I'm using a Ethernet Pro 100 rev 8 (reported by
kernel 2.4)
which doesn't work on my dual processor (PIII 800)
system (with mem=1GB) after reboot (SuSE 7.0) all
configuration looks good (eth0 up and routes
correct) but the card don't send or receives
anything. After doing a init 1 and init 2
everything is working great.
Has someone an idea what 's going wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Hi,

I have a PCMCIA-Adapter for my compact Flash Card (8MB and 32MB), which
I use for my Canon Powershot A5 and I don't know how to mount it. I have
Suse 6.4. installed and "cardctl ident" puts out following

Socket 0:
product info: "LASAT COMMUNICATIONS A/S", "LASAT CREDIT 336"
  manfid: 0x0134, 0x3611
  function: 2 (serial)
Socket 1:
product info: "SunDisk", "SDP", "5/3 0.6"
  manfid: 0x0045, 0x0401
  function: 4 (fixed disk)

the module ide_cs is also loaded.

Further I got these failure in /var/log/messages

Thank you for answeringJan 8 20:42:53 linux cardmgr[70]: initializing

So what and where I should make some changes to fix this and what I

Well, the obvious possibility is that your .config file is up a gum tree.
Did you change it (directly, with make config, make xconfig, etc.) before
compiling the new kernel ? I seem to remember that my kernel.HOWTO says
there a 'make config.old' or something similar which I think might be able
to pull out an old version of the .config file. Alternatively, if you still
have the /usr/scr/IBMMCA (or whatever) directory tree, how about pulling the
.config file out of there and trying again ?

Hope this help.

Regards,
Martin.

The Ethernet HOWTO includes a helpful section on this. It seems to
be basically just a matter of passing both I/O addresses as parameters
to the driver module. (At least, that's all it was with two NE2000
clones in my case.)

If your conclusion is that the K6-2 is generally faster than the
Pentium II, you didn't run a wide enough variety of tests.

Which processor is faster depends highly on what you're running.
A K6-2 has a faster integer core than a Pentium II. The Pentium II
has a better floating point unit. The Pentium II has faster L2
cache, and recent Pentium IIs have a higher memory bus speed.

Of course, AMD has since narrowed the gap with the K6-III then
blown by Intel with the Athlon.

Yeah. Specifically, the original Celerons have no L2 cache, the later
Celerons have 128K of full-speed L2 cache, and the Pentium II/III have
512K of half-speed L2 cache. No cache is bad, but more vs. fas

Hello:

I have a RedHat 5.2 system with a TX Pro II motherboard. In the
release there are no selections for the TX Pro II video chip. I
tried to use the only SiS selection, but the screen messed up royally.
I have rebuilt the system using the SVGA drivers and a generic
monitor. My question is "What , if any, drivers are there for this and
where would I start to find them?". I will start with redhat first.

Ja!

Schau mal in /var/log/messages.

By far the best, try DCG (http://www.dcginc.com). DCG was founded by
Steve Gaudet, whom has spent the last five years working with the Linux
(Alpha, Intel and SPARC) community.

I can't recommend anymore more highly that can help you business. If
you need a dependable solution, and it's Linux, then DCG is your

Date: Mon, 11 Jan 1999 03:30:57 GMT

I have an HP Deskjet 890c connected to a PC running RedHat 5.0.
I've gotten the latest version of ghostscript as a precompiled
rpm, and it includes a driver called cdj550 which works slowly
and with poor output on the 890c. In the ghostscript HOWTO I
read that cdj850, a nonstandard driver, would be more appropriate.
I gave up my attempts to compile ghostscript with that driver after
a couple of hours of error messages. I recognize that this subject
has been treated before, but everyone suggests doing the compilation
I've had difficulties with. I have a few questions:

1. Is
