RE: only numbers are showing up
No just delete the favorites contacts from the favorites contacts and add them back! Also before you do this from any home page bring up the app switcher and take all apps out of it and reboot the device ! I do this first before deleting your favorites contacts and if this don't work then delete the favorites contacts from your favorites contacts and add them back to your favorites. If I need to read a PDF I use the Mac. I set up a boot camp partition but, if starting again from scratch, I would not now bother as fusion is a far better solution , including the capacity to install and set up Windows without sighted help. Once you get used to it file management is far easier on the Mac. There are differences but whenever I am in Windows I find myself wanting to use column view . Downloading files is very efficient and fast on the Mac in my experience but again it is completely different from Windows and you will need to learn different techniques if you want to monitor downloads. The main problem with picking up the Mac is that there are lots of information out there which is useful for visually impaired people but it tends not to be centralised as much as for the commercial Windows screen readers. Re: Phone Amego accessibility?
Thanks to a free trial, I can report that the short answer to my question is that this app appears to be inaccessible. When launched, it does not appear in the dock or present a menu, and it disappeared when ever I moved focus away. I was able to relaunch Phone Amego by pointing to it and pressing command-downarrow. It seemed possible to configure various devices, however I closed all Windows, and now when I attempt to launch, nothing happens. If I use vo-rightArrow I hear the spoken message stating: phone amego has no windows. I restarted without reopening windows, but this accomplished nothing. So the bottom line is that it is possible to configure PhoneAmego once, but I suspect they used the technique of adding a pulldown menu to which the voiceOver authors have determined does not need to be read by VI customers. One thing to be said for competing screen readers Best regards. I can get Skype to use both the mick as well as the headphones; the problem is that, the volume control on the headset controls the default Mac volume but does not alter the sound level of Skype. Is there a way around this? Re: any good quiz making apps out there?
Hi Courtney, The one I've played with is an IOS app called Adaptive Trivia by Suchale which is available at the US store at least. The full version is $0.99, but they have a scaled down version that is free of charge. Its perfectly accessible, though IMHO, voiceOver users need to read and think fast. Have fun.
