[LincolnTalk] SK: Seeking babysitter to cover 2 date nights a week

2021-11-14 Thread Joanna Owen Schmergel via Lincoln
Hi Folks,
We are seeking a babysitter, 16 years or older,  to come to our home in Lincoln
and watch our 2 kids Monday and Wednesday evenings, 530 pm to 930 pm, for the
next 4 weeks.
Our kids are an 8 year old girl and a 9 year old boy. They are very sweet,
energetic, and inquisitive.
Pay is $23/hour.
You will need your own transportation to and from our home.
You will need to feed them dinner, help them with any unfinished homework, read
to them, play with them, and put them to bed by 9 pm (no judgement!).
Please call me if you are interested at 617-645-9059.
Please be ok with one huge, friendly dog.
Thanks.
Warmly,
Joanna Schmergel

It depends. Some will charge hourly. Some by the job. Extra work = extra
money.

Just remember, this is hard work and pay accordingly.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Seeking Housecleaner

2021-11-14 Thread Annamaria San Antonio
I can confidently recommend Aura Cabrera 617-407-3141 and her team of two other
women. I picked up her name from someone else on this list who recommended her
and recently had a very good experience using her services. She speaks good
English and is also a very good person.
The three of them worked more than three hours and charged me $300.

I am chemically sensitive and she was more than happy to use my products
instead of her usual which for me was the clincher.

If you get in touch with her you can say that I recommended her. Her husband
Hugo also does handy person work although I have not used his services.

[LincolnTalk] Lincoln School Project: Making solid progress!

2021-11-14 Thread kim bodnar
*Update: Lincoln School Project*
*Honoring our History, Building Our Future*

What was once the barest form of a structure is rapidly becoming a solid
building!

Just a few weeks ago, the Primary School was stripped down to some columns,
concrete block walls, and part of a roof. Now there is new steel framing,
new windows, a fortified roof, and new exterior brick. Work is progressing
from south (near the parking lot) to north (toward the Dining Commons), and
just in the last week steel framing went up for the building that will
house the Administrative offices and classrooms:

[LincolnTalk] Kiwi Chimney Endorsement

2021-11-14 Thread ddowning09
Hi all,

Last week I had a stainless steel flue liner and new furnace exhaust pipe
installed in my north Lincoln home. This was done to improve the draft of
the furnace exhaust as recommended by Concord Oil.

Though I approached this process with a dose of skepticism due to past
experiences with shady chimney cleaning companies, Kiwi Chimney was a
pleasure to deal with, and I hereby endorse them to anyone needing chimney
cleaning or repairs.

Everyone I spoke with, from the service techs Amy and Andy, to the president
Brad, the installation crew Gabe, and the office people Katie and Meg, was
professional, credible, informative and friendly. The quotes I received
where thoroughly explained, less costly options were provided, and the whole
project was done expertly and reasonably. The completed work order even
came with photographs of the interior of the chimney and all components that
were installed!

Though not a cheap project, I feel satisfied that this has eliminated the
initial "low draft" concern, removed any risk of chimney fires or fume
penetration, and increased my home resale value when the time comes for
that.

Happy to talk with anyone facing similar chimney work, and heartily
recommend Kiwi out of Rutland (774-745-8004).

Re: [LincolnTalk] Window cleaners

2021-11-14 Thread Kristin Cannistraro via Lincoln
Monica at SqueeGees Window Cleaning, (978) 580-6657.

Referred by Lincoln Talk; they cleaned our windows a couple of weeks ago and
did a fantastic job. Reasonably priced, conscientious, friendly. Highly
recommended.

Not sure how busy they are now, but I called the beginning of October and they
were booking a month in advance.

Best,
Kristin

A real team effort. I was on the Wild and Scenic Committee representing the

put there.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Fwd: Why is Sherman’s Bridge Road’s bridge wooden?

2021-11-14 Thread Sara Mattes
To add to this story-what occurred during my tenure on the BOS.

When Lees Bridge was dismantled for repair, all the original stones were
salvaged, catalogued and stored in the area, to be used in reconstructing the
bridge to its former glory.
Delay after delay prevented an expeditious reconstruction.
By the time actual work commenced, the stored stones had disappeared.
Lots of finger pointing ensued.
It was rumored to be an inside job.
A new bridge went, not to the original look, as had been promised, and
certainly not with the original stones.

[LincolnTalk] Fwd: Why is Sherman’s Bridge Road’s bridge wooden?

2021-11-14 Thread Joan Kimball
Hi. It is historic on the Sudbury River, a designated Wild and Scenic
River. During the study to determine designation, it needed repair. A lot
of Wayland Advocates worked hard to have it repaired as it was, an historic
bridge. The designation for the river included historic qualities.

The same when the Lee Bridge on Route 117 needed repair, local advicates,
the 2 towns and Park Service worked hard to have it restored and not
replaced by a generic modern bridge.

For some period including the mid-1970s it was open to cars but school
buses couldn't use it, meaning we had to go all the way around via 117 and
