I sometimes get the same problem - a program stability issue?. If you click on the Updates box this usually wakes up the internet connection (or so it seems). I've cleared my cache and the Legacy News comes back then goes away again. When you click on "Make sure you are connected to the internet and then click here to retrieve the latest news items," nothing comes up. This just happens on the Legacy Home tab under Legacy News. If I click on the Internet Tab at the top of the program, it will take me to the internet. Is there a setting in Legacy somewhere that stops the program from connecting to the internet through Legacy News? Re: [LegacyUG] v800-397 & Internet
Mike's comment about IE is not entirely true. The Legacy Home tab uses the Internet Explorer (IE) engine which is built into Windows so anything in that tab which uses the internet such as displaying the Legacy News and the links in the support section open the links in IE. Any election by the user to open a link on those web pages in a new window (via the right click menu) will open IE to display the site. Legacy does use your default browser to: a. View web page files on your computer after you create them; b. Internet > Search Internet or Search > Search Internet; and c. The link to the Legacy Home page on the Internet ribbon. Ann, I also am using the Chrome browser. Chrome worked when I had Legacy 7.5. Debbie, I also have this problem. I use Chrome browser. The only way I can access the Legacy News is to change browser to Internet Explorer. Read the Legacy News and change back to Chrome. I did read the Online Troubleshooting Help. To me the what to do was even more complicated. I have the problem too with 8.0.0.397. On the Legacy Home tab, under Legacy News, it says 'Make sure you are connected to the internet and then click here to retrieve the latest news items'. When you click on it, nothing comes up. Debbie On Wed, Feb 5, 2014 at 4:12 PM, C.G. RE: [LegacyUG] v800-397 & Internet
Updated to 397 this morning, no connection problems with Legacy Home or Legacy Family Search. By the way, I notice that the ‘taskbar icon’ when Legacy Family Search is open has a green ‘L’ so I can differentiate from the regular Legacy program (blue ‘L’). Is this new in 397, or did I just not notice it before? A little thing, but very helpful. Paul Gray From: C.G.
