Why can't I use \multiplefootnoteseparator or (in the preamble)
\KOMAoption{footnotes=multiple} ?
Is the KOMA-Script version provided by LyX old(er)?

No, you can't do this. It'd be nice, to be sure, but it's far from a simple problem. What you can do is... I just cannot find it in the documentation. I'm using lyx 1.6.1 (article) on a linux slackware system (vector 5.9). When I print out the document, indexed, the index only goes about half-way across the page. The right half of the page is blank. This means the page number is below the index text. (see below screenshot replica) I need the page number to be at the right of the page when the index is printed. Any ideas on how to get the index text when printed to spread across the full page will be most appreciated. I tried to attach a png screenshot but it was rejectd as too big. Copy and Paste Latex
Is it possible to paste latex code into LyX? I don't mean in a tex field, but so that LyX translates the Latex code to LyX, similar to what happens when you import a Latex file? I just cannot find it in the documentation. Say, you work with someone who does not use LyX, but Latex. If they send you some latex code in an e-mail it would be nice to be able to paste that into LyX. Powerdot and 1.6.1
All,
I upgraded to 1.6.1 from 1.5.4 and from texlive-2007 to texlive-2008 over the
weekend, and now find that my powerdot presentations will not compile.
Even the sample presentations supplied with powerdot do not work.
The error with powerdor-example.lyx is:
File ended while scanning use of \...@whilist
LaTeX Error: Missing \begin{document}.
Undefined control sequence
(repeated about 20 times)
Extra \fi.
Parameters must be numbered consecutively.
(repeated)
Undefined control sequence.
Argument of \...@tempa has an extra }.
Missing number, treated as zero.
Undefined control sequence.
(above two repeated numerous times)
LaTeX Error: File `size.clo' not found.
At least some of these appear to relate to xkeyval.
powerdot requires xkeyval at least as new as 2.5c. I have 2.6a.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any suggestions for debugging it?

That probably means there is an error in your layout file. If you
start LyX from a terminal, you'll get some more helpful error
messages.

Not having had a need for this myself yet, it sounds like the new Layout Modules in LyX 1.6 are the thing you are after. I created a new class starting from a sty file and the report class, following the Customization guide, 6.2.2. If i create a new file and try to change the document class to "report(myclass)" i get "The document could not be converted in the document class myclass". What's wrong? Available options for maintaining a document family
Hi All, I am currently in charge of maintaining a cross-platform technical documentation tree at a multi-user site. We chose LyX as the primary document editor and are very happy of that choice, so far. All our documents are based on the excellent koma book class, along with its LyX layout and feature extra customizations like custom margins, custom logo pictures, watermark background pictures, custom hyperref setup, custom font selections, custom headings and custom colors. What I am trying to achieve right now is a document family with all those customizations factored out: 1) All the customizations, plus the external files they depend on, defined in one single, version-controlled directory. 2) An easy way for documentation writers to use the above without duplicating it. EG: One single LyX file somehow referencing the custom document class should suffice. 3) A way for documentation tools maintainers to easily change the customizations and have the changes reflected in the whole document tree. I looked at different alternatives, here are my findings: * Use a LyX template as a seed for the documents. I tried it, it works, but it rules out 3), and makes it difficult to include external files without duplicating everything. The external files problem could probably be solved by having the template play tricks with relative paths and maintaining the template instances at the same relative level, but 3) is still not possible once the documents are created. * Write a full-blown LaTeX class and the corresponding LyX layout. I did not try it yet, but this looks to me like the kitchen-sink solution. I'm neither a LaTeX-class writer, nor a LyX power user, and I fear loosing a lot of time in the process. Isn't there something else that would help me achieve my goals ? Is the LyX layout language alone expressive enough to specify what I'm trying to do? Leave out the brackets. And try it first in the mini-buffer (Meta-x) to
make sure it works.
BTW: I think there is something wrong with the creation of shortcuts - at
least on the mac. One can't modify a shortcut but have to delete it and
create it from scratch. There is an empty template e.g. "Paragraph-params"
in choosing to modify it LyX is creating a new one.
I think this has been reported, but you might want to check bugzilla.

In your preamble, put: \let\textLR\lr You might want to report this to the devel list. We try to be as friendly to each language as possible, and this kind of thing could be put into LyX, rh

Shortcut for modifying current paragraph?

I wanted to create a shortcut for changing certain paragraphs from left to
center align and vice versa. I looked up the corresponding LFUN
paragraph-params. It says that I have to provide the corresponding parameter
in brackets. I have to choose from
: \align block|left|right|center|default
But I do not know how to include it into the shortcut edit window. I tried:

URW Classico, Garamond etc. with LyX?
Hello, I've installed the additional (not really entirely free) fonts using the "getnonfreefonts-sys" script in TeX Live. LyX doesn't offer them in the popup menu in the document settings dialog box however. At least not e.g. Garamond and URW Classico (alias Optima). Luxi Mono however somehow seems to have managed to sneak into the menu. What's up? Sincerely, Wolfgang

I want to create a literate scrbook, not just a literate book
Dear everybody:
Can I use the Lyx literate-book textclass to create a KOMA script
book, rather than just a boring old book? For that matter, if one is
using a literate-article textclass, isn't there a way to specify the
*type* of article?
I realize I can output the tex file from the noweb document and change
book to scrbook, but it seems like it should be easier.
It this question clear? I want the tex file created by LyX to have
"book" changed to "scrbook", as in this case:

\makeatother
\documentclass[oneside,english]{scrbook}
...
to this:

\makeatletter

\makeatother

Hmm. I've been looking at this quite a bit.
Am I right in guessing that there's no way to customize a book (noweb)
document inside the LyX document itself, but I can create a new layout
file that changes the literate-book.layout from this:
#% Do not delete the line below; configure depends on this
# \DeclareLaTeXClass[book,noweb.sty]{book (Noweb)}
to this:
#% Do not delete the line below; configure depends on this
# \DeclareLaTeXClass[scrbook,noweb.sty]{book (Noweb)}
Supposing that is needed, can I ask a follow up question?
Suppose a document has to be used by many people who do not have the
customized layout file in their preferences folder. Is there a way
that I could tell LyX to look for the layout file in the *same
directory* as the LyX file and the figures and bibliography? If I
could do that, users might actually be able to edit a document without
customizing their layout collection.
