AirPlay

2012-05-24 Thread Mrs. Lynnette Annabel Smith
Hello everybody

I've just bought Gordon and I an airplay-enabled Panasonic desktop audio system
which I'm hoping we can use to play audio on our iPhone and third generation
iPod Touch. Just to confirm, what steps are necessary to set up an airplay
device on the iOS end?

Thank you.

Re: New game for the Iphone.

2012-05-24 Thread Amber H
Can I ask if you said it was free, why did you then say it costed 1.99? I'm not
writing to complain about price; I'm asking a question because I'm slightly
confused and suspect someone else might be also.

Thanks,

Amber

Begging your pardon, the original message says the word free, as in f r e e,
try reading by character please. Of course it's not a stretch to know that she
meant 3 d as apposed to free d, but yes the person's question was correct it
does have the word free not t h r e e or the number 3.
You can read below or go back and check it with your trash if you believe I am
intentionally editing. But left the relevant parts below since we shouldn't be
leaving all previous string in the replies to the list.

I understand by playing with Airfoil and its Speaker application that
both devices need to be connected to the same wifi network before they
can be seen by music and other audio applications. So say in the music
app you select one or more tracks, double tap the airplay button, then
double tap the option corresponding to your Airplay device.

Hi Chris

OK, I'm hoping that we can do this without AirFoil now, although if need be I
do have a license for it. I guess that the first thing I need to do is break
my usual number 1 golden rule, consult the user guide for the Panasonic system
we just bought! ;-)

Thanks for your input.

I will not say anymore about it after this, but I just want to apologize if my
message came across as an accusation or anything. I truly was confused. It
looked to me like it was free but then it was 1.99, and I didn't understand,
like if there were 2 versions like free and paid or something. So I only wanted
some clarification. I love games and will be checking it out, and am
appreciative of the information on the game.

Re: AirPlay

2012-05-24 Thread Gordon Smith
Hi Sarah

I'll have to look at this because my understanding is that iOS5.1.1 now
supports Airplay devices natively. So, for instance, we can set up our
Panasonic device and it should appear in the AirPlay list. I could, of course,
be totally wrong as I've never paid much attention to AirPlay until now. But
given the fact that we have an AppleTV as well, maybe it's time I did.

transmit audio wirelessly that way.

As long as you have compatible devices. There are a lot of them now which

Re: AirPlay

2012-05-24 Thread Gordon Smith
Hi Geoff

Yes, please don't misunderstand me. I'm sure there are scenarios where AirFoil
will be of great help. I'm not familiar enough with Airplay as a whole to
comment in detail. The only thing I can say is that it works. :)

As for the review, we think it would be better posted to our sister group.
However, I'll post a link when I get it done. Lynne is working on another
project at the moment, as am I. So the review may have to wait a while. But
the more I play with this machine, the more I like it.

I'll keep you advised if I discover anything else. But the iPod and iPhone
dock is truly superb. The LCD display panel slides off to the side of the
machine which exposes the dock. My iPhone 4S fits perfectly in the dock and,
when you press the button to slide the display back into the centre of the
machine, the dock moves backward, taking your iOS device with it, and then it's
hidden by the display. You can since the iOS device's contents so that all of
the info is displayed on your main screen, and you can control the device fully
by way of a remote control or top-mounted buttons. The iOS device is really
well supported. The Panasonic picks up your bookmarks in, for instance, audio
books and lets you start playing from there if you wish. There are so many
other things I haven't yet discovered. But hey, I'm off to bed now so I'd
better stop there. :)

find my iPhone

2012-05-24 Thread Glenn
Hi,
I just installed a free app on my iPhone called find my iPhone.
I thought that I would use iTunes to find it if it got lost, but I have
found nothing in iTunes about locating the phone.
I can set off the find - alarm on the iPhone, but how I would do this if my
phone was lost is unclear.
Hope someone knows about this app.
It is a free Apple app in the app store.
Glenn

Re: find my iPhone

2012-05-24 Thread Sarah Alawami
If you have ios 5.0 and higher you can use iCloud to do the same thing. Just
turn on find my iPhone in iCloud under settings, icloud and use
http://icloud.com to have someone look at where the phoen is and such.
