Re: Arrowing through the artists table in iTunes issue
David just to say you can in fact re-download all your purchased music. In iTunes you can find them in the music library so long as you have iTunes in the cloud, free, enabled. You can also re-download music onto the phone simply by going into the music app. If nothing is showing go to settings iTunes and App Stores and turn on music next to the show all heading. So it can be done for sure. E-mail Facebook and iMessage christopher...@gmail.com On 28/10/2013 22:28, David Griffith wrote: That is correct. Generally though I still avoid using iTunes whenever possible. The only real use I have for iTunes is that I use it to rip non Amazon CDs and that means they automatically make their way onto my phone. I also use it to buy apps for the phone. Apart from that I am increasingly using Amazon Cloud Player to organise and play music on my iPhone. With the Amazon autorip feature all the past and present CDs I have ever bought from Amazon are instantly available for playing on my iPhone without synching. Any Mp3 music I purchase from Amazon is also immediately available for download on the iPhone with again none of the synching nonsense itunes insists on. I can also download the music I purchase onto my Mac and any authorised PC I am using. Again in marked contrast to iTunes and the restricted Apple way of doing things. I purchased music from iTunes and downloaded it onto a laptop that has since died, yet I can find no way of re-downloading it as iTunes simply reports I have downloaded it already. Presumably Apple are trying to make me fork out for iTunes Match. The Amazon Cloud Player can also play all of the iTunes transferred Music on your phone. All this means that I rarely use iTunes for getting or playing music and instead use Amazon as it is so much simpler. The main downside is that you cannot access music using Siri on the Amazon Cloud Player. I know I should, according to my friends, be boycotting Amazon for Tax avoidance in the UK but that is a matter for discussion elsewhere. Impractical terms blind users often do not have the same luxury of choice as sighted consumers and certainly I am not aware of any accessible service which offer the options and ease of use that Amazon now does. So my advice is avoid iTunes. Use VLC for playing Music and Amazon Cloud Player for getting music on your phone and computers. I normally save this m3u playlist file within the same folder that the music is in. After that you simply have to open the m3u file within Finder and VLC will play all the music in that folder. It is just all a lot more straightforward than iTunes. Sound recording, music, vocal tracks
Hi all This is probably going to sound a bit of a strange question, but here goes anyway. I've been asked to work with a young lady who wants to do some vocali for the jingles on our new comamunity radio station which we are opening up for the people of our town on 5 Nevember. If she prepares a vocal track, is there any way we can use that track with a higher pitch so that we can create a vocal harmony mix? I'm sure you know the kind of thing I'm talking about, it is something you hear a lot of in professionally recorded muksic. Unfortunately, I don't have access to ProTools yet, as it is out of our price range just at the moment. We do, however, have access to a number of other audio editors/recording tools such as Peak Express, NCH Software WavePad, Amadeus Pro and quite a few others. I also have access to GarageBand, of course, and I'd really like to get into using that because I'd love to be able to use virtual instruments with my M Audio keyboard. But unfortunately, I don't consider myself nearly qualified enough to attempt a mission-critical recording sing GarageBand at this point in time. I very much welcome advice and opinion either on or off list. Of course, I know that the obvious answer here would be either to get hold of a copy of ProTools, or else let somebody else do this work. But neither is an option just now. So it's a matter of making do with what we've got. Re: Sound recording, music, vocal tracks
Depending on the key and chord structor, you might not to be able to pull it off. You need to lets say invert to a 1/6 cord or a 4/3 7th cord, the sortware even if you raise the pitch of the track is not going to help as you have to get it in to thirds or 4ths or 5ths or what not. If the enversion of the chord changes you are goingto be in trouble. This is why record all of my tracks sepratly and I can know the chord structor of the melody and wor from there. I realise that this did not answer your question but Im just letting you know what trouble you could run in to. I have a theory ear and i listen to everything from that view point lol!c On Oct 29, 2013, at 8:29, Gordon Smith gor...@mac-access.net wrote: Hi all This is probably going to sound a bit of a strange question, but here goes anyway. Re: pages on mac
Hello Doug, The new `pages for Mac is indeed much simpler to use but, unfortunately, it’s also a much simplified application with many functions missing that used to be there. As long as you don’t want to use merge fields, have a choice in the date format or want a quick way of setting paragraph styles and knowing which style is set, Pages works fine. Personally, I’m not at all happy about the new Pages. Re: pages on mac
While I acknowledge the limitations Ann mentions are important to keep in mind, I can’t bring myself to be unhappy with the new Pages. It’s entirely possible that mail merge fields and date formatting will be reinstated in a future update. I’m not as concerned about the style issue, as I believe techniques still exist for being aware of which style is set, and I don’t need to worry about them in general as much as some people might.e I find the increased accessibility in most all other areas quite compelling, myself. I must emphasize that if you don’t find a feature you want in the program, feedback should be provided to Apple or their accessibility team directly. Best, Zack. Hi Zach, I'm trying to upgrade iWorks as I'm sending this response. My question now is: how can I find out the percentage of the update? Re: Sound recording, music, vocal tracks
There are certainly hardware and software solutions but as mentioned you can't just drop third harmonies over a melody and have it all stay consonant with the chord progression. If there is just vocals you can use a harmoniser but with music involved the harmonising has to be created with the chords in mind or perhaps sampling the vocal but then the harmonised samples have to be time stretched or shrunk. Doing multiple vocal tracks and applying auto tune where required would be the best bet. Danny. Re: Sound recording, music, vocal tracks
Quite bluntly, The obvious thing to do actually wouldn't be to get ProTools, but would be to get someone who could sing correctly in the range needed for the harmoney part and do it naturally. Otherwise, it's gonna sound terrible! Yes, you can raise the pitch, but then you look at two problems. Firstly, the person will either 1, sound all chipmunk like, or 2, they will sound all chipmunk like, plus if you force it to only adjust the pitch, not the speed, then you'll introduce really weird sounding artifacts. coming from me being a professional sound engineer who does this for a living, trust me, just to do pitch correction, is probably not what you're looking for here. It does have it's time and place, yes, and without hearing the raw vocal, it's hard to say, but I just can't see that being the best way to work through this. Chris. Keep in mind though, a yamaha effects unit is only as good as the person who configures it, same goes with other plugs. Not only this, but most of those things are going to be used more as a vo-coder. Not as something that keeps the original human sound of the voice. It just sounds extremely artificial. Trust me. Same here. I have my degree in business of music and technology and we learned a lot about this digital editing stuff. It is best to have them sing all the harmonies especially when you are dealing with cord inversions. Or find other voices to sing them. Wink. Chris. MainStage V3 and accessibility.
Hi Folks: Is there any accessibility improvements in MainStage V3. I have a bit of a strange situation here; I purchased MainStage 2.2 some time ago but the upgrade to V3 is not available in the Canadian store. Is there a way to obtain the upgrade? Pages
Sent from Dane's iPhone +613400494862 I'e been using both Pages on the Mac and the latest virsion for IOS which installed itself onto my IOS devices earlier on in the week. I've just created a Shopping List with Pages, got a friend coming tomorrow so I sent the list to her using the Share option in Pages and from there I selected the eMail facility. I like the way the user can select what format the document should be sent in as an attachment to the eMail, I chose PDF which the receiver of the eMail shouldn't - in theory at least - have trouble dealing with on her computer or whatever device she uses. I was a little disappointed that a Copy option wasn't available in as part of the Share options which would allow the copying of the document contents and pasting into the body of an eMail, perhaps htere's a good reason for such an option not existing. Anyway full marks for the seemingly seamless integration of documents between Pages on IOS and Mac thanks to the iCloud, makes things so much easier when it all works, never could get this working before for some reason. --- Mac Access At Mac Access Dot Net --- To reply to this post, please address your message to mac-access@mac-access.net You can find an archive of all messages postedto the Mac-Access forum at either the list's own dedicated web archive: http://mail.tft-bbs.co.uk/pipermail/mac-access/index.html or at the public Mail Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-access@mac-access.net/.
