LyX by itself does not care about iconizing windows. It is the window
manager's job. What you see is probably the result of a policy of kwm
regarding windows from the same application. You might try to shade

Bog: \textstyle in math insets

1999-05-27 Thread Jitse Niesen

I would like to include the fraction 1/2 in a displayed math formula.
However, I don't like LaTeX's default formatting (the fraction gets too
big), so I included a \textstyle. The math box looked like this in Lyx:

 1
  0  r  textstyle{ - }
 2

where the textstyle command and the braces are in red. Everything goes
fine, but when I closed the file and then reopen-ed it, the textstyle
command disappeared but instead the entire formula was set in textstyle.
Obviously I was not expected to include \textstyle myself, but it is not
possible to set only part of a formula in textstyle using Lyx (or is it?)

I use version 1.0.1 so it could be fixed in a later version.
If necessary, I can provide more information.

Errant 11 11 TEX LATEX in printouts

1999-05-27 Thread David Nedrow

First, let me state that I've just started down the SGML, TEX/LATEX road,
so I may be doing something wrong. G

I was using LyX 1.0.3pre4 to generate some documents using the LinuxDoc
format. When I printed my documents, I saw that there was always a line at
the top of the first page the said "11 11 TEX LATEX". This would push the
text of the first page down on the sheet, making the last line of the
first page ride the bottom.

Hmmm.

Thinking it might be a problem with LyX, I tried printing some of the SGML
howto's that ship with RedHat.

Here's how I did it:

1) Ran the SGML file through sgml2latex (sgml-tools 1.0.9)

2) Ran the resulting DVI file through dvips (v5.85 with no options)
sending the output directly to lpr

No matter which document I prcoessed, they all had the "11 11 TEX LATEX"
header.

Am I doing something wrong (steps, config, etc.) or do I need to look at
the tools themselves?

As far as I know, \textstyle does not take a parameter, so the form
you used does not make sense...

Concerning your problem, you might want to read section 5.6.3 of the
user's guide.

Errant "11 11 TEX LATEX" in printouts

1999-05-27 Thread David Nedrow

First, let me state that I've just started down the SGML, TEX/LATEX road,
so I may be doing something wrong.
