Re: Shortcuts for \ldots
I would like to have a shortcut for \ldots. My preferred would be three dots, that is \bind "period period period" "math-insert \\ldots" but it doesn't work: what am I missing? You now that \ldots (in text mode, though) is bound to Alt-period by default? Yes, I know, but I hardly use it in text mode, if ever, whereas I use it quite often in math mode: so I have unbound it and I made the shortcuts \bind "M-comma M-comma M-comma" "math-insert ,\\ldots," \bind "M-period M-period M-period" "math-insert \\cdots" They make my workflow faster, but I can't guess why they don't work without the Alt modifier. Thanks very much for that help Stefano. I've split the file into two parts, and can now generate PDF. Generating PS is still giving some trouble though! Modern drives are way too cheap to go through the hassle of playing musical files. If getting the new drive or redistributing partitions fixes the LyX problems, great. If not, getting enough disk space will certainly prevent other frustrating problems down the road. Re: 304-page book, but PDF cuts short at Page 236
Frederick, we need some more information on what is happening to provide help. Do you get any error message during compilation? Did you look at the Latex log? Any error there? The error message you reported in your second message (the compilation to PS) seems to suggest you may have run out of space on your hard drive. Or it may have to do with a permission issue. Difficult to tell unless you provide more info. If I first open an okular instance with View -> PDF (or clicking on the icon), from that window I can do Reverse search all right. However, if I ask for a Forward search, a second okular window opens on the correct location, and with this second window I can perform both Forward and Reverse. However, if I exit LyX, open the document again and select Navigate -> Forward search as the first thing, LyX warns me that I should first compile the document... So, I guess that this is still an okular bug... -- Rudi Gaelzer Institute of Physics Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul BRAZIL Registered linux user # 153741
Re: Forward/reverse search and LuaTeX
For me, Forward/Reverse search only works with pdflatex. For Xelatex I probably should enter with some custom configuration. If anyone knows how to do it, please advise. Even with pdflatex, reverse search works ok, but for Forward search the "--unique" specification is not obeyed. Every time I want the jump LyX => PDF, a new instance of Okular is launched. Problem importing an OpenOffice document
I was experimenting importing a document from Apache OpenOffice 3.4.0 to LyX and have run into a strange problem. LyX is interpreting an apostrophe as ERT of {\textquotesingle}. That is the brackets are ERT. Thus didn't is now didn{\textquotesingle}t. I tried importing the file the file with LyX 2.1 and 2.0.6 in Ubuntu 13.04 with the same results. After deleting the imported latex preamble the file compiles nicely but I am at a loss on how to get rid of the ERTs, Search and replace does not seem to work for me. The AOO file is in Canadian English if that matters. Another, rather complicated document, writen by someone else about a year ago seems to be choking on something else, perhaps the tables but it is not mangling the apostropes and will compile the first paragraph, no tables, properly. Unfortunately I don't know what flavour of English was used to write this documety A zip file containing my two files is available at http://www.mediafire.com/download/qp4vb97a8f291n9/footnote.problem.zip since Yahoo is refusing to accept them. Thanks for any advice.
