RE: [LegacyUG] Update Problems
Cathy, The update was on the server but did not trigger my program that it was available. This shouldn't happen no matter where the program is installed or where the family file is located. The program and data are in the default locations and 1.2 is set to open the last family file opened. The strange thing is that this is the second time it has happened to me and not in consecutive updates. The last time was early in the version 8 history. If no one else has this problem it must be with my setup. Everything is in the default locations and nothing strange about my data. Can't put my finger on what could be causing this. Thanks for your ideas. Re: [LegacyUG] Update Problems
Hi Bobby, To see a new update on the Legacy Home Tab you have to have started Legacy after the update is on the server. The other problems you had seem very strange. Are you sure it opened the same file you'd been working on and not another copy? Where is the program installed? Where is your file? What setting do you have at Option 1.2? [LegacyUG] Update Problems
After viewing several posts on this list indicating a new update was available, I clicked on the "Legacy Home" tab. Here it indicated that 414 was the latest build. This is the second time a new update was not been correctly identified here. By clicking on the "Update" header above the message that I have the latest build the "Check for Updates" window opened. I was able to update from there without going to the Update web page and downloading the file. After completing the update I had over 6000 media files missing. The relinker quickly fixed this problem. The "Startup" family was also changed. I can't seem to get a handle on what might have caused these problems. Anyone have suggestions as to how to avoid this in the future? Agreed. All the data was there...just double printed overlays if you could read it. Have hit the reset buttons several times to default and closed the program down, but still repeats the overprinting. Does this whether the page has a border or no border. Also the default produced by Legacy tag line at the bottom of the page is split to left and right of the page and not at the foot of the page. Re: [LegacyUG] Update Problems Reports
Paula, I pretty well agree with what you are saying. Sometimes someone may write to say that, say, a report is messed up, or similar, and I think we all leave it to someone else thinking s/he will ask what on earth it is about; then we forget about it, unless somebody does ask the questions. As a minimum we need to know in detail what the problem is, any changes made prior to the problem, what actions had been taken that led to the problem, including settings, what the result was, what Legacy version is being used and whether deluxe or basic, and anything else that may be relevant. Re: [LegacyUG] Update Problems Reports
I tested and acknowledged a problem with a blank fonts screen when accessing reports. That issue has been fixed by the programmers and is being tested by our beta testers. I am not aware of nor have I acknowledged reports of scrambled data. Ron, I have deleted the thread now, but I seem to recollect Brian saying that it had been sent to the programmers. Bobby, The answer to your last question is "yes", and I understand that they are working to resolve the problem(s). BTW. I think that advising your group not to update at this stage is good advice, and I have similarly advised my associates in the UK.
