Re: wtc2.org?

2001-09-12 Thread Net Llama

I'm not so sure I like this idea at all for a number of reasons:
1) The site might of the WTC might be better served to become a memorial
for those who lost their lives. Building another shrine to capitalism
(and no i'm not against capitalism) won't server that purpose.
2) The cost of building just 1 tower is billions of dollars. I think
the financial giants of the world should be paying for their own
real-estate. Last I checked, Dean Witter wasn't giving me donations to
build a new house.
3) I think my money is far better served getting donated to relief
organizations such as the Red Cross. Morgan Stanley well get by on
their own.

Yes, but there's one thing DON'T make it a Sky Scraper. Sky Scrapers have been targets
for years, and will continue to be.

As long ago as 1994 (and probably father back then that) the CIA came across documents
Muslim extremists had written, vowing to destroy and tear down "Those tall buildings,
America's Temples".

Anybody who builds a Sky Scraper is coo-koo, if you ask me. Talk about putting all
your eggs in one basket! Is the WTC had been housed in a sprawling industrial park,
the terrorists could have only taken out a very small percent of the lives and data
that they were able to with it all being in 2 big towers.

Which is precisely why WTC *should* be rebuilt -- I'd rather roast in
hell than even appear to be intimidated.

Ok, fine, rebuild 'em both - but no more new ones.

I sure hope they had good off-site backups.

I was going to suggest they be rebuilt 10 floors bigger to make a point,
but this is a far superior solution.

Nah. Cool would be to create a huge (life size) holographic projection
image of the two towers and make the rest of the world think they had been
rebuilt overnight. Then let's see them crash a plane into them! Ha!

if terrorists were after symbolism, they would have chosen the statue

Depends on the symbolism they sought to damage. If they were seeking to
damage symbols of wealth and prosperity of the US and western world in
general, the WTC was a "good" (if good is the right word to use)
choice. The Pentagon, is both literally and symbolically the center of
the US military, another "good" choice.
