2023-06-02 Thread Nicholas Ribush
Dear All,

It's raining as I write (yay) but it doesn't look like it'll be much better
in the morning, so we have decided that the* Lincoln Traditional Jazz Band
* will not be opening
this year's Farmers Market tomorrow. The plan for the summer is for us to
play from ten till noon on the first and third Saturdays of the month, so
we shall see you Saturday, June 17.

Stay dry!

2023-06-02 Thread Ursula Nowak
Thanks to those who are starting to sign up! I received a good question:
What sizes do we prefer?
Small and regular sizes are better so that some people do not get the giant
ones, and some get the tiny ones. We have limited space and want to be able
to give the items to as many people as possible.
Thanks again!

Re: [LincolnTalk] Electric Lawnmower Maintenance

2023-06-02 Thread Stephen R. Low
(I usually charge my readers for valuable information like this, but I make
exceptions for Lincolnites.)

All electric lawn mowers are intended for use on electric lawns only. Hence the
name.

Chris, hopefully you installed your electric lawn with a switch and a timer.

Turning on the lawn only when you have company who you want to impress (which
most modest Lincolnites would only do once or twice/year) will inhibit lawn
growth to a trickle.

At that rate, your electric lawn mower should last a lifetime and no
maintenance will ever be necessary. With limited use of that switch/timer, you
could either sell the mower as new(!) to a new owner years from now, or
possibly return it for a refund if you bought it at Costco.

Steve Low

Re: [LincolnTalk] Electric Lawnmower Maintenance

2023-06-02 Thread Peter Speert
A nice feature of the electric mower is that it has no engine or carburetor and
therefore no need for spark plugs, fuel, or fuel stabilizer.

Mine is an EGO, and I used it yesterday, for the first time. Let me know if I
can be of any help.

Re: [LincolnTalk] Electric Lawnmower Maintenance

2023-06-02 Thread John Robinson
Hi, Christopher!

One of the best parts about electric engines is how little maintenance they
need. There's no oil, no spark plugs or carb, and very little to adjust.
It's possible this might vary a little between brands (I have an Ego,
myself), but all I do is periodically check how tight and sharp my blades
are, and (aspirationally, at least) clean the blades and anywhere grass
builds before storing at the end of the summer.

The mower's website will probably have a few tips, and links to replacement
parts. And YouTube is often a good resource for instructions on replacing
parts, if you need to.

[LincolnTalk] urgent food drive

We have just enjoyed our beautiful Spring Concert, but there is no time to
rest as the need in our community is ongoing. The Food Pantry will be open
next Wednesday and Thursday, June 7 and 8 and we need your help to restock
our shelves!

Now, at the beginning of the summer, the most needed items are:

*ketchup, olive oil, salad dressings, mayonnaise, relish, cereal, pasta
sauce and crackers.*

No need to sign up, but we have put together a Sign Up Genius so we can
make sure we get a good number of each of the items needed. If you like,
you can access the *Sign Up Genius* *HERE
.*

Food donations can be dropped off at any time on the back porch of the
white house behind St. Joseph Church, 142 Lincoln Rd. Enter the driveway to
the left of the church, drive past the white house behind the church and
leave your donations on the back porch. If you buy food at Donelans, you
can drop it off in the collection barrel behind the registers.

No perishable or expired food please.

Are you heading out to get your weekend shopping done? Please remember our
neighbors in need!

Boston University’s Law School has a clinic
