Run-time error 5 can happen at different times and when totally different things in Legacy. In order for our programmers to be able to fix a problem they first must be able to reproduce it. If they can't reproduce it, they have no way of diagnosing the cause. If you can send us the steps that consistently reproduce the problem on their computers the programmers will work on it. Jim, This error has only started occurring for me after upgrading to V8, the previous versions I've used never caused this error. Legacy is an excellent program and the best I've found for genealogy recording and this is the only major negative point that I have found so far with V8. No other program I have ever used, genealogy use or otherwise, has had this problem, but then I may just have been lucky! I hate to be so out of it, but do these errors only happen when folks have Legacy connected to the internet and Family Search or can these things happen even when a person is just using Legacy within their own computer? I am wondering what to worry about and what I don't need to even consider. I just use the program within my computer. I'm running Windows Vista with all updates and bug fixes and I've had this error for quite a while, for me this only happens when I run my mouse over the index view. I have tried all that is recommend below, which did work for a short time, but the only way I have found that appears to help more is to run check and repair very frequently.
