@Rainer Bielefeld
I am pretty sure that this problem has nothing to do with LibO Version and /
or our problems.
Then, why it worked perfectly fine up to 3.6.5.2 and the suddenly stopped
working with 4.0? Same file, the only difference is LO version. Three different
PCs, all with Win7, two 32 bit editions, one 64 bit edition.

I tried making two page styles. The two page styles are largely the same: the
Next style is set as the same page style, 1 inch margins, headers and footers
on, but different on the first page. the only exception (besides the name of
the page style) is that one of the page styles is set to landscape and the
other isn't.

I started with the vertical page style, when I was done editing the page style
I click apply and then ok.

I do the same thing with the horizontal page style, but this time clicking on
Apply the page style window hangs and it's title show a (Not Responding)

I can do this from a blank writer document consistently. I have also had the

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59029

--- Comment #11 from Maxime de Roucy maxime.dero...@linagora.com ---
I understand why you are confused…

It's a problem of definition of character and paragraph format. The paragraph
formats are the format applied to the whole paragraph.
The character format are those applied to a portion of the paragraph.

Be careful though, if you apply the bold format to a whole paragraph, so the
bold format is a paragraph format, and then unblod a portion of this paragraph,
the bold format is still a paragraph format. This paragraph is divided in to
parts, one without character format and one with the unbold character format.

I hope it's clearer.

I think I will modify the help.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61604] New: Format paint brush and conditional formatting with formula

2013-02-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61604

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61604
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Format paint brush and conditional formatting with
formula
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: mohith.ma...@skanray.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: Spreadsheet
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 75680
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=75680action=edit
Copy conditional formatting using format paint brush

Say I enter the formula '=A1' in cell D16 of a spreadsheet. If I copy D16 and
paste it in E16, the formula in E16 would read '=B1'.

The same behavior is expected when format paint brush is used to copy
formatting info from one cell to another where conditional formatting using
formula is involved.

In the attached document, I have set conditional formatting for cell A1 using
condition 'A1=0'. After copying the formatting to cell B1 using format paint
brush, when I check the condition (in B1), it reads 'C1=0'!!!

When I try entering the condition 'A2=0' in cell B2 and then copy it to C2
(using format paintbrush of course), the condition reads 'B2=0'. Now this
behavior is correct.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61606] New: LibreOffice should import and export custom XML parts in Office Open XML documents

2013-02-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61606

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61606
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: LibreOffice should import and export custom XML parts
in Office Open XML documents
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: wolfgang.silberm...@gmail.com
  Hardware: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: filters and storage
   Product: LibreOffice

Created attachment 75682
  -- https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=75682action=edit
A file with a custom XML part inside.

The Office Open XML document format allows custom XML files to be included in
the zip file (Spec Part 1, §15.2.5). This is for programs to store information
in these files and they should be kept there even when an office program opens
and saves the file.
When opening such a document in LibreOffice and saving it again, the custom
parts are lost. Depending on the workflow of the third-party tools, this can
cause loss of data which is expected to be kept in the document.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open the attached file file-with-custom-xml.xlsx with a zip program, and
see the contents. There is a folder called custom with a file called
custom.xml, and the files /[Content_Types].xml as well as the
/_rels/.rels contain references to this file.
2. Open the file in MS Office 2007 or later, save it under a new filename. See
the contents of the file, the custom folder with the file inside is still
there.
3. Open the file in LibreOffice, save it under a new filename. See the contents
of the file, the folder is gone.

It would be nice if LibreOffice ignores the contents of these files, so one is
not limited to putting XML inside. Microsoft Office ignores the contents, so
any other file type can be used.

When there is no reference in the [Content_Types].xml or the .rels file, the
custom files can be safely deleted.

Problem description:

A very annoying feature of newer versions of LO is that the printing dialog
doesn't remember that you printed handouts. Let's say you need to first print
handouts for slides 1-50, then from 100-110, then from 130-140. Every time you
open the printing dialog again, it is set back to the Slides default, which
is very impractical and illogical from a user's point of view. It doesn't need
to remember this setting on saving and loading the ODP file, but within one
session, it should.

And yes, this *did* work with an older LO/OOo version, I just don't remember
when that changed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Just open an ODP file and print handouts several times.

Current behavior:
Doesn't remember value for Print-Document pull-down menu between printing

Expected behavior:
Should remember value for Print-Document pull-down menu between printing

Hi David; thanks for that - yes, I strongly suspect the header/footer widgets
are created for -every-page-in-the-universe- regardless of whether they are
visible or not. That in turn creates some nightmare scalability problems.

I guess some more work to improve that would be good :-) but for now we fixed
the scalability problem of ~1000's of VCL child-windows in writer :-)

Thanks for closing.

Ah well, so our B2DTuple are doubles and it would be pretty dramatic to change
that to floats at this stage to use floats throughout LibreOffice and
presumably converting them to floats just at the point of insertion into opengl
is effectively the same thing that the driver does already and would gain
nothing.

that merely indicates that some data LO had cached about which JRE to use had
become stale, and would typically self-heal, latest when you do something in LO
that actually requires Java.

I agree with comment #2 - the current behaviour is not user friendly.
Displaying ### doesn't make it obvious that the column is too narrow, it
indicates that there is a problem with the data. Considering that ### is what
is used when an incorrect formula is entered, it's more likely that the user
will attempt to fix the data rather than expanding the column.

Why does the date behave differently from other data types in the spreadsheet?
Wouldn't visual consistency be more beneficial to the user experience?

The most simple way to get some progress here is that you answer questions

Currently we do not get that working on any PC with any Office Software. That's
the difference to your problem, what appeared with 4.0.
So your task is to contribute an instruction how to get it working with an

Others have found that the problem is not restricted to Mathtype (A 2013-02-21

point.

Hi,
I am a student of FEE CTU. This semester we have a subject called Open Source
Programming. As a semestral work we have to choose some open-source project and
participate on it. So I would like to help fix this bug.
As soon as possible I am going to download source files of LibreOffice and
start working on them.
Can you better explain what is the problem?
In what source files is the macro located?

I did a quick test with installation of MathType, but that did not help.
I see that your sample document has been edited with LibO 4.0 (suffers from Bug
61040), so that it is not suitable as a test document. Please contribute a
document as simple as possible (no background, only 1 single MathType object)
created and last edited with a LibO Version where it worked for you, with menu
'Tools - Options - Load/Save - General - ODF format version = 1.2 (strict!)
before you save the document.

So it might be possible to see it working with an old version, the other
instructions I asked can wait, until we have results with a new test document.

Thanks for the pointer, that indeed seems to be the cause.

Note: to reproduce the bug one has to either load the testcase file in a Thai
locale or explicitly select a format from the Thai locale in the number
formatter dialog, the formats applied in the file use the default locale, the
[~buddhist] calendar has no effect if loaded in for example an en-US locale.

Import to writer, and the field is replaced with a blank.

Would it be possible to insert character 177 from Tahoma ±

--- Comment #21 from Petr Mladek pmla...@suse.cz ---
I understand your pain. Please, try to understand the other side as well. If it
is hard to reproduce, it is also hard to fix. The LO source code is really huge
and the bug might be in many locations. Some complicated bugs takes days to fix
even when they are easily reproducible. This one is harder because there is no
scenario.

The bug has been reported 1.5 year ago. I understand that it is data loss and
more people are affected. But still there are only 4 people in CC and no
duplicate. I do not understand why it should suddenly start blocking bug fix
release with other useful fixes and improvements.

Please note that changing severity from blocker to critical is not that big
change. It only means that this bug will not block the release. It has the
highest priority, the second highest severity, so it is still on top of the
queries. It is listed in MABs, so heavily advertised. I have also nominated it
as Hard Hack, so it might get even more attention soon, see
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/HardHacks

Please continue in monitoring this problem when you work with LO and when you
read other bugs or mails. It is kind of detective work. You might meat a new
indicia that could help to create a scenario and help to fix it.

I guess that there is an operation that breaks a data structure in memory and
the information about the outline groups gets lost. It might help to remember
what operations you did when this bug happened and compare them with operations
that you do the other days and you do not see this bug.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 61620] New: TABLE: Formatting lost when editing numeric field

2013-02-28 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61620

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61620
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: TABLE: Formatting lost when editing numeric field
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: john.hendr...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.0.0.3 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

Writer keeps removing formatting in table cells after editing them and reverts
it to default (Text @). Writer will also set the language to Default UK, no
matter what the document language.

1) Create a new document.
2) Inserts a table.
3) Type a number in a format that is not your default locale, for example
77,55.
4) Change Number Format of this cell to Language Dutch (Netherlands) and the
format to 0,00.
5) Edit the cell and change the value to 77,5 by just deleting the last 5 and
then pressing Tab to exit the cell.
6) Check Number Format again and notice the format was lost.

Number recognition is globally off for Tables. Number recognition is off for
this specific table. After EVERY edit the Number Format is lost.

This bug has been present for years, but it finally irked me enough to report
it. Also see this post by a user with the same problem (especially the last
XML part): http://en.libreofficeforum.org/node/4503

The problem is partially mitigated by changing the default locale to Dutch
(where it is UK normally) but Writer STILL changes the Number Format to '@'.

Please resolve this.

Saving sample from 4.0.0.3 destroys document, no longer readable with 4.0.2.

Al these results make Joren's DUP-rating very plausible

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 61621
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: Trying to edit an OLE object without required software
causes useless ERRORMESSAGE
  Severity: enhancement
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: libreoff...@bielefeldundbuss.de
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 3.3.3 release
 Component: UI
   Product: LibreOffice

Steps how to reproduce with Server Installation of LibO 4.0.2.0+ -
English UI / German Locale [Build ID:
01f8d0a1dffce854a66c0f957e81e6df6d361a8)] {tinderbox: @6, pull time

user profile ….\LODev\4\

0. Uninstall MathType software if necessary
1. Open Attachment 75694 for Bug 61178
Shows a formula object
2. Double click one of the balls to edit it
Expected: Edit mode or useful error message Software not found or so
   Actual: Message General OLE error

Same with Attachment 75624 for Bug 61548, I do not know what kind of OLE object
it is.

LibO should show something useful like OLE object editor software not found
or similar.

Every other piece of software on my PC displays dates in the correct format.

Setting this as NEW, with a normal, high priority, since it might be
regression. I selected Normal since the document is fine after reopening, but I
can see how seeing the strange formatting and possibly trying to correct it
during the time the font manager is open could hinder a user's work.

Update: just installed 4.0.1.2
Many progresses in user data migration.

However some settings are still not migrated:
1) Java version is not selected (was manually selected in 3.6.5.2)
2) Online update checking was manually unselected in 3.6.5.2 and is selected
again in 4.0.1.2

Because pathnames where changed, all Shared extensions were lost and need to be
reinstalled. More on this in the QA mailing list.
