commands with 2 args in a layout ?
Hello, I am trying to make a layout for the lettre.cls written by Denis Mgevaud. I have had no problem for the "lettre" TextClass but I am having one whith the "telefax" one, namely that they must start with \telefax{XXX}{YYY} where XXX is the fax number and YYY is the recepiender name and I have not found any "style" that could generate this kind of structure. Is this acheivable or is it necessary to use a dialog box (as for the citation insertions) ? Re: commands with 2 args in a layout ?
Salut Nabil. I already started working with lettre.cls, but never went deeply into the fax part. In fact, I stopped when I got the very minimum I needed. lazzy boy! So I havent exactly your answer, but this file may help you anyway. There is a lot of thing a layout can do, by putting LaTeX cod einto the Preamble. Here, the idea was to get rid of the imposed order of letter and so on classes( I like to write a letter as I am used to see it). So each layout, instead of using the Latex command, declared a variables. The appropriate latex construction is done once a new "lettre" or "fax" is encountered (with lettre.cls there may be more than one on a file), and when the "fin de fichier" layout is encountered. So, for the fax, you could declare a "numero du destinataire" and a "destinataire" layouts, which set LaTeX variables destNumber and destId, and then when buildind the correct LaTeX output use \telefax{\destNumber}{\destId} If you adopt this scheme, I will be glad to use your layout (I insist to make LyX lettre layout "order insensitive"). And maybe I could find some time to help you a little bit (but remember, I am lazzy). Anyway, if my draft can help you, here it is. Have fun Alain On Fri, 2 Feb 2001, Nabil Hathout wrote: Hello, I am trying to make a layout for the lettre.cls written by Denis Mgevaud. LyX 1.1.5x and keyboard control
While it was never possible to control each and every function/popu in LyX through keyboard commands, chances have considerably decreased since tabbed dialogues were introduced in LyX 1.1.6x. I therefore have to admit my somewhat mixed feelings about the advancement of LyX. The new functions of 1.1.6 are huge accomplishments, but the need to use the mouse more often to get things done is a huge drawback, at least for me. Is an objective for the developer team to achieve as much keyboard compatibility as possible? Wouldn't that be a necessary prerequisite for full GUI independence and curses/slang/newt-based frontends? If so, is there any way the user community community help in this affair? I would be willing to offer money on the "Free Software Bazaar" for making LyX 100% (or at least 99.5%) controllable through the keyboard. But such an offer would only make sense if others join and increase the sum offered. Problems installing LyX 1.1.6fix1 (win32)
Hello, I installed the new version of Lyx (on Win2000), but it hangs (as reported before in this mailing list) when you first time press a key on the keyboard. Everything else works fine when you only use the mouse. (With Version 1.1.6 there's that problem, too. Version 1.1.5fix2 no problems.) As a possible solution there was suggested an upgrade of the x-server. I tried X-Win32 5.1.1. build2 (demo version) and Winaxe 6.0 (demo version): The same behaviour. Has anyone a solution for this problem? Another thing on Version 1.1.6.fix1 is that the runconfigure.bat doesn't complete. It stops at: "checking latex configuration ... (auto)" Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Bye, Steffen

[snip] An example about default.ui The association of a popup to a function is described in default.ui: Item "New...|N" "buffer-new" This is turned into a message in the po file: #: src/MenuBackend.C:406 src/ext_l10n.h:12 src/ext_l10n.h:17 msgid "New...|N" msgstr "Nouveau...|N" where the msgid is extracted from the default.ui. As a counterpart to this new work to performe on the po file: the shortcuts ( N ) are declared in the po file and nowhere else; you may channr it to fit the non-english word. You must check however that the same letter does not appear twice in the same popup (AFAIU) I noted it. I made the changes that allow work with this way. May be some letters doesn't represent the best way to reach an option, but it's a fist approach (I'm talking about the es.po file that uploaded). commands with 2 args in a layout ?
Bye, Steffen

commands with 2 args in a layout ?
Hello, I am trying to make a layout for the lettre.cls written by Denis Mégevaud. There might be another solution, that is to modify the lettre class, but then the layout will be dependant of this modification. Thank you in advance, --Nabil Hathout

I do not remember the details, I Is that related to LyX's little quirk where sometimes, after its own dialog boxes close, LyX does not regain focus? I cannot count the times where, while touch-typing (not watching screen), I have done something like "yada yada volt-example-1 blah blah..." only to find that the "blahs" went nowhere because the WM did not re-focus LyX when the "Insert reference" box closed. I have seen this behavior under different window managers (WindowMaker, KDE[12]). So, I have to look more often at what I've been typing... normally I don't like to do that because I might find a mistake. ;) -- // Carl Hudkins :: ICQ 5723399 // // "Wake me when it's over, touch my face // Tell me every word has been erased..." --TMBG

ANNOUNCE: Lyx 1.1.6fix1 on Win32
As quick as possible ;-) the current stable release 1.1.6fix1(Win32) is available for download as usual here: http://www.fh-hannover.de/mbau/tim/hentschel/lyx/index.htm Now there are two versions available! - One (as the last two releases) including a little bit of Windows' stuff to access the registry of Windows and to ensure one single window on the screen. - NEW there is available a native Cygwin executable (like all versions before release 1.1.5fix2) where error output can be viewed in a command line window running beside! Happy lyxing on M$-Windows! Claus

Installation help
Is there a binary version for solaris 2.6 or 2.7? I am trying to compile lyx 1-1.6 on a 2.6 machine using egcs-2.91 and I keep running into class errors on stdexcept? Since I am not a C++ programmer I really do not understand the errors. Has anyone seen this? If I used the SUNWorkshop compiler I run into other errors. small bug?
I'compiled lyx-1.1.6fix1, everything works well, but at the 1st run LyX tried to execute share/lyx/configure without success. I noticed that shell script has not executable permission, so I changed permission and now it works. I've compiled and installed with user priveileges (I've not root login :-( ). Is this the reason of the (small) bug? Thanks to all LyX developers. Emanuele

LyX turns black: tabular problem in 1.1.6fix1
Hi! Please have a look at the attached example-file. When I click into the last cell in the right column (6,00) with the left mouse to aktivate the new red text-border and then click inside of the redborder the right button to get to the tabular-menu, LyX turns black.
