leading us to that
site so it is part of Legacy.

I would like to remind you that there is a delete button that is very easy
to use. Much better to use the delete button than to try and tell others
what they can or can not post.

Regards,
Ruth

Re: [LegacyUG] Name list User ID column

2017-12-03 Thread Ruth Frank via LegacyUserGroup
The original message to the list is in the attachment.

This action is required because of the DMARC Reject/Quarantine Policy
imposed by some email providers. Users who want to send messages
without conversion to attachments should use a different email address
for their subscription.

Known providers for free email accounts whose emails do not require
this conversion include gmail.com and hotmail.com. Many other email
providers will also work but you will have to give them a try.--- Begin Message ---
I have found a great use for the User ID. I enter the year of Birth annd
first 2 letters of state or country then a dash and same for death. Here
is what I am referring to A birth date of January 1, 1900 in Ohio with a
death date of July 15, 1973 in Indiana would be entered like this:
1900OH-1973IN This helps me find any duplicates in my tree easily or know
which person I want if I have more than 1 with the same name.
