Yes, the in-test-case version selection will list all existed versions, if the
current case does not belong to a version, click the version number will
create a new case version instance AND switching to it :)

Yup. this makes sense.

Ah, the advanced filtering is powerful and nice. Though, I am afraid
that it is a bit confusing. You select the version in advanced filtering
in one dialog (list of test cases) and by drop-down box in the other
(edit test case).

A solution would be to remove the version selection from the advanced
filtering and add the version selection drop-down list instead.
IMHO, this might be more clear and more intuitive.

Well, we might try the current state and improve it if needed.

> It is noticeable for those cases particularly created for a version

If we show "0" by default, all test cases should be primary developed in
this version. It is similar with the source development where everything
is done primary in "master" branch. A test case for the version "0" is
like a test case for "master". We could create(branch) the test cases
fot 3.7 release when we branch sources for 3.7.

Another possibility would be to ignore the version "0" and branch "3.7"
from "3.6" test cases. The question is when to do it. Also this might
cause confusion because it is different from the source development
model.

In each case, people need to be careful what version of test cases they
edit.

BTW: Is it possible to easily copy test case from one version to the
other using the UI? Or is there some alternative of "git cherry-pick"
where you could apply changes to other branches?

Anyway, I think that it looks reasonable now. Though, we need to hear
feedback from the QA community. Non-developers might have different
point of view. They are not that familiar git branches, ...

Done, the page now only show version 0 cases:

  http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/manage/cases/

The following is some explanations:

I did some investigation today and found each case/version pair stores as a
single data record in database, so navigating between versions depend on the
URL containing a specific case/version id. For example, the following refers
to the same case with different version:

  http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/manage/caseversion/298/
  http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/manage/caseversion/330/

By default the case management page filtering out only the *latest* version of
a case and gives a specific editing url for each.

I have thought to make a *seemless* transition to show the *latest* version
but given a *0* version edit link, but felt it might bring some confusing. So
I changed the filter to always show "Version 0" instead of the *latest*
version as a solution.

Meanwhile switching among versions is still available by 2 ways:

  1. click the Advance Filtering button and click "Libreoffice x.x" in product
  version criteria field.

  2. click the pencil icon to edit a single case and switch the version
  inside.

It is noticeable for those cases particularly created for a version X.Y while
not existed in Version 0, only the way 1 is available. But I doubt it will be
a usual case :)

How do you think about that? Is this solution accepatble?

Best wishes,
Yifan

Sounds perfectly fine for me. Another solution would be to export the
"0" test cases and import them for "3.6" via the script. Well, your
solutions looks easier :-)

Yes, I meant the "Test Manager" role mentioned in:

It will not be that easy to make a generic code change, since this will
probably change
internal gears of Moztrap. So one thing we could do is to:

1. update the version 0 test cases
2. remove the existed version 3.6 and recreate the version 3.6 so that it
could copy updated test cases from version 0

It could be done just by a few more clicks, very simple :)

Re: [Libreoffice-qa] Regression test (Moztrap) test case localization temporary solution.

2012-09-06 Thread Yi Fan Jiang
Hi Sophie and all,

Sorry I did not mention that to translate a case, we need to update the
version *0* of each test case so that we could reuse the translated case in
future test case versions which usually will be copied from the version *0*. I
will update the wiki page to notify that later.

Before the wiki page updated, here is an example how to do it:

1. Get the test manager authentication from community

2. Find a test case via Manage->Cases, for example:

http://vm12.documentfoundation.org/manage/case/63/

3. Click the pencil icon which located as the first icon in the ''Name[Tags]''
column.

4. In the page, make sure the version of the case is switched to *0* by:

- Around the top right corner of the page, hover the mouse on the version
"selection list box" right below the "Select environment"

- Click the version initiated with 0, in this case, it should be
"0 creating a table in database and increment records"

5. Add the translated case in the appropriate "instruction" and "expected"
rows, following the format already given like:

>> instruction
In Some Language
=
* instruction 1
* instruction 2
* instruction 3
>> expected
In Some Language
=
1. expected ...
2. expected ...
3. expected ...

6. Click "save test case" button to save the translation work.

Please noted the saved content will not apply to existed other versions until
a new version which copies the test cases from version 0 is created.

Best wishes,
Yifan

It will be on week 41, but it's more because I need deadlines than a

languages, I'll ask on the list for motivated teams and will tell you.

As for the l10n related hacking, they need large scope of changes in both
frontend and backend. I would plan at least 1 dev month to do all the stuff
including: Moztrap UI l10n implementing, test case l10n hacking and the
relevant tests before they are good enough to be online.

Sophie, thanks a lot for getting the feedback.

When I think about it, also the 2nd approach can be parsed by a script.
It is more complicated, probably more error prone but possible. Thus it
can be moved into to really localized framework almost automatically as
well.

So, the second approach is probably the best temporary solution.

Thanks for your investigation :) For information, I will try to organize
a testing session on Moztrap for the 3.6.3 version with the FR project.

Also do you have an idea of the time needed (day per man dev) and the
cost to make Moztrap fully localized (UI + content) ?

How does it look like when failing to login with Chrome?

There is an issue related with "CSRF veirication" need to follow in current
our Moztrap instance. It happens in both Chrome and Firefox randomly, though
*refreshing* times of the page will get through the annoying message. Please
see:

https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Moztrap/Moztrap_User_Guide#Registration_and_Login

Did you meet the similar problem or something else?

This was exactly the problem, and even refreshing didn't work on Chrome,
I was able to register, but that's all. Firefox was ok, showing the
error once, but after it was ok.

BTW. I have added you in the test manager group so that you can play with
more features :)

Thanks a lot. I've have a computer crash that prevent me for doing
anything else than trying to recover everything, but now it's ok and I
will have time to go further during tomorrow and over the week-end.
Again thanks a lot for working on this and sorry for the delay bring to
all this from my side.

Agreed that the last solution is really confusing. I think that the
second would be the easier one or the most comfortable for language
teams (I've noticed though that it's not the best solution for the test
migration in the future). However, not to be alone to give my opinion,

BTW: I would use "STEP" instead if "STEPS" in the first variant. The
meaning is:

   1st step
 >> expected result
   2nd step
 >> expected result
   3rd step
 >> expected result
   ...

Thanks a lot for working on this.
