button to add rows to tables
Hello, In lyx 1.3.x, I used to use the global tabular window to add and remove rows and columns (only one click was needed to add one row). In lyx 1.4.0, this functionality has become items in a sub-menu (3 clicks to add each row). It would be nice to have both options (keep the the tabular window buttons and the menu items). Yes, thank you very much.
I have a last question (for now). In order to make Lyx not generate
\maketitle, I have had to change the names of some of the styles
(eg. HermesTitle instead of Title). Is there a cleaner way to diseable the
\maketitle generation.

Hello, The problem in 1.3.0pre2 when used with Qt has not been solved in the pre-realease 3. My locale variable is correctely set but I can type ¤ (euro) and ½ (oe) in the minibuffer, but I cannot type them in the text. Regards --Nabil Hathout

Why do you have no tempdir? I did the test twice, once as root and once as a user and the behavior is the same in both cases. when I disable the tempdir, lyx says "No information for converting from to EPS". I usually disable tempdir because I feel more safe when I have a latex and a dvi file in the directory, in addition to the lyx file. More over, when using packages as bibtopic, it is more convenient to keep all the .bbl .blg stuff from one session the next. --Nabil

when I insert a postscript figure in a document, lyx 1.2.0 says that it cannot
convert ps to eps. This makes many of my lyx 1.1.6 documents not usable with
lyx 1.2.0.
a second compatibility problem comes from the fact that lyx 1.2.0 inserts the
\usepackage{babel} after the preamble. So I have to add to all my lyx 1.1.6
French documents the previous command in the preamble in order to set some
frenchb variables.

gb4e is a set of macros for typesetting linguistic examples. I thing the
solution you suggests will change all \item commands in \ex, including the ones
in the itemize, enumerate... In fact, I would like that to replace \item
commands by \ex only inside exe environment (exe eing in fact a list
environment). It is used as follows :

Hello, I have moved recently to 1.1.6fix1 and I have got a problem to keep using some of my key bindings. For instance I use M-d to delete the word forword or M-S-i to toggle italic. In the new GUI these key sequences call the menus Document and Insert. I switched them off by removing the "|I" and "|D" ~/.lyx/ui/defaults, but then I have lost M-i f that inserts footnotes. How can I keep both (i.e. give key bindings precedence over GUI) ? Thank you, --Nabil

I use very often 2 commands from the lingmacros package : \enumsentence and
\eenumsentence. The syntax of the first is :
\enumemsentence{ \label{toto} Example }
writing a layout entry for it is straightforward. The syntax of the second one
is :
\eenumsentence{ \label{titi}
\item \label{titi1} Example1
\item \label{titi2} Example2
\item \label{titi3} Example3
}
So it is a mix of list and command. How could I write a layout for it ?

Hello,
I am trying to make a layout for the lettre.cls written by Denis Mégevaud. I
have had no problem for the "lettre" TextClass but I am having one whith the
"telefax" one, namely that they must start with \telefax{XXX}{YYY} where XXX is
the fax number and YYY is the recepiender name and I have not found any "style"
that could generate this kind of structure. Is this acheivable or is it
necessary to use a dialog box (as for the citation insertions) ?
There might be another solution, that is to modify the lettre class, but then
the layout will be dependant of this modification.

Hello, I am writing a report made of separate chapter files and I am using minitoc to insert in each chapter its (mini)toc. The problem is that I have the first chapter minitoc inserted in all of them. Every thing is ok when the chapters are compiled individually. Did I miss something? The problem you noticed in latex2rtf comes from the fact that this
program only translates entire latex files (the file name must be
given in the command line). It cannot be invoqued in a pipe or with a
redirection of the latex file to the standard input.

Hello, You are right. In fact the problems comes from the lyxrc (I now can export in ps format ; \print_adapt_output is now to false). File->ViewPostscript works fine (it launches gv on (/var/tmp/lyx_tmp206aaa/lyx_bufrtmp206aaa)/cliques.ps_tmp). Hello, I was using lyx 1.0.3 (debian package) for some time. I have just tried to export a lyx document in postscript. It used to work on 1.0.0 but this time it failed. I then moved to 1.0.4 but the exportation did not work either. It does work in dvi. I then have to run dvips by hand. Is it a bug, or do I have to set some parameters in my lyxrc ? Tanks to Jean-Pierre for the solution he gave me. Note that since it
is not possible to insert directly 8bits characters in math mode, one
have to use \acute, \grave... commands if one wants to use accentuated
characters (to get é you have to type "\acute e"). See Jean-Pierre's

I inserted a math display box, then "\mbox" then "{" (LyX inserted the closing
"}"), then "\textrm" then "{" (automatic insertion of "}") then I
typed some characters. I saved the file and spaces where inserted
between \textrm and the accolade. This extra space makes LyX unable
to read properly the formula.
The solution is to edit the LyX file and delete the extra space. The
formula is then read and written correctly.

Hello, I am using LyX for writing in French and in French typography, guillemets have to be preceded and followed by a small blank. The size and the protection of the blank is handled by B. Gaule's French package. How ever, I have to insert these blanks each time I insert a double quote. Is there in LyX a parameter that would do that for me ? (ie insert "« " instead of "«") regards, --Nabil
