Re: Problem with fraction in TikZ insert
Besides stripping out the package loads mentioned by Jürgen, I had to switch AMSMath (Document > Settings > Math Options) from automatic to manual load (because the \dfrac command, which requires it, is in ERT). Once I did that, the document compiled. Paul

Endfloat: adding Tables and Figures bookmark(s) to ToC, pdf
Dear LyX users, I am using the endfloat package to move table and figure floats to the end of my document. I would like for separate "Tables" and "Figures" section headers to appear in the Table of Contents and for bookmarks to be generated in the PDF (using hyperref). However, this doesn't seem to happen, even though I am including the -heads- option when adding the endfloat package. I have tried a workaround via \addcontentsline, e.g. \addcontentsline{toc}{section}{Tables and Figures} but this ends up pointing to the page before the Tables. (endfloat starts on a newpage). Any suggestions? Thanks, BL PS: LyX 2.0.7 on Windows 7. Key bits of code: in preamble: \usepackage[heads,lists,tablesfirst,nomarkers]{endfloat} \usepackage{hyperref} in body: \addcontentsline{toc}{section}{Tables and Figures} PPS - While I would prefer separate headers, I would be happy with a single "Tables and Figures" entry.

? inserted when pressing SHIFT-COMMAND-/ to access Help Menu
Hi I am using LyX 2.0.7.1 on Mac OSX Maverick and whenever I press SHIFT-COMMAND-/ to access the Help Menu, a blue / even though I have disabled the shortcut specialchar-insert-slash. Is this only me and my config, and how can I get rid of the /? Cheers, Rainer -- Rainer M. Krug email: RMKruggmailcom pgpJ5pjNHD5Tm.pgp Description: PGP signature

TIA for any help. Best regards, As of TeXLive 2013, babel core and babel language files have been split, and for some odd reason, many linux distros do not install the latter by default. So look for packages named "texlive-babel-french" or "texlive-lang-french" or similar and install them (and also the other languages). Jürgen
Babel error since update
Hello, I had LyX slightly updated today as part of the Linux Mint Debian update process. The version no. is 2.0.6 (as before I believe) but the package no. is now 2.0.6-1+b1. But, at the same time, the whole TeXLive was updated to 2013. Now I ran into Babel errors when trying to compile documents that ran fine before. The only workaround I've found is to set, under document properties, "linguistic package" to "none". Obviously, this is not satisfactory and there has to be a better way. Below is a copy of the error I get. TIA for any help. Best regards, -- Daniel CLEMENT error message: --8<-- ! Package babel Error: Unknown option `french'. It is very time consuming to replace it manually, anybody has idea how to make it faster? Most probably advanced search and replace, or pLyX. I usually think this kind of thing is better done prior to import. In fact, whenever I import a TeX document, I usually do it a few times, tweaking the TeX document after each import to clean up various problems. Richard

Re: Problem with fraction in TikZ insert
Good point. I am not sure when I updated TeXLive but I think it was over a year ago. Must get to work now but I'll try updating it this afternoon or tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks and have a good week-end. On Friday, February 28, 2014 8:45:39 AM, Jürgen Spitzmüller wrote: John Kane wrote: > It's beginning to look like it may be something specific to my set-up. Re: Problem with fraction in TikZ insert
Thank Jurgen. I had forgotten I even had them loaded. They are part of my normal template. The shortinsets-name is a relatively new one by Andrew Parsloe that hides long inset names giving less distraction for something like labels or cross-references Unfortuately I am still getting the same error after removing those modules and even reloading LyX. I even removed the local layout I had and stripped the preamble to nothing but \usepackage{tikz} with no better result. I, also, tried it in Lyx 2.1 with no luck. It's beginning to look like it may be something specific to my set-up. Oh well I'm not using it, just experimenting for future possible use so it not a panic. Problem with fraction in TikZ insert
I have been experimenting with TikZ and have been through the manual TikZ pour l'impatient, (Gérard Tisseau et Jacques Duma) 15 novembre 2013 Everything was going well until I hit the second example on pg. 18. Everything is fine until I try to add a fraction , the \draw (22:1.5) node {$\dfrac{\pi}{4}$}; line and I don't see what is wrong. It looks like the problem is in the fraction expression because it works if I switch to \draw (22:1.5) node {$Z$};. The orignal works just fine in LaTeX. Am I missing something obvious or encountering a package conflix of some kind?
