Why doesn't my Macbook accept a serial key

2012-10-06 Thread trevor
This is the first time this has happened,
I have tried to install a multi track recording program called dimension pro
and for some reason, I can't get my mac to accept the serial key.
When I have put the key in and click on OK, it brings up another window with an
OK button and something that just says button.
I have tried both and I am sent back to the enter your serial key window.
I checked on the Cakewalk site where the software came from and they
recommended repairing disc permissions, which I did and still no luck.
I hope I am wrong but, I think it is probably something I will have to get a
sighted person to look at.

Thanks,
Trevor

Re: Why doesn't my Macbook accept a serial key

2012-10-06 Thread Mrs. Lynnette Annabel Smith
Hello Trevor

A couple of suggestions here. Firstly, make sure that there are no blank spaces
at the end of the line if you are pasting your serial number via the clipboard.
This sometimes happens when you import the key via a text editor such ass
TextEdit. Some software expects the last character of your serial number to be
the last character on a line and, if a space is present it interprets that as
an illegal character.

Hello Trevor,

Some fields for keys will not accept copy & paste. Is this what you did or did
you type in the key? Alternatively, sometimes you have to tab to a field for it
to accept input.

This is all probably useless but it's all I could think of.

Cheers,

Anne

Hello Anne,
That is the one thing I haven't tried yet because,
when I try to copy the serial key from the website where it is, I end up
selecting the whole page.
I know I should know how to select one line of text, I'll have to look it up.

TrevorThanks for all your help.

Try hitting vo shift c to copy the last frase spoken to the clip board and then
pasting it in to the form. After you get it successfully registered, try
copying the thing to a file where you keep all of your keys and back it up to
some ware.

Be blessed.

Re: Why doesn't my Macbook accept a serial key

2012-10-06 Thread trevor
Thanks so much Sarah.
That is a very useful short cut but, it still didn't get me any further.
I think I will have to get someone to take a look at the screen and ask what it
says.
Mind you, one thing that is suggested on the cakewalk site is to run as admin.

Itunes importing disks.

2012-10-06 Thread Ian McNamara
Hi all, don't know if anyone can help. I am importing some cd's but I want to
make it in to one file. so rather than each disk having separate tracks I just
want it as one big MP3 file for each disk. Can anyone tell me how to do this as
I can't find it in the import settings. I thought there was a Join tracks
option but can't find it.

thanks very much.

Re: Itunes importing disks.

2012-10-06 Thread Sarah Alawami
There is, but I also cannot get that to work. what I would do if you have it is
use amadeus to join the files in to 1 big one and then tag it appropriately
with artist, title, etc. or use join together. that will create an m4a but you
can then use iTunes to convert it to mp3 or xld can do it for you.

Good luck.

Huh? that is only for another platform. I don't think you can do that on mac.

Hi there!
I do not know if this will help, but I have found that sometimes on a text
input field I have to bring the mouse with VO+shift+f5 then do a mouse click
with VO+shift+space before I can type into that field so might be worth a shot!

Re: Itunes importing disks.

2012-10-06 Thread Esther
Hi Ian,

If you want to join tracks on your CD when importing, you'll find the option
under the "Advanced" menu on the iTunes menu bar. I'll assume you have already
set up your importing settings under iTunes preferences, so that your format is
MP3 instead of the AAC format that comes up as a default. (For other list
members reading this post, changing the default format of imported CD tracks is
done from the "General" tab of iTunes preferences. Bring up preferences with
Command-comma, then on the "General" tab that comes up by default, navigate to
the section for "When you insert a "CD" and press the "Import Settings…" button
to get a dialog window to select your options for encoding format and bit rate
or quality.)

Once you've inserted your CD you'll want to click on tracks listed in the songs
table for the CD and use Command-A to select all. In principle you could join
subsets of contiguous tracks when importing with the "Join CD Tracks" option,
so in an audio book CD with short stories I could select and join tracks that
belonged to the same story by selecting and highlighting the first track of a
story by clicking with VO-Shift-Space, then pressing on the Shift key and
arrowing down to the last track of the story. The "Join CD Tracks" option in
the "Advanced" menu of the menu bar stays dimmed if there are no tracks
selected for joining. So after you have selected your CD tracks for joining,
use VO-M or Control-F2 to move to the iTunes menu bar and press "a" to navigate
to the "Advanced" menu. Arrow down and press "j" to move to the "Join CD
tracks" option and press "return". Then proceed to import your CD as usual.

HTH. I'm giving instructions from memory, since I'm using a MacBook Air with no
CD drive at present. Jane can probably tell if I've made a mistake in these
instructions, since she frequently imports audiobooks using the "Join CD
Tracks" option in iTunes.

Cheers,

Esther

Re: Virtual CD-RW for Mac

2012-10-06 Thread Travis Siegel
Well, I was puzzled. All file systems are created equal under unix.
I've been using unix variants since 1992, and unix as a whole doesn't
care where the file system is, on hd, across the world, or in the
next room. That's why I was wondering why this program was necessary.
I've since done some digging, and it appears OSX does make a
distinction of some sort. Since this program uses a kernel extension
to solve the problem, I'm guessing it has to do with the way block
devices are presented to the os. I'm still convinced it's possible
to get around it without resorting to extra programs, but apparently,
if anyone has figured it out, they're keeping it quiet. :)

So, sorry for the trouble.
I was honestly puzzled why the need of such a program existed, but I
see now it actually is, at least until someone figures out how to
solve the problem without resorting to kernel extensions.

Oh so the join tracks does not work if you have regular tracks to join? such as
tracks you imported that you want to such as a 3 movement piece?

Take care.

In search of a Sirius/XM solution.

2012-10-06 Thread Geoff Waaler
Greetings yy'all,

Sadly, Pulsar is now a tool of the past. Though this Rogue Amoeba page implies
that US accounts are still functioning for the present, I am no longer able to
play XM content via Pulsar.

Musicdoc still works, however, they have not added the sports play-by-play
channels. My question, therefore is: what are people now using? Last I knew,
the Sirius/XM IOS app was inaccessible, as is their on-line player which
appears to be using exclusively flash with none of the elements labeled in a
manner such that a screen reader can read it.

TIA for any ideas, or perhaps the IOS app has improved?

Geoff

Re: 1Password for IOS Question

2012-10-06 Thread Damashe Thomas
The 1password pro app is a universal app, meaning it works natively on the
iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. The 1password app is going to be native to the
device you are viewing the appstore on. So if you are on an iPad, the
1password app you see in the appstore is an iPad only. If you have both an
iPad and iPhone or iPod touch you want to run the app on, the pro app is the
better deal.

Hope this helped
