Colored Cell/row with multicolumn
I aHi, I am a new user with lyx and couldn't find the solution for my (simple?) problem. I want to color the whole row of a table which I merged with multicolumn to one cell. The cell has 6 columns (a long table), and lots of rows. I tried the following: - If I add the TEXcode \cellcolor{blue} as ERT in the begining of the cell (the merged one) , then only the first of 6 columns (although merged) gets colored and the text, which I originally had centered is aligned on the left. - I also tried to color the merged cell with \rowcolor{blue} but only get an error: misplaced \noalign Hi, The only thing which works is not to merge the cells with multicolumn and set the TEXcode \rowcolor{blue} in the first cell of the table. But of course I would like to have also the feature of having no lines between the columns and the text aligned in the middle. can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks!

I'm on Windows 7 with MiKTeX 2.8 and LyX 1.6.7. I ran a MiKTeX update (using the admin version of MiKTeX Package Manager), and then reconfigured LyX. Now, every time I run pdflatex from LyX, Windows prompts me if I want to let MPM to make changes to my system. Very annoying. Worse, since there are two passes of pdflatex, I'm prompted twice. Basically, you have to install Inkscape, make sure it's in the path somewhere (either in the system path or the path prefix under tools->preferences->paths) so LyX can run the image conversion commands, and reconfigure LyX. There is also some help for this on the wiki at: http://wiki.lyx.org/Tips/UseInkscapeSVGImages Jacob So, after I sent the last message, I felt a little silly as I was realizing that you probably had Inkscape 0.47 working, but had trouble with inkscape 0.48. I gave only general Inkscape information in my last response. I have since gotten things to work with Inkscape 0.48 on my windows 7 machine. I have not tried as of yet on my linux box. I did have one hitch, and it had to do with the textext extension. To work around this issue, there are two things. You need to patch your inkscape python installation with something like this http://sourceforge.net/projects/timink/files/pygtk-2.16_for_inkscape-0.48.zip/downloadand you need to modify your textext.py file as per the instructions here: http://pascalschulthess.de/inkscape-and-textext-deprecation-warning/ As an additional reference, I got most of this information from here: http://bitbucket.org/pv/textext/issue/55/textext-using-inkscape048 After making those modifications, I had no trouble exporting Inkscape SVG graphics. I hope this helps. Jacob

.sty file not found
Hello all. I'm trying to typeset bridge deals/diagrams using lyx. There's package for this called "bridge". I load the package in the preamble but I use it I get "bridge.sty" not found message. I checked MikTex and found that there is indeed no bridge.sty file but bridge.tpm file instead. What am I supposed to do? Anybody out there who can help me with typesetting bridge related issues in general? I use Windows 7 Pro with Lyx 1.6.7 and MikTex 2.8. Thanks in advance.
Re: rotate large table
I could not run the modules, but the LaTeX code of the module has worked. Thank you! 2010/10/26 stephen's mailinglist account < stephen4mailingli...@googlemail.com> > 2010/10/26 Francisco J. pdflatex always runs package manager
This wasn't happening before the MiKTeX update. Should I try reconfiguring again? Should I reinstall MiKTeX? Should I ask this on the MiKTeX lists rather than here? Thanks in advance.

So I switched back to use 0.47 until today in Windows. In Ubuntu I have no problems (of course need to modify textext.py) Regards Waluyo
relative path for images
Hello to all, this is surely a very simple question, but I'm a total no-geek and is driving me crazy. I want to change the absolute path of the figures that I insert (the 90% of them as a float) to a relative path, since I'm working from differents computers and syncing the files with dropbox. I have found precisely this info in these help files, but I'm doing something wrong, since it is not working as expected. btw, I am using LyX version 1.6.7,so the path idicated in the first link: Layout -> Document -> Praeamble, is the same as Document -> Settings -> LaTeX Preamble, which is the only one I've found ? http://wiki.lyx.org/Windows/LyXWinTips http://wiki.lyx.org/FAQ/RelativeFiguresLocation Thanks in advanced, MaDro

CTAN.org contains two packages related to bridge: http://tug.ctan.org/cgi-bin/ctanPackageInformation.py?id=bridge http://tug.ctan.org/cgi-bin/ctanPackageInformation.py?id=bridge-pln Neither is actually a LaTeX package, but the macros defined in the former could certainly be used to create a style file that could then be used, though they might have to be adapted a bit for LaTeX 2e, since they seem to have been written for 2.09. The latter might also be usable, but I haven't looked at it. In any event, this will take some work. Richard

It turns out I got hit by this bug: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail=3067362_id=10783=110783 There are several bugs that have poped up on the MikTeX mailing list since their 2.8 release; to be safe I would delay upgrading for a little while. Glad you solved your problem. Cheers, Julien
