Pb with lists
Hello, I think I have found a bug with lists+minipages. Use this sample lyx file under lyx-1.1.6fix4. Go to the first item, open the paragraph pop up and check minipage, set the width to 50%. When you do a view ps, it works fine. Do a undo. Try to view ps and latex gives a lot of error. To correct the file, you must go to the second item of the list, open the paragraph popup and uncheck minipage. Your sincerely, Yann COLLETTE #LyX 1.1 created this file. Lyx-1.2.0 failled to export to ps
Hello, I've got a problem with lyx-1.2.0. I've got a big document (270 pages) which is opened without problems with lyx-1.1.6fix4 and is exported without problems with lyx-1.1.6fix4. When I tried lyx-1.2.0 (I have removed the .lyx directory), this file is opened without problems (just a scrolling problem while figures are rendered by lyx). But, when I tried to export my document to ps, latex generated 58 errors. The first one is related to this command: \renewcommand{\ALG@name}{algorithme} I really don't know where these problems come from. Your sincerely, YC

Lyx 1.2.0 problem
Hello, I built lyx-1.2.0 under mandrake 8.2 (with xforms-0.88). It was perfect. The figure rendering was nice, everything's OK. But, while I was scrolling through the document, at some points, the scrolling jump immediatly at the beginning of the document. I start lyx in debug mode (with all the flags) and, in the debug list, I can see the scroll actions and, just before the jump at the top of the document, I can see a converter starting to convert a figure. This problem is reproductible and it happens also when all figures are converted (indeed, some figure are re-converted). Your sincerely, Yann COLLETTE

Re: Lyx-1.2.0rc1
Find in the Figure dialogbox (click the figure) -- LyX View (translated from German version) -- Scale radio button [put the size in percent here] Yes but in lyx-1.1.6fix4 we can set the size of the figure relatively to the width of the page and/or relatively to the height of the page. I use to tune the width of my figures because it's easier for me to predict the shape of the page like this. In lyx-1.2.0rc1, I just can increase or reduce the size of the figure by a certain factor. In LaTeX size just click LyX size... I've also a problem with the quality of the figure rendered inside lyx. The figure quality is very poor. Maybe it comes from the converter but, in lyx-1.1.6fix4, the quality of the figure was fine. How can I improve the quality of the figure ? it's depended on xforms and ImageMagick, which are installed in your system. There are many way to solve this problem (as discussed few weeks ago). 1. update your ImageMagick (the best way) 2. edit lyxrc in directory .lyx/ by adding -depth -8 e.g. \converter gif xpm convert -depth 8 GIF:$$i XPM:$$o 3. edit lyxrc in such directory by replacing XPM to PPM e.g. \converter gif ppm convert GIF:$$i PPM:$$o Thanks for these advices. Navigate problem
Hello, I've got a problem with the navigate menu. I've got a very long document (270 pages) and, in some chapters, I remove from the toc some sections because they are not informative. I add just after the chapter title the following command: \addtocontents{toc}{\protect\setcounter{tocdepth}{1}} So as to just have the sections in the toc. The navigate menu doesn't like this. It doesn't show the sections of the chapter and, we I select the chapter in the navigate menu, lyx doesn't go to the chapter content. I use lyx-1.1.6fix4. Your sincerely, Yann COLLETTE

Hello, I've just tried lyx-1.2.0rc1. It looks very fine. It works fine too but, something is missing in the figure dialog: I can't set the width or the height of an image relatively to the size of the page. I use copy paste of a right quote as a workaround. Your sincerely, Yann COLLETTE

I am Yann using lyx-1.1.6fix3 with tetex-1.0.?. Are you using a french style? They tend to redefine bullets behind one's back. Look for a macro to stop list redefinitions. JMarc Yann Yes, I am using a french style. Where can I find this macro ? I Yann the french babel class, in the article class ? Looking at the docs, I would try to add \bbl@nonfrenchitems in the preamble. JMarc - Hello, It doesn't work. Finally, in find the doc and I see they recommand to use \FrenchItemizeSpacingfalse This command works but not for the first level of item. It tried french language and frenchb. Nothing about this in the doc. I will ask about this on the usenet tex mailing list. Thanks for your help. YC

Math problem
Hello, I've inserted a formula in a 2X2 tabular. For example: +---+-+ | A | A | +---+-+ | A | mathform| +---+-+ with mathform = (in math mode) \displaystyle{1/(1+x)} If I do I view postscript, everything is fine. I save the file, close it and reopen it. Now, mathform = (in math mode) {1/(1+x)}. The displaystyle command has disappeared. I think it's a bug Your sincerely, Yann COLLETTE

index problem
Hello, I tried to create an index and I find a little problem with lyx-1.1.6fix3. At the end of the document, I add insert index and then, do an export to postscript. Latex prints some errors due to latex (no \printindex command defined). It appears that a \usepackage{makeidx} is missing in the preamble. If I add this \usepackage{makeidx}, it works fine. I think you should add this \usepackage when we do an insert index. Yann COLLETTE
Citation
Hello, It's just for a proposition. I've got some citation reference in my document and now, I need to remove some of the citation references. The problem is that I must locate the citation reference manually and, my document is huge. So I propose a popup dialog for citation reference that allows to navigate through the citation reference in the document (like the search and replace dialog). The second thing is that the behavior of the lyx citation environment is very anoying. When you click on the text describing the citation reference, a dialog pops up. I think this dialog should pop up just when you click on the key of the citation reference and not on the text. Your sincerely, Yann COLLETTE

Re: No c-return in longtable
Open the Table dialog by right licking on your table, Set the width of your column and then check Minipage. Yann COLLETTE Hey all, I am using Lyx-1.1.6fix 3 and have the Problem that it is not possible to insert a c-return (linebreak) in lyx in a longtable oder another table. The result is, that the dimension of my table is to large and the table size is larger than the text size in Lyx (not in Latex of course, it's a Lyx problem) Has anyone an idea? Thank's Thorsten -- Th. Grohte Julius-Vogel-Straße 36 44149 Dortmund Tel.: 0231-5310521

Exceptions
Hello, Why don't we find some help on the configure option --without-exceptions when we do a configure --help ? I encountered a problem with exceptions while trying to compile lyx-1.1.6fix3 on solaris-2.6. I use --without-exceptions to remove the problem and I had to manually remove an #include stdexcept in boost/boost/array.hpp or cpp (don't remember) line 20. Your sincerely, YC

hello, I just come from M. Voss website. I want to draw two bold horizontal lines in a table: The first one is the first top line of the table The second one is the last bottom line of the table I use the following latex commands: \toprule[2pt] and \bottomrule[2pt]. It nearly works for the top line (I will explain later what is the problem) but it doesn't work for the last line. I tried to put the latex command in the last cell, out of the table but it doesn't work. For the first line, the bold line is drawn as I wanted but the connections between the horizontal line and the vertical lines are not correct. What can I do to have connected lines. YC

Ps Export pb
Hello, Sorry for the delay in the answer but, I've found the problem. In my document, I have a tabular (1 column and 3 rows) and in the first cell, I have copied an other tabular(1 column and 3 rows). It works fine within Lyx (and without any warnings). But, when I try to export to ps, the latex process doesn't want to stop because of a pb with this tabular. If I remove this ugly construction, it works fine. Your sincerely, YC

Pb: Export to ps
Hello, I've got a problem with lyx-1.1.6fix{1,2}. When I try to export a file to ps, lyx freeze and the only solution I've got to leave lyx is to kill it. I launch lyx with the 65536 dbg code, here's the last line: lyx header finished preamble finished, now the body. Finished making latex file. Converting from latex to dvi Running latex Dependency file does not exist Found file: Synthese.tex Tmpdir TeX file: Synthese.tex When I go to the lyx temp dir, I can see a .dvi file. I can convert it to ps and, when I visualize it, the TOC is not there and, all references (cross references and citation) are missing. There's no errors during to latex compilation. If I export the lyx file to latex and launch latex manually, the file is correctly translated to dvi and, after a dvips, to ps. If I try to export a file without any figure to ps within lyx, it works. After some manipulations, I think the problem is due to: - figures or/and - cross references. What can I do ? Yann COLLETTE
Re: Pb: Export to ps

Meta Key
Hello, I've a problem with the Meta key. I use an Unix Emulator (Exceed) and a french keyboard. For this keyboard, the meta key is binded to the escape key (it works fine under xemacs). Under Lyx, I use the emacs binding (which redefine the meta key as the escape key). It works fine (I can insert an equation using Esc-m m). But when I am under math editor, if I want to insert an exponent (Esc-m e) or an index (Esc-m i), when I press the Esc key, I leave the math editor. So, I think the binding (Meta = Esc) is not working under the math editor. How can I do to have the meta binding working correctly under the math editor ? Your sincerely, Yann COLLETTE

Unfortunately, the locking insets (like math) explicitely exit on escape (which is a very bad idea IMO). You can try to remove this "feature" by commenting out the following code (around line 176 if src/lyxfunc.C): if (owner-view()-available()) { // this function should be used always [asierra060396] UpdatableInset * tli = owner-view()-theLockingInset(); if (tli (keysym == XK_Escape)) { if (tli == tli-GetLockingInset()) { owner-view()-unlockInset(tli); owner-view()-text-CursorRight(owner-view()); moveCursorUpdate(false); owner-showState(); } else { tli-UnlockInsetInInset(owner-view(), tli-GetLockingInset(),tr ue); } //return 0; return FL_PREEMPT; } } JMarc
Meta Key
Hello again, How can I bind the right control, left control or alt key to the Meta key in a bind file. I've tried: \bind "Alt""Meta-prefix" but lyx doesn't recognize the Alt symbol. YC
Meta Key
Hello, Finally, I solved the problem. Under Exceed, the Alt key is defined as a system key. When you press the Alt key a first time, the focus swap from X to windows and when you press the Alt key for the second time, the focus swap from windows to X. In the configuration menu, you can change this behavior. I select for the Alt Key: "To X". So, now when I press the Alt key, the focus doesn't change and the Alt key behave correctly in Lyx.
