Re: [LegacyUG] Remove Source Citations

2017-05-08 Thread Kris

Hi, Cathy --

Thanks for all the great info.

I'm actually doing the research again, but many of my earlier online
sources are no longer available. So far, I've had good luck, but I
don't want to trash all the work I've already done, just in case.

What you could do is to edit the Master Source slightly - just changing

as that's your finding aid for your Master Sources so the name needs to
follow a pattern you set. eg I start with Source type eg Census; Cem; PR
for Parish Register ...

When you edit a Master Source and click Save you get the option to apply
the change to all instances of the Master Source OR to a new copy.
Choose the new copy option.
Then return to highlight the original in the Master Source list and
click Options - Delete.
It will say it can't be deleted - do you want to see who uses it.
Say yes and on that next screen is a delete anyway button. So that would
achieve what I think you say you want. Note that the people using it now
have no indication that this source is relevant. So if that's not what
you meant, then you need to do them one at a time.

But if your Master Source is fine, then why not just edit the Source
Detail?

Sounds like you are actually doing a Go-Over seeing you want to keep
things. So don't forget to set tags to say you've "gone over" that
person or if you've switched to Legacy 9 you could use a number of
hashtags to describe what you've checked.

I'm slowly doing a Go-Over and tag on 9 when I've finished checking
sources and doing any further research I want to do at the moment. To
keep focussed, I stick to a particular branch. I've just completed one I
started in January. That one was mainly in South Australia. I'm looking
forward to starting another mainly in England to take advantage
particularly of Somerset Parish Registers that are now online. As part
of my Go-Over I'm checking all transcriptions I've used where possible.

I did the export/import GEDCOM but lost all the Master Sources in the

confirmation for each and every delete. I'll be dead before that gets
done.

I'm sure the export/import GEDCOM is the way to go, but I'm not sure
which items to remove from the export.

Thanks!

I am truly sorry for the e-mails. I have tried to locate the setting(s) in my
e-mail client to find out why it is sending out these e-mails. I will continue
to try to find what the problem is.
I do know that it only sends to those that e-mail me and every time they e-mail
me the mail client replies to the sender automatically for some reason. If I
can locate the e-mails I am receiving from you and it is an e-mail subscription
of some kind I will surely unsubscribe from the subscription .. Do you have
some kind of e-mail subscription/newsletter that you send out? If you do
could you list the name of the newsletter so I can watch for it and unsubscribe?
Please accept my apologies. I am working on finding why this happens and get
it to stop.

How about an option for a "Digest" type of email??

If you ever want to unsubscribe or change your options (eg, switch to
or from digest mode, change your password, etc.), visit your
subscription page at:

  http://legacyusers.com/mailman/options/legacyusergroup_legacyusers.com

You can also make such adjustments via email by sending a message to:

  legacyusergroup-requ...@legacyusers.com

with the word `help' in the subject or body (don't include the
quotes), and you will get back a message with instructions.

You must know your password to change your options (including changing
the password, itself) or to unsubscribe without confirmation.

Legacy support. Shutdown the old email list until you can fix the unsubscribe
option. It just isn't working. The one on the new system is however the 100 so
emails are being generated by the old system. You are annoying some very good
customers and are in danger of being registered as a generator of spam.

Re: [LegacyUG] Remove parenthesis around dates

2012-03-29 Thread Ron Ferguson
Julia,

I don’t think so, without saving them as an rtf and editing in Excel or
OpenOffice or similar (which btw. I do for all reports which I intend to
circulate).

When I add a photo of someone, I add info in the caption, date, description
fields. When I print out my reports, underneath the photo the date shows
parenthesis around it. Is there a way to remove these parenthesis?

Thanks,
Julia

RE: [LegacyUG] Remove parenthesis around dates

2012-03-29 Thread julia m

It doesn't look all the bad when there is something in the description field,
but if it's left blank, then it bothers me to have just the date in parens and
left justified. I usually generate PDFs straight away but I see what you mean
by using the RTF option editing.
Thanks,Julia
