[Mac-Access]: Disabling preview pane in mac mail

2015-06-06 Thread Frank Ventura
Hi all, can anyone remind me how to turn off the message preview in Mac mail,
here is what I have tried without success:
Find the splitter between the message table and preview and interact
bring it down to zero
use vo command f5 to move the mouse pointer
tap the track pad

Any help would be appreciated
Frank

Try holding down the mouse button (trackpad in your case) while powering up the

Subject: Can't eject Cd

I got a Cd drive for my MacBook Air a few days ago. I'm in the process of
putting all my Cd's on it. There's a Cd in the drive now. When I do the eject
command, nothing happens. I hear the drive make noise but the Cd doesn't pop
out. There isn't a physical eject button on the drive itself, so how do I get
the Cd out?

Not able to disable the preview pane on a new iMac

2014-05-03 Thread Frank Ventura
Hi all, I am setting up a new iMac with the latest OS update. I am trying to
disable the preview pane in Mac mail. On other Macs I have followed the
procedure below and it worked. For some reason I can't get it to work on this
computer. What am I doing wrong. Here are the steps I follow:
Find the splitter between the mailbox and preview pane
Route mouse pointer with VO COMMAND f5
Double click the physical mouse
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

Hello Frank,

FN-Up Arrow or down arrow is purely visual and does not work for VO users. It
does not move the insertion point, mouse pointer or VO cursor. That's why we
have to use the VO command VO-FN-Up or Down Arrow.

Cheers,

Anne

Lets not forget about the venerable old Airport Express. It will turn any audio

Yes, for example if you have a speaker called "kitchen" in your kitchen, you
would tap the airplay button on the IPad and select the kitchen link and tap.

2012-05-26 Thread Frank Ventura
Pushing audio from an IOS device to an AIr Play compatible device has been
supported for quite some time. However, I believe that if you want to do it the
oother way, that is push audio from an airplay device to an IOS device the
Airfoil Speakers app still needs to be installed on the IOS device.

Best way to do that is syncronize the music on your IOS device with ITunes on
the PC and then turn on ITunes match and have ITunes match the music with

Not sure what you mean by exchange accounts, but I have 15 gmail
addresses running in Apple Mail right now, and the amount of them
doesn't seem to be a problem. A lot of them are dedicated so specific
groups, and I have rules which then shunt mail from those accounts into
boxes on my Mac. Then I don't clutter up my main in-box, and can pick
and choose my priority of reading groups mail. All of these are gmail
though, don't know about other services.

Hi Everyone,

While using my iPod Touch the other night, I inadvertently double tapped
on something I should't have, and no wwhen I'm using headphones, I have
no sound! VoiceOver is working fine when my headphones aren't plugged
in. I can't seem to find a way to reverse the situation, and because
speech is on otherwise, I didn't realize I still had the problem until I
tried to use my headphones again this morning. I will want to be able
to use my headphones this weekend, and I'm hoping someone can tell me
how to fix the problem. I went into settings, but didn't find the
answer there, but that's probably because I'm not sure what to look for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much in advance, and
very Happy Holidays to all!

What do you mean, it's not accessible? I use it all the time, it works fine
just like regular OSX. What part do you find inaccessible?

Lion Server is a total nightmare in comparison to Snow Leopard Server. I guess
that's why Apple opted for more close integration. I think that was a huge
mistake. But inaccessible? No, definitely not!

I don't for a second dispute the fact that you're having problems. But can you
be more specific

I won't go on about databases and Screen Readers here as I'd be going
off topic for the list so if you want more explanation then write me
privately but I will say this, Screen Reader users - whether that be
Windows or Mac - are deprived of good accessible and easy to use
database software, I've been using Bento for the last 2 versions and
like you I love the software because - well in my opinion at least - its
exactly my idea of what a database should be and I've been programming
with database languages/applications for over 20 years.

The nearest thing Windows users have in my view is something called "Ask
Sam".

Under the LINUX OS there are several choices as is the case with IOS,
Bento is the obvious example here but there's another nice database app
called I Database for Ipad and Iphone.

almost any application. A patch was recently released to add Lion
compatibility and it seems to be working fine so far.

version which I'm looking forward to testing.

Hi Frank!
I'm not sure but there is a share button in system prefs and one of the
options is cd's and dvd's but this might be for other computers to use
your stuff!
Also [if you haven't already] check the parental control to see if that
is stopping you!
After that then I'm of no further use! :] And maybe someone else might
be able too!
All the best!

Hi Frank!
You could see if anything needs turning on or even off in the sharing
section of Itunes prefs!
Open prefs command+comma then go to tool bar and interact then scroll
over to the share button and vo+space then stop interacting!
Then you can go through all the options to see if and what you might
need to change!
Of course you'll need to click the lock to make changes and again to
prevent further changes!
Then go to the OK button vo+space on that and you should be done!
Also you might need to look in sharing in system prefs to see if
anything needs doing there!

Problems creating a home share in ITunes using Voice Over

Hello all, I have an older Mac Mini (2.o ghz core2duo and 1 GB of RAM)
running the last update to Snow Leopard. I am using ITunes and am trying
to create a home share. I have successfully signed into the ITunes store
and have authorized the computer under the Store menu. When I go into

account name and password dialog. I fill in my account name and in the
PW field I hear clicks when I type the PW. The only problem is the
"create home share" button says dimmed and won't allow me to activate it
either by pressing enter or by pressing control option space which is
the voiceover command to click the button. I have the check box ticked
in preferences that says share my library.
Any help would be appreciated.

As far as I know, there is no limit to the number of audio devices that
can be connected.
Once you have them connected, assuming they're all recognized by the mac
as output devices, you can switch between them as often as you like from
system preferences.
If however, you just want to mix the output, and record them all for a
podcast or something, you can try the excellent app called hijack audio
pro, from Rogue amoeba located at:
http://rogueamoeba.com/
They have other software that may be of interest to you as well.
