RE: [LegacyUG] Same sex Marriages
Hi, I have been able to change the sex of my husband pretty easily, but when I try and do ancestry reports for our children it will only do the report of the spouse in the Male (for two guys) or female (for two girls) spots. That happens for all same sex couples in my reports. I know that this has been in the pipeline for quite a long time because I brought it up almost a year and half ago. Work arounds are OK but a permanent fix would be fantastic. The use of a word processor to amend final text is clearly far easier in my case than attacking the database with MS Access even though I do have and use that. I am concerned that the fix will leave my database vulnerable as you say to other issues and add ins not working. I wonder if anyone has a template of how they handled it post production with a word processor in their tree? Can you give any indication Jim when the problem will be resolved in the software though? Hopefully before the following tree publication in 5 month time. Adrian, Respectfully, if Legacy8 is such a disaster for you then why not revert to Legacy7 and eliminate the disasters you are apparently experiencing. As a software tester by profession, I wouldn't categorize this as a bug. It is an enhancement to add this functionality to the program. And as Jim stated, it will affect most of the program. Thanks for your prompt reply Jim. Jamie, I know not everyone has MS Access, that's why I said in my initial reply to Stan Baker, "If you need assistance with the work around, please send me a message at supp...@legacyfamilytree.com." Jim Terry, Your article is fine if one has MS Access on their computer. Further, this article is getting close to being two years old. I would hope that the folks that write the updates for Legacy would have had added support for same sex marriages long before now. [LegacyUG] Same sex Marriages
I am new to this mailing list so my apologies if it has been covered before. I have been using Legacy for over 20 years and have a tree with about 7000 names including over 4000 living, most of which are recorded with full contact details including email phone and physical addresses and occupation. I am now using the latest version 8 but have not in the past encountered any issues in using the software and have never had to resort to a forum such as this. In the past a General note has been added describing details of same sex relationships where the parties are keen for this to be recorded. Over recent years same sex marriage have become legal in many countries and 3 families in my tree have such a marriage and understandably expect their marriage to be treated as any other marriage which is required by law. One such family has children with the same sex people legal parents. The next family tree is due to be published in 6 weeks' time. Currently it is not possible to change the recorded sex of a spouse all report wording therefore records them wrongly as him or her, he or she. Can anyone advise how they have worked around this problem please other than manually changing reports in a word processor before release.
