Hi Gerardo,
Replace your #navegacion a {...} rule with the one below:
#navegacion a {float:left;display:block;padding:0 5px;line-height:1.8em}

[WSG] [spam] urgent help with navigation li

2006-12-14 Thread Gerardo Chairez [Addictive Media]
Hello Guys,

I´m having some troubles trying to make this navigation works
propertly... I just can´t figure it out what is wrong with the css…

The site http://www.addictivemedia.com.mx/costena/
The css http://www.addictivemedia.com.mx/costena/includes/global.css
The navigation code:

Quiénes Somos
Productos
RecetasNoticias
Promociones

Inicio | Contáctanos | Mapa
de Sitio | English

On the top right side it’s the primary navigation items, there are few
items in html text that on the rollover sould be in the middle of the
red zone and the rollover image should be behind them, also, the last
item has to be an image as it’s the logo of the section and it cant be
done in html, can anyone help me please?

I know the site its in Spanish, but the css rules apply in every
language...

Also… if anyone has further recommendations about this site would be
highly appreciated… thanx again…

Regards,

Gerardo Cháirez

RE: [WSG] min-width and max-width - [was Pixel to Em conversion]

2006-04-27 Thread Gerardo Chairez [Addictive Media]
I have to agree with you Bob on this one... keep it simple its my
mojo... also I really cant understand why it is designed for an
non-typical Resolution, such as 800X600... can anyone answer this?

Asunto: [WSG] min-width and max-width - [was Pixel to Em conversion]

As soon as I see someone mention 'min-width' or 'max-width' I despair
and move on to the next message. The reason? Because I know that
somewhere between 75 and 90% of the site viewers will see a mess. (I
mean IE, of course). Yes, I do know that with a lot of messy code it is

sometimes/eventually possible to get away with 'fixes' but the resulting

page is often just a fragile house of cards which tumbles away to a
shambles when the slightest change is made.

So, I always take the view that there must be another approach available

to achieve the design in question, and I forget about min and max
widths. (and I don't mean tables :-) )

Is this being too harsh?

RE: [WSG] Pixel to Em conversion.

2006-04-26 Thread Gerardo Chairez [Addictive Media]

I dunno if I understand
correctly your question, but if you need to have a fixed width for the right
column I think that you should put it in as pixels (220px) and give right-margin
to the main content area of 220px…

Hi,
I'm trying to get this layout to work with min- and max-width. The max-width
needs to be 880px wide and the min-width must be 680px. I have made the header
and menu in such a way that they can be compressed (to a point), but I can't
seem to figure out how to set the correct em or %. The right column must have a
fixed width of 220px and the main content area must have a flexible width. IE
problems with min- and max-width is not an issue on this project.

Anyone who can explain to me how I should go about this?
The site can be seen here: http://www.fjellman.no/test/
I'm really stuck, so help is appreciated :)

Regards
Morten

RE: [WSG] Web pages needed for testing

2006-04-21 Thread Gerardo Chairez [Addictive Media]
You Know what? You should check Mexican Post Service site,
www.sepomex.gob.mx/ I was impressed beginning with the fact that not all
the navigation work properly... also, this is a joke, but the government
page for disable people of mexico could be a good one too
www.discapacinet.gob.mx

I have nothing against Mexican sites, Im mexican, but seriously, this
pages are the worst that I ever seen...

Hope these sites are helpful

Can anyone suggest some poorly designed web pages for web design
students to take apart? Preferably these would be from public
institutions.

The students at are learning web page design
. So I need some badly designed web
pages for them to run accessibility tests on. I don't want to pick
on web pages from individuals, or those from small companies (unless
someone wants to volunteer their own). But a government or large
company is fair game.

For testing we are using "TAW" from the Centre for the Development of
Information and Communication Technologies in Asturias
.

Previously I used Australian Government web pages as examples of bad
design, but these seem to have had the obvious faults fixed (perhaps
by my ex-students?). I ran a sample of 250 pages in TAW and only got
a couple of errors.

The next step is for the students to reformat one on pages to display
on a mobile phone. For that I will probably use one on Bird Flu, as
per my talk next month for the WSG
.

Hi,

Thanks for asking clarification, the objective left me confused also.
Some of the designs are passable, but the junk under the hood gives
me hives.
