latex qn and lyx configure qn
Hi.. 1. I have a sty file (bibtopic.sty) in my local texmf tree.. i.e. in $TEXMF/tex/latex/natbib/ but lyx refuses to recognize it even after I run texhash... why? 2. I just installed prosper.. now it was installed in the main texmf directory (not my local one) but the configure script of lyx doesn't seem to be checking for the prosper class files... I can see that it checks for foil but not prosper.. how do I get LyX to check for prosper? Cos now if I try opening a file which uses prosper I get an error saying textclass prosper not found and so the LyX file will be opened in a read-only mode.. Thanks, nirmal

froze while open a lyx file
hi, I compiled and installed cjk-lyx 1.2.1 on debian/woody, linked with xforms 0.88-1. But when open some files(about 10 pages long) I wrote with this version cjk-lyx, lyx froze and the status bar told me "formatting document". I have waited for long time, but no result, so killed lyx:-) I have tested some very simple file, but no problem. How can I resolve this problem? Thanks in advance! regards, linuxman
natbib
Dear fellow users, I have a quick question. I am using natbib to format citations and the bibliography in a large compound document. I would like to be able to print each chapter individually from the chapter file rather than the master document with correct (natbib generated) citations but without having to generate a bibliography for the chapter. To get the citations now I have to include a bibliography at the end of a chapter. So my question is, is it possible to suppress the creation of a bibliography and still feed natbib the info it needs to generate the citations? Thanks for any of your help. ||-|| Christopher von Nagy 2897 Cadence Court Reno, NV 89523 775.787.1355

It is really IMHO a bit a waste of time to search for the possibility to get EPS stored in the filter (I know how to get this format into the image-filter). LyX is such a great product. are you getting a clean build of Xforms 1.0RC5.2?
I'm wondering if, for LyX, the new Xforms really makes a difference. I run into some weird trouble building it. On RH 7.3 with gcc-3.0.4, I'm trying to build xforms-1.0RC5.2. The problem I run into is that the linker can't find libXext and unless I hack the Makefile like so: EXTENSIONLIB = -L/usr/X11R6/lib -lXext then I get linker error like so: rm -f libflimage.so.1.0~ + cd . + gcc -o ./libflimage.so.1.0~ -shared -Wl,-soname,libflimage.so.1 image.o image_bmp.o image_combine.o image_convolve.o image_crop.o image_disp.o image_fits.o image_genesis.o image_gif.o image_gzip.o image_io_filter.o image_jpeg.o image_jquant.o image_marker.o image_png.o image_pnm.o image_postscript.o image_proc.o image_replace.o image_rotate.o image_scale.o image_sgi.o image_text.o image_tiff.o image_type.o image_warp.o image_xbm.o image_xpm.o image_xwd.o postscript.o ps_core.o ps_draw.o ps_text.o rgb_db.o matrix.o -L/usr/local/xforms1RC/lib -lXext -lX11 -L/usr/local/lib -L../lib -lforms -ljpeg -ltiff -lc /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lXext collect2: ld returned 1 exit status To fix it, I have to force -L/usr/X11R6/lib into several Makefiles in subdirectories so it can find libXext.so. This seems to be necessary as long as you DO NOT install xforms in the standard directory like /usr/X11R6. Do you have that same experience? Is there an environment flag or other option I can use to fix it, without changing the xforms source code? I'll build an rpm so anybody can try LyX with it. ps: I've confirmed the warning that you must remove your old xforms if you want to build this new one. It is total hell if you try to build and it finds your old xforms headers. -- Paul E. Pasting ASCII text into lyx impossible?
Hello, I have just installed Lyx (on a Linux PC) and found out, that I can not paste ASCII text I cpoied from another application or URLs into a lyx Document. This can't be true, or can it?!? Jörn
Using natbib
Hi I'm using natbib but I want to use parenthetical references by default. The LaTeX file produced by LyX uses the \cite command, that is treated as a textual reference by natbib. So the default becomes a textual reference. To use parenthetical references it should use either \cite[] or, as preferred by the natbib author, the \citep command. How can I change this ? Thanks EJ
