The patch on gerrit addresses the desktop shortcut problem but makes all other
use cases where symlinks are actually meant for fail. This is unacceptable.

Are there any means to distinguish a desktop shortcut from a normal symlink so
the document could be opened differently by following the link in that case?
That would solve all problems.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101381] KDE integration / Quickstart not working

2016-08-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101381

Note that I intentionally only use the original version of the Document
Foundation and not Ubuntus or Debians, which I completely uninstalled. And here
uninstalling libobasis5.2-kde-integration leads to a good look of the menus.
Simultaneously quickstart works again. The missing icons in /usr/share/icons
can be inserted most easily by installing the Ubuntu package
libreoffice-common. This can also be immediately uninstalled including its
dependencies, if care is taken that the installed icons of the package will not
be deleted. It is therefore an error in the packet
libobasis5.2-kde-integration, or in qickstart where maybe wrong paths to the
icons are present. In version 5.0 (also Document Foundation) it worked
perfectly without the "adjustments" described above. I call that a regression.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101450] New: PRINTING Wrong paper size (or fields), Blank page in Print dialog if used Print Preview

2016-08-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101450

Bug ID: 101450
Summary: PRINTING Wrong paper size (or fields), Blank page in
Print dialog if used Print Preview
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: sidewal...@bk.ru

Created attachment 126747
  --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=126747&action=edit
File recieved from Internet. Problem exists.

Problem:
All (or most part of) docs in Writer are printed with wrong paper size (or
wrong fields, I don't know actual reason).

Details:
- Print dialog is the first place where I see this issue (second and last -
printed paper in printer output).
- Problem is not with printer itself, because same issue I see when printint to
PDF (printers Adobe PDF or Microsoft Print to PDF) and even with "Save to PDF"
command.
- With "Save to PDF" command there even second issue - wrong indent from top
(wrong top field).
- In Print Preview all looks OK.
- Problem is not only with some DOCX file, it is even with new created just in
Writer files (even before saving and selecting file format).
- Problem not with all docs. Some docs (that I get from somewhere) can be OK
(but not all that I recieve from somebody are OK).
- Problem is only with Writer - no issues in Calc.

If I'm clicking "Print Preview" and only then "Print", there will be even BLANK
page in this dialog-preview and in printer then.

I'm using LibreOffice about two years on this PC. Problem appeared few month
ago.

It was in Windows 8.1 and same in Windows 10 (I updated Windows about week
ago). Windows locale is RU-ru. Version is x64 SL (Single Language).

This one bug is gone ('crash'), but the function as such is still not producing
the correct output. I'll file a bug for it separately.

Ans, yes, it sucks to have so many regressions - like this one. One or two

This is not a dup to 86359, though the title is similar.

I have 142 letters to be printed, mail merge works so far okay as far as I can
make it out. It shows the 142 as output sheets, and it runs from 1 to 142 at
producing those. But that single document is a mess: loading takes a few
minutes. And then the first page is okay, but is shown as "1 /283" in the lower
left corner status bar in PRINT PREVIEW - all further references are PRINT
PREVIEW, too.
284 would be 2 times 142, so you'd expect empty pages, but there are none. The
second page is really crappy and shows as "1 3/283". And so forth. Scrolling to
the end ("1 141/283") is actually Nr. 72 of the letters. Those above 73 don't
show up, using the scroll bar, only by clicking 'To Document End ' it works.

Using my simple sample files attached to 101259, a similar crazy page
numbering pops up, though there are only 3 letters to be concatenated. In PAGE
PREVIEW the page numbers likewise show "1 3/5"for the second page.

Hmm, actually this whole UI is broken by design: If the text in the dialog is
supposed to represent the selected text, and changing the content in the text
field should replace the text in the document, this cant work for e.g.
multi-paragraph selections. Consider e.g.:

1/ make a selection spanning multiple paragraphs (e.g. the end of one and the
beginning of the next)
2/ the dialog entry line is supposed to contain the selected text (which it
cant as it contains newlines
3/ pressing "apply" is supposed to set the replace text in the document
although the text entry has no good way of representing newlines and still to
change nothing at all, the content needs to contain newlines.

=> needsUXEval, likely the best would be to remove the "text" field and just
use the selected text from the document, instead of duplicating this in the
dialog.

A draw document as example

When exporting as PDF from Draw some objects that cover only a portion of the
page, even if the option "Range->selection" is chosen, the whole page is
instead exported.

This does not happen with other export filters, e.g. exporting as png, where if
the "selection" is checked, effectively only the selected objects are exported,
with the size of the image to dynamically being created to just fit the
exported objects.

Another Point:

Sidebar dimensions should be equal to dimensions in Dialog "Size and Position"
-
actual it is not (see attached screenshot)

Imported from csv test file - NOTE: first two lines of csv missing

@Alex,
Thanks for looking into it.

Here is what I did:
1. Start LO
2. File > Open Document
3. Import Dialogue: hit OK

I also get the same error if I double click the file and open it with the
default application (LibreOffice).
I also get the same bug if I drag and drop CSV file provided in bug report onto
LO Dock icon

Changing the language from en_GB to FR (France) and character encoding from
UTF-8 to ISO8859-15(Euro) results in the same bug to me.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101387] Serious graphic bugs

Hi,

I installed the regular version of the 5.2.0.4 build (non-snap) parallel,
according to your link. But then I had the exact same issues as with the
5.1.4.2 version, i.e. artifacts, and when "Use OpenGL for all rendering" is
checked, the whole system can crash. I also would like to point out that I
couldn't switch virtual terminal (like ctrl+alt+F7). It seems the issue has
nothing to to with the snap version.

"SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk soffice" with "gtk" or "gtk3" did not make any
difference, but with "gen", both bugs are gone! Another interesting thing is
that I also tested with "kde" (instead of gtk), and then the artifact bug is
gone but not the crashing bug. I don't know, but perhaps the bugs are two
separate ones.

I also think it's important that someone else with a graphics card from the
same series (7700 or at least 7000) with the open source driver, can test this.

2016-08-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon

The good news is, for LibreOffice 5.2 this is gone with the gtk3 backend.
The bad news is, it persists when using the gtk2 backend, i.e. for a gtk3
enabled build invoked with SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=gtk (note gtk instead of gtk2).
On the other hand that might provide a a hint to look at the gtk2 specific code
and see if there's something obviously different from the gtk3 code.

Looks like there's been no repro/no update on testing with modern builds in the
last 4 months, and Jan-Marek believes his patch should fix this, so I'm going
to tentatively resolve as WORKSFORME.

The only possibility is to start the form in zoomed to more than 100%.

I haven't permission to set the importance of a bug higher than "normal". But
the tablecontrol-bugs since the beginning of LO 5.* had decided many Base-users
to go back to LO 4.4.7.2.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101457] New: Problem copy paste cells between two tables of two documents

2016-08-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101457

Bug ID: 101457
Summary: Problem copy paste cells between two tables of two
documents
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86 (IA32)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: frede...@juliana-multimedia.com

Hi,

Since version 5 (I think) of Writer, the behavior of the copy cells between two
tables has changed.

The context: two Writer documents with the same tables, one with text and one
without text.

Operation: Select and copy several cells in a table of the first document and
paste them in the same table the second document.

Before version 5, the contents were copied identically between the tables of
both documents.

Since version 5, the cells selected in the first table are inserted into each
cell of the second table.

There is no problem if both tables are in the same document.

Best regards.

Hi Vojtěch, thanks for raising this issue again! Unfortunately shortcuts got
messy in the new dialog and this should be solved in both English original and
Czech localization.

For the original, I sent a patch to Gerrit:
https://gerrit.libreoffice.org/#/c/28060/

Later, I will also take care of the Czech localization.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 42742] FILEOPEN: Documents with linked images take a long time to load

Tested with daily master on Windows 10 64bit:

Version: 5.3.0.0.alpha0+ (x64)
Build ID: 8b9d5798f157d18652adcc94bdf89f00b2a3b20c
CPU Threads: 4; OS Version: Windows 6.19; UI Render: GL;
TinderBox: Win-x86_64@62-TDF, Branch:MASTER, Time: 2016-08-11_10:39:12
Locale: it-IT (it_IT); Calc: CL

Took around 40 sec to load the images the first time (up to the macro security
alert message).
Closed the document, reopened, it took less: around 10 sec.

I added code to cache the type of server the URL resource lives on, that is
after the first access, for a limited amount of time, the access is similar to
what a browser would do.

A URL resource data cache is not yet implemented.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101458] New: export PDF makes the size of the PDF twice bigger because images PNG are not compressed

2016-08-11 Thread bugzilla-daemon

Bug ID: 101458
Summary: export PDF makes the size of the PDF twice bigger

OS: All

 Component: Printing and PDF export
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: mister.free...@laposte.net

I use libreoffice 5.1.5.2 under archlinux 64 bits,

I notice a bug for the function "export PDF" in writer, the size of the
generated PDF is twice bigger than usual, it's seems that the PNG images are
not compressed even if the user has set the option "JPEG compression" with a
ratio in % in the dialog box for PDF export,

it's probably a bug in the source code related to the feature "export PDF" in
libreoffice, when a document contains images it seems that the feature "export
PDF" forgets to compress the image, the generated PDF is then too big in size

I have found a workaround: Save the document in question created with former
versions of LO (5.1.4, in my case) with LO 5.2.

The problem disappears and scrolling returns to normal once the document is
saved ("save as" command) from within LO 5.2.

What remains odd is that the sluggish scrolling keeps appearing when opening
with embedded tables created with former LO versions-

This is tricky issue, it has been reported in bug 100819 already, but no one
has managed to reproduce it so far. Since there are no details in this bug
report, I'm afraid it does not help the investigation move forward.
Nevertheless, if you can add any piece of useful details, you're welcome to do
it in the other bug report.
