Here are some quick thoughts * in dialogs and toolbars this could be used for an advanced color selection * we shouldn't remove the use of a set of common colors defined in one or several palettes. * That dialog would be even nicer if it remembers the previously picked (10 or so) colors. There is one binary included in the patch, which looks like a git patch can handle. If not, here is the image http://dl.dropbox.com/u/10629960/colorslider.png It should be placed in default_images/res My changes and new code are MPL 1.1 / GPLv3+ / LGPLv3+ licensed. To any reviewers. The code in the new dialog may look a bit complicated at places. There where two difficulties in this feature causing this. First, the rendering of the color field at the left and the color slider on the right where a huge performance problem in my first implementation. So I did some loop unrolling and lookup table stuff to make it usable. Second problem are rounding errors when converting between different color spaces. Therefore the rgb color is saved as doubles and some care has been taken that the conversion is not jittering. Great work ! But, don't forget that is more diffcult to retrieve twice the same color with this picker. With the old picker, there are predefined colors and it's easy to retrieve a color already used on the document because predefined colors are limited to ~50 colors. With the new picker, colors are not limited and we should know parameters of the color (RGB...) to retrieve the same color. There will cool to have a table of used colors on the same document to retrieve more easily colors already used on the document when he search a color. Interestingly, enabling cross-compilation will benefit LO builds for Windows hugely... Right - so, as one precursor we really want to help with moving ~everything to gnumake so we only have to do the heavy lifting in one place. Of course, that has a great knock-on effect of improving our build speed, and as a side-effect having a great synergy with our end-goal of moving to cross-compiling the Windows builds. What is interesting in this discussion here and earlier on the discuss list is that nobody seems to ponder how the user interface of (a subset of) LibreOffice running on a tablet/touch device should look and work. Surely designing that is equally hard as overcoming technical build hurdles or restructuring what gets built. This is of course an excellent point :-) However, it is clear that with lots of complementary, baby-steps in the right direction, we will get somewhere useful in the end. Or do you really expect people to want to use the normal LibreOffice GUI with hierarchical menus and other stuff from a desktop style GUI on a touch device? Not in the end-game; but as a demo to generate lots of interest, and attract more developers to help re-work the chrome: I think this would be a wonderful first-step. If we're going to bundle this stuff, I would strongly prefer it to be in C++ in this instance here are few reasons why: * performance - marshalling each function call and arguments via UNO to Java is a disaster: so for heavy engineering function usage, this is not a good idea. * dependencies - lots of (particularly Windows) users don't have Java, and things that require it create very annoying usability problems * re-factoring #2 - I (for one) have plans to re-write the calc computation storage engine to be substantially faster, this may require a chunk of re-work to functions themselves, across languages that is harder. So - if you can write in C++, and are happy with the MPL/LGPLv3+ dual-license, I'd love to get your stuff included. Do you have a build of LibreOffice ? [Libreoffice] GSOC: performance improvement ...
Hi Matus, Great to have you working on this for the summer :-) Perhaps it is a good time to start digging into the code that references the default_icons/res/commandimagelist/ to shrink those paths. I don't think this really needs to take that long to do :-) Doing a quick ./g grep commandimagelist # shows that there are loads of duplicate instances of this string in the help translations too ;-) so presumably we can help to shrink that as well. So - I guess the first step is to move all the res/commandimagelist/ icons in default_images/ and ooo_custom_images/* into a top-level 'cmd' directory, or perhaps even 'c/' if we want it really short :-) Having done that, then you need to poke the files that reference that. The key ones are in framework/ (if you want to see results), but we'll need to clean them all up. When you've done your work; re-building in packimages/ should re-make the .zip files we want: cd packimages/ rm -Rf unxlngi6.pro build and you should be able to re-run and see the results (with a linked build). I append a list of other pieces to tweak - hopefully this is complete. Of course, you should do this vs. master. solenv/bin/image-sort.pl:my $iname = res/commandimagelist/ . $prefix . $icon . .png; This is used by packimages/ to sort the .zip file contents into the order they are accessed in for faster startup. ooo_custom_images/human/CopyrightsHuman:/res/commandimagelist/sc_incrementsublevels.png ooo_custom_images/oxygen/CopyrightsTango:All icons under the /res/commandimagelist/ directory, with filenames begi We should update the paths referenced in these text files :-) reportdesign/source/ui/dlg/CondFormat.src: res/commandimagelist/sc_bold.png ; SID_ATTR_CHAR_WEIGHT ; ; desktop/source/deployment/gui/dp_gui_backend.src:ImageBitmap = Bitmap { File = commandimagelist/sc_helperdialog.bmp; }; Several .src files have paths that will need this change, referring to explicit icons. sc/source/ui/miscdlgs/optsolver.cxx:// Get the Delete Rows commandimagelist images from sfx instead of sc/source/ui/src/toolbox.src:// Don't use this image list for normal toolbar images. See here for a video demo http://youtu.be/rPu6EmIxkIM?hd=1 To see it in the running office you can for example go to menu tools-options-colors and press edit So it's only meant as color picker to define a new standard color? This would be a great improvement over the present menu and There are just a few questions open I can't understand from your video: When clicking on the round button at the side of the RGB and HSB values (do you want to add this for CMYK too?) it seems that this keeps the entry constant during selection of any point in the large color field. When you move the focus on the small color bar at the side of the color area the fixed values seem to move. Do you want to add a description to these buttons (or did you already) to explain to the user what happens when he clicks on them? By the way: Did we already implement any bugzilla keyword or wiki page pointing documentation team (including help creators) and UX to areas they should know of? Re: [Libreoffice] [Patch] make the OOXML import filter use sheet local db data
Hi Markus, This patch is great! Thanks! I guess, you have the git access now, could you please push it to master? Also, for the export part - if you haven't already done, i.e. - could you check it with office-o-tron once? Thanks again, Muthu Subramanian On 05/06/2011 08:33 PM, Kohei Yoshida wrote: On Thu, 2011-05-05 at 18:26 +0200, Markus Mohrhard wrote: Hello, I hope that this is the last patch regarding the new sheet local db data. This patch allows the OOXML import use the sheet local db data. Yup, this looks good also. I'll poke Bubli and Muthu since this is their area, but I think it's okay to push this one as I don't see anything alarming. Bubli, Muthu, please stream if I'm wrong. :-) Kohei ___ LibreOffice mailing list LibreOffice@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice
Re: [Libreoffice] First build resumed but failed on incomplete dependancies
Hi Christian,*: Man you are so patient with me and I bow to you. On 2011-05-06, at 4:37 PM, Christian Lohmaier wrote: snip If that is all, you installed ccache, but no build will use it. To use it you must either set symlinks of the compiler's name to ccache and put those links in a path that is searched before the real compiler (that is how I have it setup), or you need to set CC=ccache gcc-4.0 and CXX=ccache g++-4.0 It's described in the manpage. At this stage I do not want to setup symbolic links. My own fun projects are not large enough to benefit. What I did was an ./autogen.sh --with-max-jobs=8 --with-num-cpus=8 --disable-mozilla the log shows this. checking whether we are allowed and able to use --ccache-skip... probing... checking for ccache... /usr/local/bin/ccache checking whether version of ccache is suitable... no configure: ccache version 3.1.4 not accepted. See description for --enable-ccache-skip . So it seems at though autogen doesn't like this version. Is that what you expected? The autogen produced a MacOSXX86Env.Set.sh file in libo I edited that to set CC=ccache gcc-4.0 and CXX=ccache g++-4.0 Then in Terminal I did source MacOSXX86Env.Set.sh env This showed up: CXX=ccache /usr/bin/g++-4.0 This did not: CC=ccache /usr/bin/g++-4.0 Did you expect this? Also for LO, you should increase the size of the cache from the default of 500MB to 1GB or more ccache -s shows max cache size 1.0 Gbytes man page says it's default snip If after this configure run, MacOSX*Env.Set.sh contains export USE_CCACHE=TRUE, then it is a bug. If instead it is part of the unset lots of variables line, then the configure check is all OK, and the build should not fail like it did anymore. USE_CCACHE is in the unset list So far so good. Next I did make This was really fun to watch in Activity Monitor as it sure made use of the 8 cores and 16 threads. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35673 --- Comment #69 from rygle pit...@post.com 2011-05-06 21:04:28 PDT --- Nominating https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=32709 This bug is a regression from OOo that means no file exported as ppt format can be opened by a MS Office product that has up to date patches. It has been around since December and affects every version ever made of LibreOffice, but does not affect any version of OpenOffice as far as I am aware, and I have installed all the betas and several nightlies as well as releases. The bug has clear and defined test cases, and it should be relatively simple to find where the regression occurred, because it happened very early on and only affects a fairly specific part of LibreOffice. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email --- You are receiving this mail because: --- You are on the CC list for the bug. ___ LibreOffice mailing list LibreOffice@lists.freedesktop.org http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice
