I know several were having probelms connecting Legacy Family Search
with the website but when they contacted the Church's Support by
phone, they were readily helped and able to get connected.

2012-10-01 Thread Kay Fordham
I am not LDS. I registered for the regular Familysearch site in June 2010.
That user name and password also get me in to the new FamilySearch program.
It appears that their process has some disconnects since some non-LDS are
able to access and others are not. I'm sure this will all get worked out in
time.

Jane,

If you are not LDS (a member of the Mormon Church), in March of 2011 The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints began inviting members of the
English speaking general public to register for and have access to the new
FamilySearch program. This opportunity is currently available by invitation.
It will continue to be implemented, gradually, until it is available
worldwide.

A member of the general public may register to be given access to the new
FamilySearch program through the registration page by invitation. Please
visit http://www.familysearch.org/invite/public1 to open the registration
page. This is a different manner of registering and a different web site
than what you used. It's almost a secret

I'm not LDS and have an account and know a lot of other non-LDS who

You'll need to contact the church. There's nothing we can do about this.

Go the family search site, click on Help, then on Contact us.

I contacted them several times about all of this pushing the use of the site
and then NOT allowing anyone to really join.

I was even getting emails asking to join. I finely told them to either approve
my account or stop ALL mailings. Next day I got an email stating that my
account had been approved.

Thanks,
