[Libreoffice-qa] [ANN] LibreOffice 4.1.2 RC3 test builds available

2013-09-30 Thread Christian Lohmaier
Hi *,

for the upcoming new version 4.1.2, the RC3 most of the builds are now
available on pre-releases (Windows build still uploading, Mac still missing)
This is an unscheduled RC, due to regressions found by QA (thanks to
all testers)
Grab the builds from here here:

 http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/

If you've a bit of time, please give them a try & report *critical*
bugs not yet in bugzilla here, so we can incorporate them into the
release notes. Please note that it takes approximately 24 hours to
populate the mirrors, so that's about the time we have to collect
feedback.

NOTE: This build is in a release configuration and _will_ replace your
existing LibreOffice install on Windows.

The list of fixed bugs relative to 4.1.2RC2 is here:

http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/pre-releases/src/bugs-libreoffice-4-1-2-release-4.1.2.3.log

So playing with the areas touched there also greatly appreciated -
and validation that those bugs are really fixed.

Thanks a lot for your help,
Christian

@Pedro,

I could not confirm issue. Have marked it Resolved WFM.

Please revisit your test case, and provide better details on producing the
data loss if you feel the issue is valid.

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] [ANN] LibreOffice 4.1.2 RC3 test builds available

2013-10-02 Thread Pedro
I have replied in Bugzilla.

It is not only Find and Replace that it is ruined in 4.1.2.3 and 4.0.6.1

The simple Find function is also ruined. Searching for the word "Santos" in
an extensive report also tagged the word "Matos"...

This is a MAJOR bug. Please don't dismiss it as a personal whim.

Even if this is a Windows XP bug only it is still a MAJOR lost in function.

And it is a REGRESSION for BOTH branches.

2013-10-02 Thread V Stuart Foote
@Pedro,

The Find & Replace --> Replace All of your fdo#70029
   appears to be working
correctly for both Windows XP and Windows 7.

Not dismissing your issues as personal whim, just not seeing the behavior.
So again, you need to provide additional test case and samples for anyone
else to be able to reproduce.

If it makes you more comfortable we can change fdo#70029 to NEEDINFO

The +F find box also seems to be working correctly for simple search,
both XP and Windows 7. You may need to post up your "extensive report" as a
sample document. But probably should be an issue of its own.

Regards,

Stuart

I already figured the problem was that the "Similarity" option was checked

This shows that having advanced options hidden doesn't seem to be a good
idea from a UX point of vue...

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] [ANN] LibreOffice 4.1.2 RC3 test builds available

2013-10-05 Thread Pedro
Web Page Wizard doesn't work under Windows XP using version 4.1.2.3 both
installed and portable.

It does work on LO 4.0.5 so it seems to be a regression.

It doesn't work on LO 4.2.0 Alpha (dated 2031-10-04 from TB 39) so the bug
seems to be in the Master branch as well.

Can anyone provide more feedback before I submit this to Bugzilla?

Thanks,
Pedro

what do you mean with "doesn't work"? It does not start, you cannot

Excellent. So this seems to be a Windows only bug.

Unfortunately TDF's position is "there is no "official" guarantee that daily
builds for some specific platform and configuration will continuously be
built and uploaded"

Which is a curious position, since some TDF members ask the QA team members
to do early testing on the Master branch... Maybe the QA team members
compile their own binaries...

Not at all, since the builds themselves are provided by volunteers. Of course,
you are invited to maintain a tinderbox providing daily builds in a more
reliable fashion (or help out with one of the existing ones). Actually that
would be most welcome!

As you know, I'm not a developer. Getting a tinderbox to work in a "more
reliable fashion" requires developer knowledge. I think it would make more
sense to invite one the project's developers (I'm sure that out of the
hundreds of LO developers there must be some who are not swamped with work
and would gladly take this task...)

No, getting a tinderbox to build does not require any voodoo skills -- and
skills can be learned and sharpened.

If you think we always have some developers lazily hanging out in a corner
watching TV and wondering what to do next, you are very badly mistaken.
Everyone has more than enough on his todo-list.

That said, this is important, but we still need ressources or volunteers for it
(and everyone having to do all the after conference catch up isnt helping).

FWIW, there are now current builds by Win-x86_9-Voreppe on

and a reasonably recent bibisect at

and my machine is also currently building a additional bibisect, just to be

The discussion referred to Master builds. Not only for Windows but according
to Thomas also for Debian.
I know that human resources are scarce and valuable (it just find it amusing
when PR starts bragging about the "hundreds" of devs) but if testing ahead
is important then TDF needs to make sure that the tinderboxes (at least
those owned by TDF) keep sharing valid binaries ;)

and bibisect is daily master and works on debian.

As for the tone of your mail: Of course, this project has hundreds of

oh, I know, that there is a wiki page about Bibisect, but Pedro was
talking about missing daily builds for Win as well as Debian ... ;)
Does it mean, that I should use the Bibisect instruction to get my
daily build ;?

I am still not sure, why you mentioned
http://dev-builds.libreoffice.org/daily/master/Win-x86@39/ in your last mail
... :(

Read you
Thomas.
