Two problems:
1. the \Tree was not in math-text mode, but in math-math mode (mark the whole
command and hit C-m again).
2. a missing blank. You had \Tree[.abc] instead of \Tree[.abc ] (or rather
\Tree[.a b c ]). That's because probably blanks are suppressed. in math-math
mode.

Obviously the wrong \tree syntax breaks the whole previewing process. I
remember this is a known issue.

Corrected file attached. Works for me.

It's needed if preview is done by means of dvipng (which is default as of
1.4.0). Otherwise some lines are missing (also in the pdflatex output). It's
spelled "noeepic" btw.
Strange enough, however, this does not work with your example.

I see. This is probably because the previews are not loaded in the background.
I think this is a regression.

http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/FiguresInLyX

pdflatex doesn't process eps images.
LyX can use a converter like epstopdf, ps2pdf or ImageMagick
for changing eps to pdf so that pdflatex can use it (pdf png)

In 1.4.1 the Preferences with file formats and converters
are now found under Tools.

No, it converts

which is correct. The brace around the R is not necessary and the brace
around R^{3} specifies that \mathbb is only used for these characters
and not for the whole formula as you defined it.
Both expressions are correct and produce the same output, so what's the

Both work for me. However, for Qtree I have to use

  Do this:

./configure --with-frontend=qt

It should find your qt install directory without problem, but the
configuration step needs to know if you want the qt front end or the xforms
front end. Personally, I was glad to get rid of xforms.

I don't know why you are having this problem. It works for me. The way
to diagnose the problem is to export to LaTeX and then compile it
manually. You'll get more information that way. If you continue to have

John,

The process is a simple, five-step one:

  1.) tar xzvf

  2.) cd filename-a.b.c

3.) ./configure (You can check options and the default install
directory by

running './configure --help | less' first.)

  4.) make

5.) make install (as root). If you use Slackware, Debian, or Red Hat, you
can replace this step with 'checkinstall' (might need to find and build it
first). That will let you build a package for these distributions.

You can preceed each of the above commands with 'time ' and it will tell
you how much time it took for the command to complete.

Happy building,

Rich

Hello LyXers,

I uploaded a new version of the german math manual "LyXMathebefehle" to

Version 3.0 is completely revisited to cover the new features of LyX

features of LyX 1.3.7.

The document is still in german but I'm starting to translate it into
