As you are on Linux, it should actually be throwing you into a virtual console
(it does for me on Arch Linux with KDE and I can get back with Ctrl+Alt+F1):
https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/690816/242927
https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/6/html/installation_guide/sn-guimode-virtual-consoles-ppc

The shortcut is disabled also on Windows. I should ask about it in the chat.

FWIW, I can see the same on MS Windows with LO 24.8 alpha daily built
2024-04-23, but I wonder... So what? Is there any negative consequence of
having these 3 transparent corners?

Misalignment ODS test

Although I am not completely sure, I think I can replicate the problem with LO
24.8 alpha built today 2024-04-23.

Version: 24.8.0.0.alpha0+ (X86_64) / LibreOffice Community
Build ID: ea43cbbb7371a743f470d949762a0e92f196e652
CPU threads: 4; OS: Windows 10.0 Build 19045; UI render: Skia/Raster; VCL: win
Locale: en-US (es_AR); UI: en-US
Calc: CL threaded

I am attaching a simple ods file.

STR:
1. Open the attachment
2. Modify the zoom factor; zooming-out shows the problem easier, but also
zooming-in (e.g. [CTRL]+(mouse wheel)).

The misplacement (or misalignment) of the "$" sign is seen under some zoom
factors, especially when zooming-out to very small zoom values.

3. (Optional) The cells' alignment is set to "default", so the visual effect is
seen on the left side of the cells. If the column/cells are changed to align to
the left, then the visual effect is seen on the right side (on the numbers)
when modifying the zoom factor.

Note that the visual effect is not seen with mono-spaced fonts, or at least not
so clearly.

Up to LO 7.6.5.2, the visual misplacement according to zoom factors is
relatively small. OTOH, since LO 24.2, the misplacement/misalignment is much
evident (up to a diagonal completely out of the cell borders when using some
very small zoom factors).

It should be noted that this behavior might be an unwanted consequence of a
valid modification; it might be unavoidable. I tend to use mono-spaced fonts
when (numeric) alignment is desired.

Dear Telesto,

To make sure we're focusing on the bugs that affect our users today,
LibreOffice QA is asking bug reporters and confirmers to retest open, confirmed
bugs which have not been touched for over a year.

There have been thousands of bug fixes and commits since anyone checked on this
bug report. During that time, it's possible that the bug has been fixed, or the
details of the problem have changed. We'd really appreciate your help in
getting confirmation that the bug is still present.

If you have time, please do the following:

Test to see if the bug is still present with the latest version of LibreOffice
from https://www.libreoffice.org/download/

If the bug is present, please leave a comment that includes the information
from Help - About LibreOffice.

If the bug is NOT present, please set the bug's Status field to
RESOLVED-WORKSFORME and leave a comment that includes the information from Help
- About LibreOffice.

Please DO NOT

Update the version field
Reply via email (please reply directly on the bug tracker)
Set the bug's Status field to RESOLVED - FIXED (this status has a particular
meaning that is not
appropriate in this case)

If you want to do more to help you can test to see if your issue is a
REGRESSION. To do so:
1. Download and install oldest version of LibreOffice (usually 3.3 unless your
bug pertains to a feature added after 3.3) from
https://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/

2. Test your bug
3. Leave a comment with your results.
4a. If the bug was present with 3.3 - set version to 'inherited from OOo';
4b. If the bug was not present in 3.3 - add 'regression' to keyword

Feel free to come ask questions or to say hello in our QA chat:

[Bug 160788] New: LibreOffice made my computer glitch out randomly and I lost everything I'd typed.

2024-04-22 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160788

Bug ID: 160788
Summary: LibreOffice made my computer glitch out randomly and I
lost everything I'd typed.
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.6.6.3 release
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: brannonon...@me.com

Description:
I was typing a short story and had about two pages when suddenly my screen went
black and I couldn't do anything. I tried and tried but eventually I had to
turn the thing off and on again. When I turned it on, it said that LibreOffice
had caused my computer to crash and that I should report the bug. It gave me
the chance to recover my document, but the document it recovered was blank. All
my work was gone. I am very upset by this. This is my first time using
LibreOffice and this is what it has done to me. I have no clue how this
happened or how to recreate it.

Actual Results:
I don't even know how this happened, it just glitched and my screen went black.
I could move and see the mouse, but that was it.

Expected Results:
It should have been able to handle me typing a short story.

Reproducible: Didn't try

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
The most painful thing is that my work is lost. Is this to be expected when
using this? Is there no way to save it?

Indeed, Miklos' c900850742efd4e1fb7c79c13c1b9a17fcd4981d does fix the removal
of the header on paste.
This is the situation since that commit:

1. Writer
2. Type "header" in header and "footer" in footer
3. Insert a shape and type text inside it
4. Copy that text and paste in the document body: header and footer emptied
_but still exist_
5. Ctrl + Z: pasted text removed
6. Ctrl + Z: shape text removed
7. Ctrl + Z: shape removed
8. Ctrl + Z: nothing (supposed to be "undo typing 'footer'", so cursor moves to
footer)
9. Ctrl + Z: header text restored; footer removed
10. Ctrl + Z: header text removed
11. Ctrl + Z: header removed
12. Close Writer: crash

@Miklos: note that I couldn't crash it at c900850742~1, nor at d918beda2a~1, so
maybe something you want to have a look at?

@Quikee: any chance you could look at the regression caused by
4b0fa253a4540f5461397815d290586f9ddabe61?

No, you have to scroll up and look at the stack.. A crash happened in:
#11
/home/tdf/lode/jenkins/workspace/lo_gerrit/Config/linux_gcc_release_64/instdir/program/libmergedlo.so(_ZNK12OutputDevice11ImplNewFontEv+0x106)

[0x7f9c57e17034]

Or if you look before stack dump you see: "terminating test due to
missing font: Rockwell" - which is indeed the font used in the
document.

I think you have just taken the document from the bug document. I
strongly recommend not to do this. You know what specifically is
wrong, so the best is to reproduce the bug in a clean document and you
will end up with a test document that is smaller, is focused to show
precisely what the bug is without anything unneeded and will avoid
issues like this.

Also I recommend to name the bug with what is tested in addition to
the bug number or put the bug number in the comments inside the test.

OK, this makes more sense now. The Ryzen 5 5600H APU has integrated graphics,
and the laptop also has discrete GPU Radeon RX 5500M (Navi 14).

So you can use the AMD Radeon Settings and use the "Switchable Graphcis" tab to
assign the LibreOffice program (soffice.exe/soffice.bin) to always run in "High
Performance". Restart, verify the settings. Then launch LibreOffice again.

May still get the graphics test assert and fallback, but you should be able to
manually adjust the LibreOffice profile for 'UseSkia' and 'ForceSkiaRaster' to
check behavior with Skia / Vulkan rendering or forced Skia / Raster rendering.

Please test and let us know.

Pertinent details from the GLview 7.0 run 7-zip archive, in attachment 193809

For some reason, system is reporting two GPUs to GLview:

AMD Radeon(TM) Graphics
1.3.260
1638
1002
2.0.279

and oddly, also

Radeon RX 5500M
1.3.277
7340
1002
2.0.299

resources assigned to the first are minimal, while the second Radeon RX 5500M
should be primary APU for this laptop.

The "successful" LO launch/skia.log is for the first generic Radeon Graphics
device. So could be Vulkan calls passed into that GPU are causing the
assert/fallback.

Not apparent that our simple deny list process can accommodate? Meanwhile,
edit the LO user profile 'registrymodifications.xcu' [1] and set the Skia
stanzas UseSkia and ForceSkiaRaster to "True" [2]

=-ref-=
[1] defaults into user %APPDATA% so normally
C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\LibreOffice\4\User
[2] these stanzas in the .XCU to force Skia / raster rendering
true
true

I understand what you are saying and I will continue to collect more
information. Given what I've tried, I don't think it is a keyboard issue since
I've tried multiple keyboards and the same behavior was observed. I will try
using the keyboard along with the "4" key in other applications to observe the
behavior.

In cells expecting currency in USD, the dollar sign is near the left edge of
the cell in 7.5.4.1, but in 24.2.1.2 it gets shifted further left so it's on

While this isn't a functional bug, it makes me wonder what other artifacts
there may be.

2.
3.

Actual Results:
Dollar sign is aligned on left border of cell

Expected Results:
Dollar sign lies completely inside the cell.

OK, thanks for the test doc. With sample 2 (attachment 193805) there is
something not correct with the Navigation mode.

Easily demonstrable by entering 'Headings' Navigation mode--then using the
'Previous Heading' or 'Next Heading'.

The SB Navigator deck focus highlight should move from Heading to Heading.

Instead while the edit cursor focus on canvas does move to next or previous
Heading button action, the SB deck focus highlight jumps to the Sections
objects and remains there--even though edit cursor focus is moving between
header

@Jim, any ideas?

Unfortunately looking at this again for dupe bug 160785, and these UNO are only
for the Print Preview modes.

I was wrong, sorry!

Actual controls on the Status Bar UI are in viewlayoutctrl.cxx [1] and will
need new UNO to implement.

But continue to think addition to the main View would be useful.

If the developers consider changing the "Next style" of a style to be a
fundamentally different style and that this somehow totally changes some sort
of binding spec, then fine. I regularly change the next style for paragraph and
page styles. A style that dictates that a page will only appear on the
right-hand side or the left-hand side of a book still has a name that gives me
a hint of what it does if it's named a Right/Left page, even if the next style
used has been changed from the default.

Oops. First timer.

I also have a problem with a field wrapping to the next line but the next line
starting with one of the spaces which messes up the justification.

[Bug 160686] "Left Page" and "Right Page" are nonsensical and should be removed

Right/Left correlates to Odd/Even page numbers in books written in English. If
another language opens and reads their books from the opposite direction and
the first left hand page is considered to be page 1, then it would be the
Left/Right order of pages that would would correlate to Odd/Even pages. I am
not familiar with books in RTL languages, but if that is the case, I would
consider Right/Left to be terms that would more broadly cover both scenarios
better than trying to use Even/Odd.
