Is LyX from macports.org workable?
I have always downloaded LyX for Mac from lyx.org but I’m thinking of trying to install from macports.org. LyX there seems to be well-maintained. I wonder if there would be any issues given that I have used the lyx.org version in the past. Would the macports version find my current preferences file? I will be installing macports from scratch on an Apple Silicon machine. Jerry -- lyx-devel mailing list lyx-devel@lists.lyx.org http://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-devel

I don't think this will work. We have changes in Additional.lyx of 2.4 which we don't want to loose. This document can't be opened with 2.3. You can export it to 2.3 format, but then some new features will be exported to TeX Mode and not reverted back when opened with 2.4. 2.4 is stable enough meanwhile to use it for such kind of work. -- Jürgen -- lyx-devel mailing list lyx-devel@lists.lyx.org http://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-devel
