I don't have the issue although I' hear they are working on it. It's in beta as
of now but wait for it to be released to the public.

Take care.

Dropbox on the Mac

2014-10-19 Thread Anna Byrne
On the PC, my dropbox files are in a list. I planned to download
Dropbox to the Mac and have a similar list. However, When I open
Dropbox with Safari instead of letting me download and install the
app, it's already there on a cluttered web page with links to my
files. Is there a way to get a cleaner screen? How do I add files
to Dropbox on the Mac?

thanks a bunch,

Actually install the app, then just open the place where your dropbox folder is
and copy cut and paste to your hart's content.

I haven't used google drive in over a year because of the lack of
accessibility. I heard it's better now. but all I use google drive and drop
box for now is the free storage. To keep things I have copies of, but just in
case. As for bitt torrent sync, like Sarah said, it just works! I have shared
my entire iTunes library with a group of people and we had no hickups. And I
am talking a tarabite and half of music and movies. No upload, no waiting for
downloads, just peer to peer, and what ever space you have on your internal, or
external drive, where ever you choose to put the target folder.

How to access setings for dropbox on the mac.

2014-08-29 Thread Annie Skov Nielsen
Hi.

I have got the new plan from dropbox with 1 tb space as a pro customer. Can any
one tell me, how I can access the setings on the mac, I have done it before,
but yesterday I could not go into setings from the menu bar.

Can I have my data on a nother disc than my macs, what will happen if this disc
accidentally is disconnected?

Best regards Annie.

2014-08-29 Thread Phil Halton
I have the latest Mac dropbox app 2.10.74 I think, and I still use the option
mouse click to bring up the dropbox menu from the extras menu bar. It’s the
only way I know to get at that context menu. Of course, first route the mouse
to the dropbox icon, then hold down the option key and click the mouse on your
air/pro, or on an external mouse
open the preferences menu item in the drop down menu and under “account”, you
can change the default location of the dropbox folder. I’m not sure if you can
successfully use an external disc, but go ahead and experiment with some dummy
files and see what happens when you pull the plug.
under “account”, You can also use selective sync to limit the folders that
dropbox syncs onto your mac, if space is a concern. But, you’ll need sighted
assistance to click the various folders that you want to sync and uncheck those
you don’t want on your machine.

I have two macs, an iMac with a 1TB drive that I rarely use, and a mac book air
with 256gb flash. I keep the dropbox folders totally synced on the iMac, and
only some of the more critical folders synced on the air. If I want something
ported over to the air, I simply move it into my public folder on the iMac and
then copy it into the desired folder on the air.

This is how I conserve space on my air while still having the advantages of
dropbox.

Hi Phil and Gordon.

I can come to the preferences, but it is not an easy one.

I press the VoiceOver+shift+space and I can find settings and press
vo+command+space and choose click, but the dropdown directly from the extras
menu will not work.

Another thing is that it ought to be possible to turn dropbox off, so it will
not start automatically, and when start it manually when you have started up
the computer, and you will not run into troubles with the external disc.

Best regards Annie.

To access the dropbox settings hit control f8 to get to your extras menu, then
hold down the option key and press the track pad until you hear it click. You
might need to do this twice if the menu disappears.

I have my folder on a 2 tb external drive. I just choose that during set up, or
in my case I chose it later when I was running out of space.

what will happen if this disc accidentally is disconnected?

If the disk is disconnected all that will happen is a dialogue of dropbox
yelling at you. I simply hit quit and I relaunch the app when I have my
external reconnected. Dropbox will then begin to resynch and modify the folder
after I start the app.

Sharing DropBox on the Mac

2013-06-25 Thread David Griffith
Hello

Has anybody successfully shared a folder on Dropbox using Mac OS?

I have sent an invitation to a MBA user whose support worker has
unfortunately changed his default browser from Safari to Firefox.
On Firefox Voiceover is only recognising 4 page elements and none of them
are allowing the user to accept the invitation.

I am not sure if this is an issue with Firefox or whether there is an
accessibility problem with the confirmation of invite page on the Dropbox
website. In the past the people who have confirmed invitations to share
folders with me have all been sighted.

Any help would be welcome.

Hi Jim,

Run the installation directly from the volume (the .dmg file). For some
reason, that method is accessible, where as copying it to the applications
folder and running it from there is not. I got that tip on this list from
Annie N last summer.

Best regards.
Geoff

All you do is copy and past the files in to the folders once you get it
installed. I'll let someone else outlind the install prociedure as I need to go
grab breakfast though but I do use it all the time on my mac.

Take care.
