Microsoft in all their wisdom. created "Snap Assist" to auto arrange our
windows

Try adjusting your Windows from auto snapping your windows. If you don't
like this just redo these steps.

  Windows 10
To disable Snap Assist (Windows 10) launch the Settings app from your Start
Menu. From the Settings window, click System. Find & click Multitasking in the
column on the left. Under the “Snap” category on the right set choices to Off.
This will disable Snap Assist in Windows 10.

Windows 7 - to stop window snapping
Open up your Control Panel, and then go to the Ease of Access center. From
there, click on “Make the mouse easier to use”… And then remove the checkbox
for “Prevent windows from being automatically arranged when moved to the edge
of the screen”, and then click the Apply button to actually save the setting

Re: [LegacyUG] Window size

2016-03-21 Thread Cathy Pinner
If you can't resize your Legacy window, check the window options next to
About on the ribbon. If your database isn't fullsize in the Legacy
window (as it isn't when you use SplitScreen) when you try to resize the
window, it bounces or can't be changed.

Note also, if the text is a bit fuzzy in Windows 10 for Legacy or other
programs (and I think this is only a problem on laptops with high
resolution screens) right click on the Legacy program icon and choose
Properties. Then on the Compatibility tab check Disable display scaling
on high DPI settings. I've had to do this for a number of programs and
suddenly everything is crystal clear again.

2016-03-21 Thread Martha Graham

Hi Pat,
I have the same problem and basically, I just keep at it until it
cooperates. Moving the downsized window to the left a bit seems to help.
I think part of the problem is that some features do not compress very
well. The index is one of them. The size of the columns and the amount
of data in each one can make a difference too.

I can’t find any option within Legacy to “remember last window size”

I’ve overlooked it) but I know that most Windows programs tend to always
reopen their window to the last used size. Legacy seems to be an exception

the same exact half-size or something else.

RE: [LegacyUG] Window Size

2015-03-09 Thread Brian L. Lightfoot
Thanks, Sherry. You'd think that after all these years I would have remembered
that those settings were written to a Legacy USR file. Of course now, in
looking at the data in any of the USR files, it is merely a long list of
values. I sure miss the old days when programs used .INI files. At least a user
could make sense of those because they usually carried the name of the
parameter followed by its value. Sigh.

Brian,

Manually resized the Legacy window to about ½ of the monitor screen. My window
size remains the same size, following a close and reopen.

The only place I can find where a setting might dictate the Legacy screen size
was where you can set Legacy to display two open files side by side, not
something that would likely apply to your situation.
