Re: [LUAU] VPN
Anyone know if FreeBSD's NATd is considered a Network Address and Port Translation device (NAPT). - I believe NAPT is different than NAT because it translates the port as well. I know IPFilter and NATd allows for port redirects, does that count? -dosen't sound like. OR know of any good ports that does NAPT? -multiple VPN clients from same IP- Surfed the net like a mutha and i think i got some ideas to make this work. Thanks. Randall
[LUAU] EMail Server Limits
Does anyone here know if any linux based email servers are limited in the size of their dbs? My Exchange Server has a 16 GB limit and it was reached today and crashed the server. I have been trying to get these guys to buy me a server I can run Debian + Exim + Squirrelmail on without any luck. Will that combination crap out when the DB swells? And don't ask about the size. I have told them several times about saving out their emails but they insist they need access to 7 years of mail. Since THEY sign my checks I don't argue. Thanks, Maddog

Nice to know people are still using FreeBSD. You might consider joining freebsd-questions. It is high traffic, but you can snarf good clues once in a while. -multiple VPN clients from same IP- Surfed the net like a mutha and i think i got some ideas to make this work. Did you try the man pages? man natd# search for -redirect_address man 5 ipnat # search for bimap -Vince

Mail is usually stored as a file or a series of files. The limits are based on how large a file can grow on a filesystem. And don't ask about the size. Re: [LUAU] EMail Server Limits
The problem with the PST's is that they cannot access those emails from the web. In Microhard Exchange the Files are stored as a db using the MSDE or Microsoft Desktop Engine which is sort of a combination of SQL Server and Access. Anyways, If the file system is the limit on the email server i would be fine but Exchange 2000 Standard edition has a 16 GB limit on the size of the files. My comment on files was in reference to *nix, open-source mail systems. There should be some that store mail as some sort of DB, but I cannot think of any right now. -Vince
RE: [LUAU] VPN
Did you try the man pages? man natd# search for -redirect_address man 5 ipnat # search for bimap Yes, actually. But I was just wondering if port translation is the same as port redirection. Is it safe to say that the nat daemon does port translation as well as address. If so then NAT = NAPT. Wonder why lots of ppl use it in different context. Thanks. Randall
