In your case (Hot/Yes), the CAM is soldiered into the set-top box and it's where you insert the subscriber card. kernel patches for 2.6.10
Hi, I would like to upgarde my kernel, and I need some external patches for some wierd devices/needs in my system. I would like to ask you all, what is your experience with these pacthes: 1) swsusp2: I am using it on 2.6.9, and I cannot stop :) On the official site http://softwaresuspend.berlios.de/ I could not find a patch for version 10 of the 2.6 kernel series. Does it apply to 2.6.10? Or wait/modify the patch? 2) lirc I have an old flyvideo card which has a remote control. I would like to make it work again (TV workd quite fine, but see question bellow) 3) bootsplash I like those things, patches and ideas are always welcomed. There are many versions/types for getting this effect. I would like to have a recomendation for the best out there. 4) supermount .. or something similar. Is it supported under 2.6? How stable is it? 5) any other cool thing will be welcomed. Now, my last question is about linux4video: If I remember, there was an option in the kernel for getting digital audio from my TV card. This way, I can unplug the cord that comes out of the TV card into the sound card. Does anyone have experience with this kind of setup? The system is Debian testing, using plain old devices (no devfs/udev thingies). -- diego, kde-il translation team, http://www.kde.org/il Please avoid sending me Word or PowerPoint attachments. Re: 013 Barak PPTP on Linksys WRT54G wireless router doesnt work?
Just for the sake of my understanding. I also use cable technology and 013 Barak. I never had to do any dialing or any operation to have my communication started. Simple DHCP works just fine although I asked for what they call Permanent connection which is free of charge. What is this dialing all about, what is pns.barak.net.il and what are the benefits of this PPTP technology? Hardened slackware packages
Dear list, I have been maintaining a repository of slackware packages (slackpacks) for a while now and I decided to share it. It is made of the sources and slackware specific patches from the -current tree, compiled with the ProPolice GCC patch and linked using the binutils patch from the PaX team. The PHP package was additionaly patched with the hardened-php patch from http://www.hardened-php.net/ and is a personal recommendation. I will try to keep that repository as up to date as possible, requests and comments are always welcome. You can download them at http://void.eclipse.org.il/alex/stuff/slackpacks/ Kind regards, Alex -- The difference between theory and practice, is that in theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. pgp5PBP8rlpt5.pgp Description: PGP signature

What is this dialing all about, what is pns.barak.net.il and what are the benefits of this PPTP technology? pns.barak.net.il is Barak's access point within the cable operator's private network. It's your gateway to the Internet by using Barak -- in case you're a Barak customer and can authenticate to this gateway. -- By first accessing your cable operator's private network and dialing to the ISP from there, you get the benefit of being able to switch among ISPs dynamically; by choosing to which ISP to tunnel, you're sort-of dialing to it, only over IP. Of course, dialing this way to an ISP requires an account at that ISP, and anyway I don't know anyone who'd wish to have a broadband account at more than one ISP (the speed is per the entire connection, so you'll gain no speed benefit). Also, you can change your IP by disconnecting the PPTP connection and redialing. = To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the word unsubscribe in the message body, e.g., run the command echo unsubscribe | mail [EMAIL PROTECTED]
[HAIFUX LECTURE] C Without a Spoon- Programming in C in a free software environment - CPP gcc - Orna Agmon
Next Monday (10/1/2005), 18:30, the Haifa Linux Club will once again meet to hear Orna Agmon talk about: C Without a Spoon Programming in C in a free software environment On this unit we will learn about the CPP - C Pre Processor, and about gcc - the free C compiler, and about using its options cleverly. If time permits, we will start talking about variables in C. (Note that next week's lecture will be by Dorit Naishlos from IBM HRL, about vectorization in gcc.) This is the second of a series of lectures about good C programming in the environment of free software, to people who have already programmed in some language using procedural programming (In other words, we assume you know of some form of the contruct if-then-else, you know what variables and functions/subroutines are). Slides and course material are available at: http://haifux.org/~ladypine/115-sil/ We meet in the Technion, Taub 3. See http://www.haifux.org/where.html for arrival details. new faster CPU = less open connections?!
howdie people, I just upgraded my server from a Pentium III 500 to a P4 2.8G. I noticed that even though web traffic hasn't changed or even increasedm the netstat behaves differently, specific I have considerably less connections live at any moment, but the ones I do have are mostly at the syn recieved stage rather than connected. http://jenna.scso.com/hotsanic/netstat/connections-month.gif this stat by hotsanic and rrdtool shows the sharp change a week ago when I did the switch. the kernel is the same 2.6.8 from Debian Sarge. After looking at your fonts and reading the remarks, and some RTFM-ing,I got to the following conclusions: 1-As long as I am using xterm, I am limited to the fixed font. This answers, probably, the second question raised in my letter and echoed by Didi. Question: what kind of terminal must one use to get good rendering of the ttf fonts ? 2-After playing a lot with xfontsel, I found out that, above a certain minimum size, clarity and distinguishability are my main requirements. Beauty comes second. I chosed therefore fn '-*-*-bold-r-*-*-25-*-*-*-m-*-iso8859-1' (A lucinda font in my case) and the -etl-fixed-medium-r-normal--24-240-72-72-c-120-iso8859-8 suggested by Didi for Hebrew. I must therefore use two kinds of teminals, like I use two different .vimrc's (one with linelength limitations for mail, and one without, for scripts) and two .octaverc (one for current work and one, when the graphs should be prepared for publication). I guess that the use of unicode would allow me to use only one type of terminal (I use mainly English and Hebrew. Very rarely German, French and my native Romanian. I forgot long ago the little Russian that I've learned half a century ago). This does not make a big difference, but I would appreciate some pointer to RTFM.
