[Bug 160231] Images in Calc get lost (steps in comment 18)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160231 --- Comment #22 from Telesto --- @MB To be clear. Something is really really broken regarding to anchored images (and especially with hidden rows). There are now multiple show cases: bug 147420 bug 152635 bug 160369. It surely broken since 6.1 and it didn't work properly before 6.1. The experiences are varying from case to case. A developer needs to start working and the issues to untangle the mess. It will show if all issues being unique by itself needing a fix individually or if a shared root cause exists. It can't be assessed in advance. Time will tell QA members are inclined to keep the bugtracker tidy and clear. So bugs are marked as duplicate looking at the shared property (and less on uniqueness). The duplicates are (ideally) re-checked after the fixes landed. So the idea is not to hide the issue under the carpet --- FWIW: Your are right regarding to the aspect of grouped images. It also a factor involved. Grouped images act a bit different compared to normal images. The images don't appear to be lost, IMHO. The can be seen in the the navigator. The are moved to wrong cell hidden behind different image and being shrunk to tiny dimensions. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 160231] Images in Calc get lost (steps in comment 18)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160231 --- Comment #20 from MB --- @stephane.guillou Unfortunately I completely disagree with you and I was really upset sawing that you marked this bug as duplicate. Let me explain. First of all did you notice that with my methodology many images (which are in fact groups) get lost and the problem is not only "image" at row 106? Secondly, In my everyday usage of the file I never resize or move images, they are all in the middle of their cells anchored there and I never touch them. But after some edits and saves this happens again. People asked me to create a methodology to replicate the issue for them to see it and I searched for it showing a methodology but this doesn't mean this is the real problem. It's just a way to see with your own eyes the proof that there is an issue. My bug report here so refers to the random lost of "images" (which proved to be image groups) when editing the file, not when resizing the images. If you mark this as duplicate the issue here is closed and all the info that comes with it. I spent too much time on this to accept your last comment as the same as my issue. What you describe is another issue. If you find the reason why the group of images are lost without any resize of them just by editing the document, I may accept that it is related... -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

For these steps at least, the underlying issue is that the cell anchor changes on save. I could reproduce as described, but trying to find a smaller set of steps, I found: 1. Open attachment 193145 2. Go to row 106 3. Save Result: group is now anchored to cell C107, even though its top-left corner is still in cell C106. Clicking the group does not seem to work, one has to click below, as if it was moved down. A reload of the file brings it back to cell C106. However, a _second_ save will make the object stay at cell C107 - so I think that's the essence of it, regardless of the extra intermediate steps you listed: saving twice makes the wrong anchor stick, with the obvious consequences when further manipulating the file. Note that resizing an object can move its anchor to a different cell, but it usually happens transparently and instantaneously (anchor is where top left corner is; happens as soon as resizing is finished. In this case, no resizing is needed. I've reported this 7.1 regression in the new bug 160369, for clarity. [Bug 35694] "Page number" automatic field stops counting before last page if offset >0 (see comment 22)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35694 --- Comment #77 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Eyal Rozenberg from comment #76) Page number mechanism in Writer is connected to e.g. ToC, and its numbers. Any "A user who chooses to [Insert | Page Number] does not want to insert the number of another page", which implies use of offset to modify (even for display) the number of *current* page, tries to introduce inconsistency. And of course, this leads to greater confusion. I strongly believe, that there must *not* be any mechanics that allow *that* outside of the normal page break mechanism. OTOH, any improvements in the page breaks properties in that regards are welcome. The current page field may be changed e.g. like this: remove the offset from the field completely; and introduce another field kind, "page reference", which would have the offset. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 152336] Improve CSV field separator detection/behavior when several separators are selected on import
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152336 --- Comment #10 from Mike Kaganski --- (In reply to Eyal Rozenberg from comment #9) > I would assume that if I save a file in a certain format, the specifics > would be independent of the input filtering, and only respect the format's > spec (and whatever defaults I have chosen the app to abide by if the spec is > flexible). Thus I would expect a TSV to be saved with tabs and a CSV with > commas even if, say, the input was parsed so as to separate fields by spaces. This may be a preference of some; but I claim, that at least for CSV, this would be a minority's preference; and the majority-to-minority ratio here will be HUGE. Most people who use Calc to edit CSVs will need Calc to retain the original file's structure; especially taking into account, that all "specs" in CSV are application-specific (and there is a *informational memo* RFC, reflecting some suggestions, but not binding). "Application-specific" here relates to the workflow (generation/consuming applications), not to the editing application in the middle. And a workflow of "normalization" of heterogenously-generated CSVs will be a minority of use cases. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160363 --- Comment #2 from teob6...@yahoo.com --- Had to reinstall 24.2. This time I did NOT remove the older version via MSFT Programs removal. I installed it with with older version remaining on his system, but to a different folder. This install told me twice a restart is required and it did it for me. So, I did a CUSTOM install so I could change folders and keep 5.2.9 in old folder. This install fixed the error, whereas the previous 24.2 install where I removed older LibreOffice first did NOT fix the problem. Difference? The RESTART I believe. This install specifically told me a RESTART was needed and forced me to do it. The previous try did NOT ask me to restart. Anyway, all is good and no SAFE mode testing is required. Based on the trace, this seems similar to https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=130435#c3 As with the mentioned bug, originally the spreadsheet was quite complex and with sensitive information, but I deleted all the sheets contents (could not delete the sheets as it would trigger the bug), and changed their names. Does not seem to matter which sheet I delete (tried 3-4). Bug also happens if I change the value in cell F8 in sheet "PROBLEM" (but might be because of autosave) The sheet in question was created by duplicating another sheet in the same file, and doing some edits (deleting couple of columns and rows and changing a couple of formulas) but nothing too fancy. I am using Arch Linux. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 160329] Image anchored to cell ends up in wrong cell after using autofilter sort, depending on hidden rows

[Bug 160363] New: Context Menus take over 1.5 minutes to display
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=160363 Bug ID: 160363 Summary: Context Menus take over 1.5 minutes to display Product: LibreOffice Version: 24.2.1.2 release Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64) OS: Windows (All) Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: medium Component: Writer Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org Reporter: teob6...@yahoo.com Description: LibreOffice WRITER only...version 24.2 With Writer open, selecting any item from upper tool bar (FILE EDIT VIEW ... HELP) should open the context menu for that entry. Libre Office WRITER only does NOT open the context menu until over 1.5 minutes later for any of the items in the tool bar. This happens, I repeat, only for WRITER in version 24.2. I am not a LibreOffice user myself, but rebuilt a new PC system for a visually impaired person who is a LIbreOffice person. I had to download the latest version in install it, which was 24.2, on 2/29/24. Today, my friend called about a different problem, but it was clearly related to using LibreOffice, so I checked it out. The WRITER had this issue, which caused him a lot of headaches since he can't see anything lower than 400% magnified and couldn't tell what was going on. I first did a REPAIR installation function, but it did not alter it to correct anything and then a removal and reinstall of 24.2 which also did not resolve the issue. So, I went to a back level 7.5.9 version and it resolved the issue! Restating, look only at version 24.2 WRITER. A side note is that when I did build his new system I put the Right-Click Windows 10 hack in to replace the Windows 11 context menu. I can't understand why Microsoft tried to simplify, but in his case, complicate things by putting what he needs in a second context menu off the 1st one! But, maybe this hack is involved in the version 24.2 not working properly. Good luck. Steps to Reproduce: 1.Do NOT set up LibreOffice to load at system start up 2.Once system running, open Writer 3.Go to one of the too bar entries, like FILE, VIEW, EDIT, or any of them 4. Ciick on it and you will wait a long time seeing No Reponse 5. Once a menu appears, after 1.5 minutes for us, menus will now open correctly for all entries on tool bar Actual Results: No Response Expected Results: immediate opening of context menu Reproducible: Always User Profile Reset: No Additional Info: Everything reported above. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 35694] "Page number" automatic field stops counting before last page if offset >0 (see comment 22)
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35694 --- Comment #76 from Eyal Rozenberg --- (In reply to Mike Kaganski from comment #70) > Generally, "ApplyOffset(GetNumberOf(CurrentPage()), N )" implies a numeric > "page number", which is not a requirement. It isn't? Page numbers are numbers, and numbers are numeric, aren't they? If you're referring to the styling of the number, i.e. A B C or i ii iii vs 1 2 3, that's just formatting; the offset applies to the number itself, not its formatted form. > Any such arithmetics will not give you > a *number*, but a "page number" - thus, the only sensible thing is > "GetNumberOf(ApplyOffset(CurrentPage(), N))". I have argued above that it is not a sensible thing. A user who chooses to [Insert | Page Number] does not want to insert the number of another page. For doing that, they would [Insert | Cross Reference]. (By the way, if a user does [Insert | Field], the dialog clearly separates "Cross Reference" from where we get the page number. But then, within the "Document" tab, in the "Select" column, we have "Page Number", "Previous Page", "Next Page". This suggests that we do get cross-ref-type fields on this pane; but it also suggests that the way to refer to another page is through the "Select" box, not through the Offset field, and that "Page Number" itself will only be the current page's number, not the number of any other page) > And we are back to the wording. It should be fixed. If you want to fix the UI so that Page Numbers are not necessarily numbers, you have to rework: 1. Some items on the Insert menu 2. The [Insert | Field] dialog <- which makes that assumption in multiple ways, including by have a number sequence choice box 3. The Insert Page Numbers dialog ... and I wonder whether replacing Page Numbers with something else will be a positive development for our users. Although I still don't know what you intend to replace "Page Number" with, so maybe it won't be that bad? :-\ > Now we have a *different* field, namely, Insert Formula field, We do? I can't find it on the Insert menu, nor in the Insert Field dialog. Anyway, this could certainly be a basis for getting the "ApplyOffset(GetNumberOf(CurrentPage()), N )" effect. If we take that direction, then I believe the UI for [Insert | Page Number] would have to be rebased on this formula mechanism to begin with. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

[Bug 131253] Frames are displayed around images even though Object boundaries is unchecked, as Text boundaries control it
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=131253 Justin L changed: What|Removed |Added CC||jl...@mail.com --- Comment #5 from Justin L --- Created attachment 193300 --> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/attachment.cgi?id=193300&action=edit 131253_through.docx: wrap none/through images shouldn't display a text boundary line (In reply to Heiko Tietze from comment #3) > Whether object or not, the text ends here. And the point is, View > Text > Boundary disables the thin grey lines => NAB. The text does not "end here" if the frame is wrap through (or wrap none). Note that the page's text boundaries are also not (fully) boxed in (when "show formatting marks" is turned off), just a few angle brackets are shown. It is EXTREMELY disconcerting to the user to have a border around their image, and even more so since it does not work consistently (bug 134869). [Bug 152336] Improve CSV field separator detection/behavior when several separators are selected on import
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=152336 --- Comment #9 from Eyal Rozenberg --- I would assume that if I save a file in a certain format, the specifics would be independent of the input filtering, and only respect the format's spec (and whatever defaults I have chosen the app to abide by if the spec is flexible). Thus I would expect a TSV to be saved with tabs and a CSV with commas even if, say, the input was parsed so as to separate fields by spaces. Now, I do remember there's a dialog before saving happens; but at that dialog, I would still expect LO to default to how the format is defined, e.g. commas for CSV, and ignore what the input had. Also, I'm not sure I see how "Detect separator for CSV files" is a dupe of this bug. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.

Feedback and suggestions from users are conveniently given in localized ask.libreoffice.org [1] and other language appropriate user channels. The dev community and broader user community is quite diligent in moving forward development/enhancement issues. In other words you do not have to use BZ to contribute--and your contributions are welcome. But BZ issue tracking (and LibreOffice development) is coordinated in technical English. It would be counterproductive to run parallel BZ instances. =-ref-= [1] For German speaking users see https://ask.libreoffice.org/c/german/6 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.
