Re: Can't pair keyboard to IPhone

2012-03-16 Thread Geoff Waaler

Hi Shaun,

A couple IOS versions ago I experienced a situation where I was unable to
pair until I cleared out all items from the task switcher. Since then, when
anything FUBARs, my initial step is to clear that puppy.

Secondly, I believe the keyboard is only in pairing mode for a few seconds
after powering up. You may want to remove the batteries so as to make
certain of it's on/off state, press and hold the power button, and try
pairing again to see if it appears in your list of available devices.

Best regards.
Geoff

Hi,
I'm trying to pair an apple wireless keyboard to my new iphone, but every
time i try, it keeps telling me to check that the keyboard is turned on
and in range, both of which are the case. The keyboard is the same one you
get with an Imac.

Re: Can't pair keyboard to IPhone

2012-03-16 Thread Esther
Hi Shaun,

One further suggestion to add to Geoff's excellent suggestions: you mention
that the keyboard is the same one as you get with an iMac. Is it possible that
your keyboard is still paired with an iMac or other computer or device? I
mention this because if your Apple Wireless Keyboard is paired with another
device, you won't be able to pair it with your iPhone. There was an instance
where someone who was having difficulty pairing their keyboard to an iOS
device, discovered that it was still paired to their Mac computer, two rooms
away -- which they thought would be outside the active Bluetooth reception
area. Just something else to check.

HTH. Cheers,

Esther

2012-03-16 Thread Red.Falcon
And also I will add!
Just in case this is the situation!
I was having the same trouble until I found out I was trying to pair the
keyboard that is paired to my Imac! another flick showed me another keyboard
and that was the one I needed to pair with!
The first keyboard said the same thing as what you told us!
So I told the Iphone to forget that keyboard and was just left with the one to
pair with!

Re: Can't pair keyboard to IPhone

2012-03-16 Thread David Griffith
I think it may depend on how old the IMac keyboard is.
I know the the older model Apple keyboards are definitely not compatible with
the I-Phone as the one I bought as a replacement came with the warning that it
was not compatible with an I Pod or I Phone.

Technically I think the keyboard needs to be HID compliant to work with the I
Phone.
I think the older keyboards are not HID. I forget the acronym but they are
something like STC protocol. This works fine on the Mac but not the I Phone.
If you have a modern HID keyboard then of course none of this applies.

I finally got it to pair. took one or two swear words, a bit of
patients, of which I had none, at that point, and it worked.
