DocBook/TEI authoring with LyX
Hello list! After longer pause I'm back on lyx-users list. In the past I produced two books with LyX/LaTeX but because the need of XML source I was considering to use ConTeXt instead of LyX/LaTeX. Today I emerged latest LyX 1.3.4 on My Gentoo box and it really looks great. Kudos to all the developers. I'm interested to hear if there is some plan to support import or TEI documents and/or is it possible to author them in LyX? The upcoming (not yet :-) version V5 of TEI/DocBook will support some kind of 'marriage' between the two, so I'd like to know if/how LyX can be used. The possible scenarios are: a) authoring TEI/DocBook in some XML editor -- import LyX -- high q. output b) writing TEI/DocBook directly in LyX -- high quality output I'm sure (hope) I'm not the only one who needs source document in TEI/DocBook, and do not want to use FO for paper output, but rather use TeX typesetting system. Any hint? Sincerely, Gour -- Gour [EMAIL PROTECTED] Registered Linux User #278493
problem centering figure
Deal Lyx Users, I have a very rapid dummy question: I meet a lot of difficulty to center my figures in a Lyx Document. What is the simpliest command to have the origin of a figure at the center of the figure float? Harold, You just need to select your picture and then go to Layout-Paragraph and select center alignment. I hope this helps you. Paul
problem with some document classes
I use Gentoo and compiled LyX from source, the problem is that some of the document Classes appear as Unavailable: tipe of document. Document classes that appear there are: cv, hollywood, memoir a lot of kind of articles and some more. For example, for cv I have all the files I should have (I think): /usr/share/lyx/layouts/cv.layout /usr/share/lyx/tex/cv.cls /usr/share/lyx/examples/cv.lyx I did a texhash as root and Edit-Reconfigure. Don't know what else to try, any ideas? Thank you. Francisco
Cursive Caption doesn't stay cursive in PDF
Hello! Someone on this list recently helped me when I wanted the figure captions to be clearly differentiable from the normal text and said I should include %% Set the captions to be italic \newcommand\myCaption[1]{\itshape\refstepcounter{figure}% \begin{center}\figurename\ \thefigure :\ #1\end{center}\upshape} \let\caption\myCaption in my Preamble. This works fine for DVI output. But when I use dvipdf and other pdf generating methods the Caption comes out as if the \itshape never happened. Anyone able to help me? Philipp

But you should replace your preamble stuff with the line \setkomafont{captionlabel}{\itshape} (when using a koma-script class) or \usepackage[labelfont=it]{caption} (works with every class) This will prevent you of any troubles and incompatibilities with other packages.
latex.s-v-p.de down?
Hello! When I go to latex.s-v-p.de I don't get the usual but a login screen from confixx... Is this true for you, too? If yes, do you know whom to contact to get it back? Thanks Philipp
