This may be strange thread to start, but what do people use their Librettos for and what type of software do you run, is there such a thing as must have software, or must have configurations on the Libretto. I myself have recently purchased a second-hand Lib 110 CT. This is a very interesting little question Faisal I use my Librettos, they are two 50ct one was bought new and the other second hand on the Net. I have some question about one or two things which i would like help with but i will ask these later. I use my little Librettos in a way that many of you reading this group will never, do I hope. I use the Libretto to communicate with people when I do workshops. I am a deafblind person totally blind and deaf, And have a braille Display on my Libretto so that i am able to use it, the braille Display is added on to the Printer port. and with software that runs the Braille display i am quite able to use the Libretto just like all of you. just maybe a little slower but that all. The Libretto is a great little computer for communication with others, it small enough to take with one anywhere and with my Braille Lite Display it just a little moment to have them up and running. One person can type on to the Libretto keyboard and i can read what they are trying to say to me on my Braille display. when they have ended there thoughts I can reply and they can read this on the Libretto screen. So like many of you i really think that the little Toshiba libretto is a great little computer in every way. One day i will pick up a 110ct second hand but at moment i very happy with the ones that I have. I did try and buy a 110ct but the person was asking to much for it. Well I have said my little bit and it time for me to go again in to the background of the group again. I have learned a good little bit of information on this group, Yes much much of it goes right over my little head but it worth reading. Hope that i did not bore too many of you with e-mail. all the very best to you Yours James --- James Gallagher A-Z to Deafblindness http://www.deafblind.com A Deafblindness Web Resource http://www.deafblind.co.uk ** http://libretto.basiclink.com - Libretto mailing list http://libretto.basiclink.com/archive - Archives http://www.picante.com/~gtaylor/portable/faq.html - FAQ ---UNSUBSCRIBE--- mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=cmd:unsubscribe UNSUBSCRIBE DIGEST-- Use above but add DIGEST to the subject line... **

I have been using a program called Precision Mapping... works OK but doesn't have any features for flying. We got the G3 for our motorhome before we got the a/c.. I mostly fly low and slow now and just wander around that's why a program or unit that will alert me to airspace is necessary. I am always sightseeing and don't pay much attention to maps, etc. With an alarm I'd feel safer, etc. and probably be much less of a hazard to others! I've heard the Street Atlas is a good program and will probably try it this summer. We have MS Streets but I can't get it to work well with the gps.. probably just me. Thanks though. Linux, DOS, BSD, Win95/98/NT/2K, etc. -- They've got it hooked up to fish tanks (my old L50/J is now a controller for one), GPS systems for bike rides, attached to video cameras and cell phones for running races (Toshiba Sweden did this so you can see live updates from the poor runner carrying it with him), working as servers and routers, etc. Pretty much the do it all mini-notebook. (My favorite use was running the Sega Genesis emulator on it and having Sonic the Hedgehog going as a portable game machine. www.emux.com for more game emulators and roms) -- Not so much must-have software, rather must-have hardware. Naturally, 64MB of RAM (because those RAM modules are getting hard to find), a spare battery for hours of mobile use, a modem card (naturally, because they dont' build one into the L100/L110), a CaseLogic CD Player carry case (fits the L just fine, has more pockets to let you carry the other items like AC adapter), and 2.5mm to 3.5mm stereo converter jacks for the audio/mic ports in the back (see Radio Shack for these). d =) = adorable toshiba libretto The latest news and information for the Toshiba Libretto owner. http://www.silverace.com/libretto/ __ Do You Yahoo!? Which programs do you use and do you use a moving map with a GPS? I'd like to find a computer program that would work well with a moving map, etc. The shortcomings I find are the programs do not have a feature like the Garmin 295 that will alert you of airspace ahead, etc.Since I usually fly low it's VERY useful to have a warning before you inadvertently run through a small airport airspace, etc. -Original Message- Subject: RE: Must have software Well, I'll bite. I bought my Lib60 almost 4 years ago to use with my flight navigation software. Flight and ground navigation now make up only about half of my Lib's duty hours now. I quickly found that the limitation of the small keyboard was more than balanced by the compact size of this real PC. The Lib goes with me to meetings to take notes or make quick inquiries on the internet or company intranet. With its large (6.4GB) hard drive, I also use my Lib to burn CDs when I am on the road. My 14-hour external battery allows me to play Video CDs on trains and commercial flights and in hotel rooms. The iR port allows me to interface with my Canon BJC-50 battery powered printer/scanner, my Casio Freedio hand scanner, my PalmVx and my Motorola GSM cell phone. I find that none of these devices suffers from the slow iR interface. Around the home or office, the Lib connects into the LAN via wireless LAN. On the road, my Xircom combo card gives me Ethernet and Modem in one slot. I have a good friend who is a locksmith. He liked my Lib so much that he bought one to keep his key code software on hand. This allowed him to remove about 6 linear feet of 3-ring binders from his service van. I guess the key is in how you look at the Libretto. If you compare it to a full size (and weight) laptop, you'll only see the shortcomings. If you compare it to a wince device or Palm device, you'll appreciate how useful it is to have a real PC in such a small package. That's just my two pence.
