It should. Try to use a printer driver from Adobe.

Sometimes there is a 'paint a large white rectangle' command in the

Sure, but inclusion of windows eps export in LyX/LaTeX doesn't work.
There must be some non standard command inside...
Any clue around to fix this ?
Perhaps the eps extract under GStools in Emanuele's mail ?

accents in math

2000-01-25 Thread jdd

I still use the 1.04 lyx version.

I just notice that accents inserted in math mode like this (lyx source
file)

left\{ \begin{array}{c}
\overrightarrow{R}(actions\: extérieures\rightarrow système)=M\:
\overrightarrow{\Gamma }(G)\\
\overrightarrow{M}G\: (action\: extérieure\rightarrow système)=\overrightarrow{0}
\end{array}\right. \]

are normally accepted by lux but not printed nor by gv nor by the printer.
this is not a big problem (I can write this without accents), but should
not be.

thanks

Then l2h is broken :) LyX also runs latex form another directory, but
it takes appropriate steps to try to get things right.

A good solution indeed.

Hi Jean-Marc,

thanks for answering. The absolut path idea might be ok on a
single-user setup. But I do already have about 12 project directories,
which would make quite a messy TEXINPUTS... Imagine another 10
users

Your suggestion to include the directory prefix, i.e.

eps/my_eps_file.eps

would work with lyx, but will fail with the latex2html translator, as
l2h does its translation from within a subdirectory of the current
document directory.

The ultimate remedy of including the whole path gives unfortunatly
rather unportable documents...

For the time beeing, I've linked the files from the eps directory into
the document dir.

take care

If you don't want to modify the original database, what
about writing a short supplementary one ?
You may enumerate databases in the bibliography tag, separated by commas.

Hello,

Unfortunately, the form of \includegraphics used by LyX is a bit
rudimentary. In fact, the whole thing needs a rewrite...

TEXINPUTS should only contain absolute paths. If the eps figures are
in a subdirectory of the document directory, you can specify them as
eps/myfigure.eps

uliw>A similar problem exists with user defined style files

I guess the same answer holds.

Re: Bold greek characters in math-mode???

2000-01-25 Thread Angus Leeming

Thank you for your help.

A careful read of the LaTeX manual reveals that \mathbf, \mathrm, \mathit etc
change the style only of leters, numbers and UPPERCASE Greek letters. Hence the
need for something a little more drastic to obtain LOWERCASE Greek letters.

Stephan, your fix is essentially the same as my own. I find that what works
best for me is:

\newcommand{\bmath}[1]{\mbox{ \boldmath$\!\!#1$}}

The formatting here is Ok and \( a \bmath{\omega} b \) gives me
a bold omega with normal a, b on either side. Importantly, there are no large
spaces between the three symbols.

What a faff!
Angus

because of that 'replace' component). I consider it a bug.

The popup window with the 'replace' field disabled would be
quite fine.

try \matrx{B} and \matrx{\Gamma}

and than you get bold B and bold Gamma. notice that B is in italic, it's
the standard math mode for latin letters. if you want italic style for
the capital greek letters too, try

\newcommand{\matrx}[1]{\mathbf{ \mit#1 }}

Bold greek characters in math-mode???

2000-01-25 Thread Angus Leeming

Any power-LaTeX users out there who can help me?

I'm trying to get bold greek characters in mathed (actually, in the output from
LaTeX --- I don't really care if LyX can't bold them!)

Typing "M-b a \beta c" within mathed produces bold "a" and "c" but not \gamma.

This also happens in macros. For example, using the macro:
\newcommand{\matrx}[1]{\mathbf{ #1 }}
Typing \matrx B creates a bold "B", but \matrx \Gamma produces an un-bolded
\Gamma.

I have to define a horrible cludge:
\newcommand{\bmath}[1]{ \mbox{ \boldmath ${ \!\! #1 \!\! }$ } }
\newcommand{\matrx}[1]{\bmath{ #1 }}

This DOES work. Everything is bolded. However, the negative spaces (that I
introduce to try and keep the output reasonable looking) mess up the
typesetting. Sometimes they're Ok, sometimes they're not.

Can anybody do any better?
Best wishes,
Angus
